Review The Old Spaghetti Factory - Vancouver

Eunice Ade
I really enjoyed dining here. I recommend making reservations, especially for large parties, as there was a 10 minute wait for me. Our waiter, Edward, was an absolute delight. He was patient, explained questions I had about the menu and did so with a cherry attitude. I ordered the Seafood Fettuccine Alfredo and it was delicious!! My portion was a little smaller than expected but it was filling for me. We also got free ice cream for dessert. Highly recommend!

The place is great and beautiful, especially in the Summertime when you can seat on the patio. Inside is good too. Prices are good because your plate will come with a cup of soup or a plate of salad. Beers are good and almost 7-9 dollars. They have happy hours between 2 pm-5 pm you can get a little discount on beer and some appetizers. Our entree was Ravioli which was delicious and authentic. The meal was more than enough for one person and after your meal, you can enjoy your free ice cream.

If you want to experience authentic Italian food this is the place I would recommend. A mix of Italian American ambience very suggestive and friendly service staff, the best was all the servers know their menu and recommendations were amazing. I am an Indian vegetarian and most of the times it’s hard to find vegetarian food with different ethnicities cuisine to try but I was amazed when I saw a good variety of options for myself. 😊 It was fine dine at affordable prices. The fresh sourdough bread with fresh whipped white butter and that hint of garlic in it was to die for. Truly enjoyed this experience. Planning to come back soon with all my friends. 😂

The "its all included" menu is a great value. U get a lot off food only 20 bucks. I absolutely loved the Caesar salad that comes with it. 10/10! Would highly recommend. Unfortunately, can't say the same about the seafood fettuccine. Its was bland and lacked any seasoning whatsoever. The chocolate-pestasio ice cream was delightful.

Fine dining and cheap than other places in Vancouver. Friendly staff and tasty food. Steak was good and well prepared. The spaghetti was not that good. Patio seating is a must. Inside the restaurant is having a nice ambiance. They give an All included option too.

We tried the lasagna, penne and pesto. They serve 3 courses meal. The foods come with a side of salad and dessert. The restaurant has a very beautiful decoration; you can travel back to old Gas town during eating your meal.

First time at the Old Spaghetti Factory and it’s now one of my favourite restaurants. We got a table in the cable car after 2 mins wait time on a busy Sunday and had an amazing experience. Our waitress Nancy was very nice. Hands down, great food and even better price!

It's such a lovely spot offering comfort Italian cuisine at an affordable price. You can enjoy a whole meal starting with baguette and garlic butter, choice of soup or salad, and main entrée or pasta and end with an ice cream for $16-$21 (depending on what you order)! The place is huge and has beautiful decor and good music. There is a train compartment inside and you can sit in it and enjoy your meal! Service was quick and staff were courteous. I would highly recommend this spot in Gastown and visit again!

I made a booking for two people well in advanced. When we turned up they made us sit and wait for a table- obviously they didn’t reserve a table for us. After ten minutes we were still waiting for our reserved table and groups of people that arrived after us were getting seated. When I went to the counter to question where our table was, they seemed to have forgotten us. We got a table very quickly after my query. The meal was lovely. The pesto linguine was the best I’ve had in a long time. After our meal, we were not given our ice cream or coffee that was meant to be included. Instead, we were given the dessert menu which we kindly declined. I don’t think I will go back and I won’t be raving about the old spaghetti factory to friends back home. Disappointed.

Wow, Wow & Triple Wow. I have just travelled half way around the world to have the best pasta meal ever. What a sensational place. You will not be disappointed. (The Tram was the icing on the cake) Well done to all the team at The Old Spaghetti Factory.

Had a great lunch there today . Kale our server was very patient with my mother who has some food allergies . Great server all around ... thanks Kake for a great dining experience

Really enjoy my experience here. Atmosphere is fun and inviting. Service was excellent. Most impressed that since my steak was not cooked to my request at ordering, they cooked me a fresh steak and removed the price of the meal from bill! No if ands or buts about it. Just done. Left quite an impression on me.

I was happy with my time at your establishment, a full course meal and the ice cream to top it off. Still as great at a few years ago when I was there with a group of family members and it was great then too.

It's a place we liked to go to. This location always something. The waitress did say it's her first day after training. I was one of the first to arrive and i ordered myself hot wings. They didn't come till everyone showed up and they seemed like they were sitting there cause they were COLD. Two of my kids didn't get their drinks for awhile. The same two didn't get their appetizers. When we were ordering she walked away from me after i ordered for my kids. So my order wasn't even taken. They had problems separating our bills and they kept adding items to my bill that i didn't even get. Better off to go to the OSF in New west.

Excelente food, delightful experience! I recommend this place for those visiting Canada.

The food is delicious, the server is always very good, but the restaurant is unfriendly
Claude P Hudon
Excellent service and food but as I keep going the OSF I am finding the menu very restrictive more and more. I know the name says what it is but no place should be just a one trick pony place and while staying within the same family of foods have more to offer.

After our 2 hour Scott Kelby 2019 Photowalk we decided to grab some lunch i ordered a cup of black coffee and Minestrone Soup and Penne with Chicken the food was absolutely delicious along with the service our group of 14 were really happy with the meals i would highly recommend this location

The pasta served by this place was awesome and the drinks for also very good. The ambience has something unique attached to it and we loved it. Definitely gonna visit this place again

I will never understand this place. I understand that it houses a haunted antique Vancouver trolley cart and looks like it's been an old fixture in the city. I guess? It was opened in 1970. Like, the food is okay but it's... Something you could make at home easily. Nothing stands out about it. The service is okay. The actual restaurant is cool. But yeah, that pretty much it.
Anindita
Really nice ambience and interiors. We were in a group so we got one of the ‘train’ seatings. It was super. The food is so much, you’ll need to pack it and it will last you more than 1 meal. And the servers are warm & friendly too!
Simon
It's been a long time since I've been to The Old Spaghetti Factory -- long enough that I really didn't remember anything about that. Wouldn't have gone except there was a group meet there, so keep in mind this review is based on large-party auto-gratuity service. Their mains come "It's All Included", meaning theoretically you get:

Absolutely loved this place! 5 stars for everything- great, friendly staff ,authentic, delicious food, ambiance. A must go place if you're here.

The night i visited here was very busy night. It was last day of the Dine out vancouver. So we had to wait a bit. But it was worth it to wait. Atmosphere was so cozy and comfortable. Even though restaurant was full of guests, lights made me very comfy and these lights were unique and beautiful. We ordered caeser salad, Calamari fritti and clam pasta. Everything was good. It was not very specially good tastes but caeser salad was fresh and crunch. Calamari was pretty big potion. Pasta was also good. You could smell and taste of clam well.
Pasta cooked well, sauce were creamy.
We tried lemonades (peach and all mixing flavor). We ordered beverages right after we had seated, and server served those very quickly. We heard more than 3 times of happy birthday song while we were staying. They have special happy birth day song for guests. Watching the guests and employees was very pleasant. Every time when they go to guests and sing with smile faces. None of them looked bored or tired. It was very impressive

Ambience: Busy always but decor is really beautiful . They have a special area for dining which you need to book beforehand (it’s cute).

Food: Ya Italian , you will get variety of pasta, spaghetti ,vegan people can order no cheese spaghetti and the place is decently priced . Overall, quite good ! Italian food lovers would like the place more than others.

*Very busy place as it’s located in a busy area

Been here a couple of times and once in the New Westminster outlet. Always loved it. With $15 you get a salad/soup, a main course and a dessert with complimentary tea and coffee. They also offer unlimited bread and butter which tastes good as well. Ambiance is great and they celebrate the birthdays too. They have their own song. I am just removing 0.5 out of the ratings due to lack of good vegetarian options (they have some but few are good).

Food - 4.5/5
Service - 4.5/5
Ambiance - 4.5/5
Value for money - 4/5

Definitely a place you should visit at least twice.
Kalyrical
Pasta is the ultimate comfort food in my opinion. The wait at this Gastown branch of The Spaghetti Factory is always at least 30 minutes. I dunno, $15 or so for a salad/soup, entree, dessert, and tea/coffee is pretty amazing in my books. Sure you're not getting world class food, but it's cosy and comforting!

Great service, great atmosphere, great prices and even better food! While visiting Gastown we popped in for lunch. Yannis was great and very knowledgeable about the dishes on offer! We will be back for more before we leave for SA.

The spaghetti here is great. Silky smooth with quality sauces. I had the red Thai curry linguine with prawn & everything was so tasty & fresh. Service was good & so was the atmosphere.
Charles Poomi
It's okay, standard fare. There isn't anything special with the food. It's good but not great kind of deal. The decor is really nice though.

Price is fine, food's okay, decor is cool. It's a dandy place to eat out with friends and such but the more adventurous types should look elsewhere.
Jose Miguel Florez Victoria
The spicy meat spaghetti is delicious, and it's really spicy but it's ok. The all includes meal is really good with a low price, you can choose a big variety of plates
EricaLeung
Excellent food and amazing service as the server understood I was a vegetarian and was allergic to dairy. Good portions with bread, salad or soup, and desert. However, more vegetarian options would be great. I will definitely come here again.

April 15, 2016

It's been years since I've came to Old Spaghetti Factory, in fact this is only my second time. The girls kept telling me they can't wait to have the garlic butter as it was so amazing, so that is why we are here tonight.

Sourdough and garlic butter - We asked probably about 5 or 6 garlic butter as it was being eaten the moment it came to the table. It is very light and creamy with the right amount of garlic taste, however I think it needed a little bit of salt in it to bring our the flavour. It really made me crave garlic toast. The sourdough bread came fresh out of oven, so it was hot and toasty!

Green salad with sesame dressing - I really enjoyed the sesame dressing. It was light and made the salad very tasty. The salad contained crisp lettuce, cabbage, and carrots.

Chicken parmigiana with spaghetti - The chicken was fried to perfection with juices running out of it. It was topped with marinara sauce and cheese, which made it melt in your mouth. I didn't really like the spaghetti. I found the noodles slightly too soggy and there wasn't enough pasta sauce.

Spumoni Ice Cream - Single scoop on a steel cup! Smart. Prevents ice cream from melting right away. It was good, however I'm not a fan of chocolate ice cream.

Blackberry and Peach Bellini - I got a double. You can taste the alcohol in this one for sure. Bellini was delicious as always. I didn't really taste any blackberry though.

Service - We got a lady name Katherine. She was pretty good. Checked up on us multiple times. Got our bill in a timely matter.

We enjoyed ourselves. Will be returning.
It was my first time dining at The Old Factory Spaghetti. My friend firmly recommended I should go there and get some pasta. When I went in the restaurant, I saw two waitresses were discussing or chatting at front desk. No greeting, no smiling, only inquired about the amount of people for dinner. Front desk seemed not busy. We shouldn’t be treated like that. However, it didn't ruin my great mood. The train in restaurant attracted my attention, and ambiance of dinning place felt really perfect. A light hit on the table, and the wooden tables were shining under the light. It stood out on the dim dinning place. I’m satisfied with this. Bus-person gave us properly time to check the menu and provided suggestion of entrée with smile. During we were enjoying the food, she would ask meal was good or bad as she passed by. She really changed the bad first impression from the front desk to the pleased memory. A professional, courteous, and lovely bus-person totally made my day.

Although the spaghetti in the Old Factory Spaghetti is not as delicious as my friend said, it did give me a good choice of dining restaurant. Especially, the service and ambiance will be the motivation to go back again.
I got a spinach and shrimp salad with minestrone; my husband shrimp alfredo. The minestrone, bread, and ice cream were pretty good. Everything else was just okay. Maybe we should have gotten spaghetti? Prices are great, especially since they include hot tea and ice cream.

Muy buena relación precio
Calidad. La mayoria de los platos vienen con sopa/ensalada y helado de postre. Los platos son grandes, pueden ser para 2 personas.
Si vas a Canada tienes que ir a uno de estos restaurantes

Amazing location in the middle of Gastown! Big portions and every dish includes a soup/salad, ice cream and coffee/tea. Will definitely come back!

Took some friends who were visiting from out of town and was a little disappointed with the service. Spaghetti Factory is known for its inexpensive meals but didn't expect sub-par service or food. Very slow and inattentive servers - a pitty since the atmosphere and decor is actually very nice.
Jenny
One of the better Old Spaghetti Factory locations. For what you pay for, the portion is reasonable. It comes with soup/salad, bread, and ice cream as well which makes it a good full meal. Service is average, nothing too special. Good for some good old pasta.
Annabetween2hs
Over priced, small portions, long wait time. The Old Spaghetti factory is highly overrated. The food is not very good as it tastes cheap. The environment of the restaurant is the only decent aspect.

Worse dinner ever. We used to love this place With my 3 years old son, we revisited it since the very last time in five months ago which was already a disappointed experience. This time... well.. my iceberg lettuce was not not as fresh and my husband cesar salad tasted very heavy in some kind of spicy in it. The pizza in my son kid's meal was cold and not tasty at all .... my hubby's fries cold... everything served in room temp. My hubby finished the evening by saying we r not coming back.
Jaci
I usually love the old spaghetti factory for a cheap filling meal BUT this OSF has to be one of the worst. When they brought me my pasta there was practically no sauce on my noodles, same with my boyfriends too. It was just like eating a giant plate of plain cooked noodles. I wouldn't waist my time or money at this location again. Best one so far has to be in whistler
The Guys Dine Out
Guilty pleasure!. I know it has it's haters but I really like going here once in awhile. I always get the same thing...spaghetti and meatballs with spicy meat sauce and it never disappoints.

Mixed review!. We always enjoy The Old Spaghetti Facory, but today was an exception. Arrived to see people waiting in reception, which is usual. There was just the two of us and we were advised it would take 20-30 min. Not bad. While we waited, we watched hostess and two their young staff members hang out at the hostess booth chatting it up. Hostess called for a specific party of 3, no one responded, so she called party of 2, no one responded. So she stopped calling parties. 5 min later she started down her list. We got seated on time, in the trolly! No problem. Front lobby still full of folks waiting to be seated. Trolly has 6 tables 4 are empty and remain so during out meal. I look down the dining room up front and at least 3 tables are empty and set for next patrons but no one gets seated for at least 10-15 min. I see a couple seated at a table for 4, which includes 4 chairs in dining room. This isn't a problem, except that a party of 4 is seated in the trolly across from us at a small table which hasvery small benchseats. The party of 4 is made of up older folks, where both men were of larger size. They barely fit into the benches with their wives. Not sure why everyone must wait up front to be seated when there are plenty of tables open. Our waitress, who was great only had 2/3 tables at one time, others were empty. Manger needs to train front staff better. We saw many leave without coming in as wait was too long
Food was good, except ordered ceasar salad, $2 extra which had no dressing, just cheese!
Sorry, this time, not impressed at all!
Finewinedine
Cheap and quick. Don't come here if u want hand cooked food.
all the food made here comes out of bags but for the price people can't really think they are eating real food. 10 bucks gets you complete meal and drink desert. will be back if I become poor.
Uri Cho
It's around $17 and up. You can get one appetizer like salad, clam chowder... Main dish , and dessert like coffee tea or ice cream. Atmosphere is nice and antique. We waited about 15mins today, Tuesday.
Jason
Not very good. Penne With Spicy Chorizo Sausage ...........Not spicy & not very good......Pasta was cold and watery :/
Plate of muscles.........Cold and not really any flavor :/
Bam Bam Shrimp were the best shrimp I have ever had :)

Really good price, great location. Some nostalgy in there too. Wish they had a gluten free option. Don't take the alfredo and the Granville Pale Ale...
Gin
Atmosphere is very twee and cosy. Service is super friendly if not entirely accurate. A large table's meals and drinks were very mixed up but we sorted it out in the end. Large meals. Basic food. A fair feed at the price.

We are in a haunted train and the food is adequate and Molly the waitress is the bomb yo!
Jaedyn
The food is of course amazing ! The restaurant has lots of charecter and interesting decorations and the best part is it is haunted , so you get awesome food and a show it is awesome there.

This will be short. Food was great..atmosphere was too. Our table was small and space was cramped. However our cheery server was splendid and my house BC beer was pleasant. I will be back!

Meh..... Having grown up locally, I used to go to the Old Spaghetti Factory when I was a kid. It was a treat. I guess when you are 8 years old, it's a cool place.

On a positive note, the meals are reasonably priced. Other than that....

I had dinner at the Gastown location the other night, and I doubt whether I will go back again.
I ordered the spaghetti and meat sauce, which comes with a soup or salad, as well as coffee and ice cream for dessert. For an additional $2.50 fee, I upgraded to the French Onion soup.
It really bothers me when a restaurant changes the ingredients or the way a very distinctive dish like French Onion soup is made, and doesn't mention that on the menu- leading you to believe that it is made traditionally.
The French onion soup of the Old Spaghetti Factory consisted of a very small bowl of non beef stock (possibly chicken or maybe vegetable stock- very salty) with a few croutons and a minimal amount of some kind of white cheese- probably mozzarella, and processed at that. You couldn't find an onion in the soup if your life depended on it.

The spaghetti with meat sauce I ordered baked with cheese. The bowl arrived, showing a mediocre amount of sauce covered in 2-3 pieces of processed mozzarella- only partiall melted. It wasn't baked. If it was actually heated it, I suspect it would have been microwaved for a few seconds, although I wouldn';t doubt if the cheese was just laid on top of warm pasta and sauce.
The spaghetti was ok. Not horrible, but just ok. Bland sauce. No real flavour. In all honesty, not a lot different than a frozen Michelina dinner. A presidents choice frozen spaghetti dinner is actually better tasting, and at 1/3 the price.

The nicest thing about the meal is the bread that is served prior to your food arriving.

And to top it off, there was a very agressive panhandler that stood outside the front door, smoking and harassing all of the patrons as they left. The restaurant did nothing about it.

I won't be going back. The Old Spaghetti Factory's glory days are obviously behind them.
Nick Morrison
HORRIBLE service, no follow through. Too bad the service at the Spagetti Factory was so piss poor there the last time my wife and I went. We visited this year on our anniversary, the service was so bad that I wrote to them about it. The manager called and apologized and then offered to mail me coupons for a 'meal on the house' and then never bothered followingup - emailed to ask what happened and have never heard from them again...too bad, loved some of their dishes too.

However, on this particular occasion I did order the chorizo pasta dish. And they used sub-standard sausage, and then boiled all of the flavour out of it...so my dish ended up tasting like pasta with English Bangers.
Kea
I will never, ever go back. To begin with, the location was great: you can't go wrong with a sunny day in Gastown. I am now out of nice things to say.
The food was mediocre. The caesar salad was swimming in dressing, the tomato pasta sauce was very bland, the chicken was oily. I will grant the menu probably works well with kids who are picky eaters - nothing spicy or flavourful.
The service was abysmal. Our waitress may have been nice, but we barely saw her. I don't know if that's usual for them or if they were short-staffed, but if it's going to take close to 2 hrs to get in & out, a little warning would be appreciated.
Icing on the cake after a bad meal: they overcharged our credit card. We tipped 12% - much lower than I normally do, but I felt justified considering the unpleasant experience at the restaurant. When we checked later online, they'd taken it upon themselves to bump it up to almost 20%.
In summation, I will NEVER eat there again. I will warn everyone I know not to eat there; or at very least, check that the amount they process on your card is the amount you actually agreed to pay them.

Very consistent food the Thai curry was surprisingly satisfactory it's the place to ho with kids of u live or are visiting the good :)

Ok place. People bash this chain because of its average food. The Gastown location is a little bit better than the one is New West and much better than the one in Whistler. The food is still nothing to brag about, but the ambience is nice and the service is passable....in the end, you get what you paid for, right?

Brings back old memories.... We remember going here as kids over 20 years ago. We always used to order the Spaghetti with Clam Sauce. We recently went back, the place looks the same with the old train in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered the Spaghetti with Clam Sauce again but we agree it wasn't the same as before, maybe it just tasted better when we were kids. The sauce was bland and the spaghetti was soggy: we didn't finish it. This place is still good though for its sourdough bread (yummy) with the garlic whipped butter, nice and hot. Another good thing about this place is that the spaghetti comes with spumoni ice cream. One of us recently went again and ordered the Pesto Linguine. Now this dish was way better: tasty and had a good amount of pine nuts and almonds. We will probably order the Pesto Linguine next time we are there again.

Great value for your money. Food is decent and you get a lot of it. Yummy sangria too

Great deal and great for kids and families. Delicious spaghetti combos!! Best bang for your buck that i know of... Expect lineups on the weekends so make reservations!!

I would go back but it wouldn't be my first choice.. PROS
- sourdough bread is to die for. i would make the trip to any spag factory just for this. and the garlic butter that goes with it really is the icing on the cake. my friends and i always end up asking for seconds. or thirds :D
- free ice cream!! you cant go wrong with that :)
- great value, great location. for those of you hitting up fabric nightclub across the street and wants a quick bite before killing your liver for the night, old spag is a great place to drop by.
- deep fried zucchini = A MUST!

CONS
- i'm not a fan of the pasta, although i did have the one w/ spaghetti and chicken breast w/ hollandaise sauce (forgot what it was called) and it was pretty decent.
- i've never been to THIS location though i have been in the one in langley (awful service) and new west (great service. last couple times i went, we had the same server named ryan and he was very put together. great execution). so it really depends on which location you hit up in terms of quality of service.

Greetings food eaters we have just stuffed our bellys and our gullets at ye old spaghetti factory - our verdict : Lizard - "don't eat unless your 9 and our looking to meet a 9 year old" Cherry - "that lizard character just stole the words right out of my mouth. The frank honesty of the waitress was refreshing even though the food wasn't - surly eats with smile. Ps. Legend has it that the Spinoni is actually better thanthe cheesecake. Whoops. S'ok. Thischerry is in love." Side note- brittney spears is playing. NOT child appropriate!

DELISSIO. FANTASTIC restaurant, for family gatherings, friend reunions, site-seeing, exploring vancouver, or just to get some affordable but good italian food.

entrees all come with an appetizer (soup or salad) as well as coffee or tea. main courses are pretty big, proportionally, and the staff there is always very friendly and have really good service.

as one of my favourite restaurants, OSF has consistent tasty food every time i go, with a menu with a variety of choice.

the restaurant is nicely decorated, with lots of stories of Vancouver's heritage. The traincar in the middle of the restaurant is a signature piece.

line-ups are often long (especially at night) so try to make reservations if you can.

great eating atmosphere, wonderful food, friendly staff, and tasty cuisine. i highly recommend this restaurant.
WL Firedog
Hadn't seen it in years. Family friendly place. Bustling and busy with good service. Didn't seem like as much on the menu as I remember. Food was good. Interior had lots to look at on the walls and ceiling.
ZLX
Place was packed. We had to wait for 15 minutes. Food was ok, nothing special. If u're not looking for an amazing food, I guess it's ok. Otherwise look for an alternative. We had spaghetti with meat sauce, fettucini Alfredo, cesar salad, minestrone soup (the soup was the most enjoyable)
Weiting Hsieh
Great burger at a pasta place. They serve wonderful burgers, juicy and full of flavour with every bite

however, I didn't think their pasta was that good

out of the 5 times I was there, once the server was being rather annoying as if he was trying to rush us through the meal and have another turn around
all the other 4 times we had a wonderful time

would definitely recommend for a down and easy night out :)
Jezzicuh
It ain't fancy, but it's food!. This is an anomaly in Gastown -- it's not fancy, it's family friendly, it's cheap.. and it's pretty okay! You get salad and bread with your pasta (and ice cream, but I always skip that). The atmosphere is definitely "family-oriented". Be prepared for many overexcited children.

So why did I like it? It's cheap, the food is adequate, the mixed drinks are large, and it's two blocks from my house. Sometimes you don't want fancy, you just want someone else to cook you spaghetti and do the dishes afterward.
Michaelr62
The food is great here with lots of choices on the menu. The staff are good and this is relaxed dining so don't expect fast service. It is actually refreshing not to be rushed thru a meal to make room for another group of diners waiting for a table.

Worst service ever

Well Well Well, The Old Spag; A classic, "home style" Italian chain restaurant in Canada. Known for it's pasta of course. When I first visited around 6 years ago, I was honestly not impressed by the quality of their food, and after that I didn't revisit until this new years eve. Since it was the second dinner of the night for my family and I, we didn't order a lot, but I enjoyed every dish. Not to mention the price of their food!

Old Spaghetti Factory is located in the oldest part of Vancouver: Gastown. Famous here in Vancouver for their affordable Italian dishes and going on a Friday night, I ended up arriving at a fully packed restaurant....Sweet Potato Fries – Crispy sweet potato fries lightly seasoned and served with a chipotle dip Sweet Potato Fries (4/5) Ah, the classic sweet potato fries. These in particular were perfectly fried, not overly seasoned and the right texture. On the side, it came with a nice chipotle dipping sauce. A great appetizer overall!

Located in the trendy Gastown, this Old Spaghetti Factory which opened on March 22, 1970 is quite unique in that you can dine in one of the old trolleys – though I haven’t had the opportunity to dine in there specifically myself. The restaurant is large, and has an old vintage feeling. There’s usually a line up, and they don’t take reservations. The menus are printed on old newspaper like paper – which they will reuse, so don’t discard them! The prices are quite cheap, and for most of the menu, they have what’s called “It’s All Included” All the entrées include OSF Classic Sourdough Bread with Whipped Garlic and Plain Butter (they are delicious!), Minestrone Soup or Crisp Green Salad; Spumoni Ice Cream; and Hot Tea or our own blend of Coffee.Dressing choices include Ranch, 1000 Island, Blue Cheese, House Italian or Low-Fat Sesame. The food is decent for the price you pay for. The menu has a variety of selections/options, so you can come back and order something different

Bad service, bad neighbourhood, mediocre food, I don’t know, unless you’re coming here out of convenience, there’s probably better places for your dollar elsewhere downtown. Though, not saying it’s terrible or anything, some might like it more than me!

The Old Spaghetti Factory in Gastown seems to have been there forever. Walking in, there’s a natural charm to the decor with an old train in the middle of the restaurant. There’s also outdoor patio seating – which seems to attract many during the summer.
The Gastown location opened on March 22, 1970. I arrived in Vancouver 20 years later. And took me almost another 20 years to try it. An experience not to be missed for sure. It is semi Disney Land. An uncomplicated menu and easy food preparation ensures fast service for the diner. But for the workers, according to my date who worked at the restaurant years ago, the model caused them spagmares. This is how the evening went. The "It's All Included" menu means that a warm bread, with regular and garlic butter, appears at your table. Very quickly, the salad is there; served on the original plates from the 70s. The food is sizeable but simple in both taste and spicing sophistication. To get the full experience, I ordered the Manager's Favourite where one chooses two of the sauces. "It's All Included" meant their signature Spumoni Ice-cream. And all of this "It's All Included" was $11.95. Not bad value for a Saturday Night out on the town. The Old Spaghetti Factory 53 Water Street Vancouver, BC www.oldspaghettifactory.ca

Right in the middle of the restaurant is also the famous Street Car that was originally built in 1904. After working as a passenger car, travelling thousands of miles on Vancouver’s streets, the car was saved from destruction to be displayed at the restaurant.
Every Day Is A Food Day
I’m not a big fan of the family chain restaurant since I’ve had some pretty bad experiences with the food, but J insisted that they had some great salad, so I decided to give it another shot. The place is definitely a family restaurant, and since we went for an early dinner, we were seated immediately. The Gastown location is said to be haunted too which makes everything a little more spooky! In the middle of the restaurant is an electric trolley. It is said that a train conductor died in a crash years ago and that people have seen his ghostly figure in pictures. Kind of creepy, since we were seated right next to the trolley. My brother and I went to the Old Spaghetti Factory in Gastown. I had Lasagna - Mama Pulosi's Secret Homemade Recipe (layer upon layer of pasta, meat sauce and three different cheeses) ... it was good. Ian, our server, was nice and friendly! They have a old train car in the restaurant.

The Daughter ate her lasagna faster then drinking her glass of rootbeer. That will tell you how good the food was! My pasta was half Homer and Mushroom sauce. Paired with a glass of Santa Isabela Cabernet Sauvignon. Oh yeah the minestrone soup and loaf of sourdough were perfect to start.

Old Spaghetti Factory reliably offers you a very good, solid meal for your dollar – and, continues to hold a special place in my heart.

Despite originating in Portland, The Old Spaghetti Factory has long since evolved into a Vancouver institution, attracting both tourists and locals looking for a great meal at a ridiculously low price. With branches both in the trendy neighbourhood of Gas

While many would not agree with my views, I like Old Spaghetti Factory . They're simple and with a menu that probably hasn't changed much in my short 21 years of existence, you know that it's pretty much a formulaic restaurant. My memory is a little hazy

There is no better way to spend a nice lunch than with extended family and friends, at a great restaurant: The Old Spaghetti Factory. We went to the Gastown location, although I have been there and to other locations with J, my brother, and other friends.
