The pizza was excellent. Very thin and airy crust, with simple and well-chosen toppings. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing.

I love Nook. It is still my favourite spot for authentic pizza; I think the difference between it and other spots (ex nicli) is that the sauce is more flavourful and offers more depth. Love the crostini options for a meal teaser. I've always had great service and the food had never disappointed.

I never was a big fan of thin crust pizza until I started eating here. Before Nook, I was all about the thick crust. Turns out though, their margherita is amongst the best pizzas I have ever tasted, which is why I don’t mind to shell out $17 for a small pizza. Not only is it great-tasting, but fresh and not heavy even after you´ve eaten it all by yourself.

Nook is not just pizza though, their pasta collection is great as well. Don’t miss the burrata and gnocchi from here – try it and you’ll know why. The locale on Denman is extremely busy, yet manages to be just as cozy and relaxed as the one on Yew.

Something I’ve always struggled with in Vancouver is finding high quality, authentic Italian Food at a reasonable cost. Of course we have the fantastic Giardino, CinCin, and Lupo’s of the city, but they certainly come with a price tag. Restaurants like Nook (along with Ask For Luigi) provide a much-needed solution, with delicious – and more affordable – pasta and pizza. A neighbourhood favourite in both the West End and Kitsilano, Nook offers a small, simple, and very tasty menu featuring Classic Italian Fare, along with a friendly and casual atmosphere.

🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦Holy crap! Just had one of the best meals of my life here😍!!! This is the best place for Italian food. Little line when I came in, so come early. However, as a result of waiting so long, free white bean spread with tapenade on toast!! Got seated at the bar and was greeted by an amazing bartender/waitress. First dish was the antipasto, which was amazing, with a good balance of meat, cheese, bread and greens. My main dish was the gnocchi with baby meatballs. 10/10 and I devoured it within 2 minutes. The tiramisu for dessert was jaw droppingly fluffy, thick and rich!
Come here for an amazing meal you won't regret!!

Having eaten there many times, it's a cozy little place that offered good pizza. Their daily pizza specials are worth a try as well. My usual go-to dish is the Rigatoni boscaiola and tiramisu.

Tasy Italian. I've been going to the Nook for years - awesome pizza and the best pizza....Try the focaccia bread....My only downside to it is that although they have a few daily specials, the menu is quite small and hasn't changed much. I realize it's a small restaurant, but I love the food so much it would be great to see more dishes. Come early as there is always a line-up past 5:30

It's our go to place.... We live in the neighbourhood and it's our "go to" place whenever we are feeling tired, down or out. Never fails to lift our spirits and delight our palates. The pastas and thin crust pizzas are fabulous of course, but we also love the chicken liver bruschetta, meatball appetizer and chocolate budino for dessert. If you love wine, talk to the barman. He's super knowledgeable and will bring you a liquid you'll love.

Will be back... Again, and again, and again. We have been to Nook about a dozen times over the last three and half years, as long as we've been dating. We had to move away from Vancouver a year ago, and Nook has been one of the things we've missed most about the city.

We went here tonight at the tail end of our honeymoon, and were pleased to see (and taste) that the restaurant and its service are still as great as ever. Do yourself a favour and eat here. You won't be disappointed, the food is that good.

I don't know if I can call this place a hidden treasure, since every time I try to get in, there is always a line up. This place is great. Good food, service and the price is definitely warranted. Even though their menu selection is limited, they make it so well that I never get bored of the food. I recommend trying their daily special!
Overall experience: two thumbs up

I love this place! It's cosy/crowded, but service is warm & friendly and the food is incredible and made with care. Standouts were the green salad (really! Loads of Parmesan, walnuts & chickpeas, frisée & shaved endive), burrata/prosciutto antipasto (which we were pleasantly surprised came with grilled bread, basil leaves & a selection of heirloom tomatoes on the side), and the homemade pasta. Next time I'll try the pizza- a mild-looking guy at a neighboring table took one bite and then boomed out 'this is the best *%!!#!* crust I've ever had!'. Bottom line: I don't think you can go wrong here.

What??. To be offended that your server, ( who's job description is to serve you in an informed, knowledgeable & friendly way) who, by the sound of your rant, did just that, is offensive. With so many great fruits and veggies coming out of local farms and markets, I find it laughable that you found it something to complain about. The only thing "pompous" about what sounds like someone doing their job with pride, is that you consider yourself to be a foodie.

Fantastic food but pompous staff. The food is seriously delicious and as close to real Italian food you'll get in Vancouver, but the pompous atmosphere is rather annoying. The need to tell me where everything is sourced and how it's made is unnecessary, a simple explanation will suffice.

Cosy and busy. Friday night. 2 people. Ordered gnocchi and the gnochetteli, chocolate budino.
Small restaurant, with an open kitchen so you can see how the chefs are cooking. We had a 30minute wait for a table for 2. Once seated, service was good - the waitering staff were always on the go; doing a multitude of things with a full house in attendance.

Food: really good - nice portion, with simple but great flavours. Wouldn't get the dessert again however.

Tip: if you are waiting on a table then write your name down on the blackboard on the left side of the entrance. By looking at the board you can get a fair idea of how long it may take to be seated. There were ~12 people in front of us and that took 30mins.

Great food, a little too crowded. I love the food here and the staff are always so friendly and warm. It is a very small space, so there is quite a wait for tables from time to time. It can also feel quite crowded during the busier times. The quality of food and the consistency of the dishes are what make me enjoy eating here so much. Always ask for what's on the specials menu, since those items are always delightful.

I've been here a couple of times. The first time was in the summer of 2011, and my friend and I shared an heirloom tomato and bocconcini salad, as well as one of their pizzas. Both were very enjoyable and very reasonably priced. I went there again on January 30, 2012, and again had a pizza. The place is always busy which I guess is a result of what a good value it is coupled with a great menu. Ingredients are fresh, and the presentation is nice. In a part of the West End dominated by Korean and Japanese restaurants, the Nook is a welcome change.

Great food and service. Our party of 7 arrived here on New Years Eve after a botched reservation at another local restaurant. They kindly made room for us last minute and from there on in we were treated with fantastic, low key, knowledgable service and fed amazing food with no pretentiousness. Their desserts had every one of us oohing and awing, all of it, really good.

Good food, long wait. After passing up Nook before due to an estimated hour long wait, we finally decided that we would go suck it up and wait as long as was necessary to get a table at this highly rated Italian joint. The restaurant is very tiny and diners here are certainly not in a rush to turn tables (and are not meant to feel rushed by waitstaff which is a good thing) so we waited a good hour for a table for four. We were treated to a free little nibble while we waited which was a nice touch.
Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us select food and wine based on our preferences for the evening. I highly recommend that you share appies as there are many delicious ones to try. We shared the greens salad, the burrata and prosciutto and, my favorite, the ricotta and pistachio crotini (amazing!). Three of us then had pizza (two prosciutto and arugula and for me, the anchovies and chili) and one pesto pasta. While all were very tasty and loaded with quality ingredients (they certainly do not skimp on the prosciutto!), the pizza here is just not at the same level as some of the new pizza places in town (Nicli, Farina).
In the end, I could very easily be persuaded to return to Nook for a nice evening out (if I am not in a rush!) but if all I want is the bet pizza money can buy, I will likely go elsewhere.

I f*cking love this place. Order the foccacia! It's only 4 bucks but it's of generous portion, comes with this crazy fragrant shredded cheese ( I think it's that fancy Parmesan) and olive oil/ balsamic vinegar side to dip with.

Then order the prosciutto burrata if you feel like high ballin it ($20). Crostini, prosiciutto, then the creamiest mound of cheese piled on top...

Then do whatever. Everything on the menu is simple and simply priced. It's good for dates ( especially the isolated island at the back right in front of the chefs cooking or maybe if you hate your date sit in front of the bartender, fully equipped with a meat slicer!) and a small group. Round up 3 or 4 people and you can share a bunch of pasta dishes and pizza.

Exceeded expectations. A friend had been raving to us about the salami pizza at The Nook, and tonight we finally ventured over to Denman to try it. We were scared of encountering this "Brad" that all the reviews talked about, but luckily he must not have been working today because all the staff were incredibly friendly and warm. We had the caprese salad, which was easily the best caprese salad I've ever had. The tomatoes were bursting with flavour and of really excellent quality. The mozzarella was soft and fluffy and melted in my mouth. The salami pizza was almost too enjoyable. I savoured every bite and didn't want it to end. The crust is perfection: thin, but still chewy and fluffy! How! Delicious. One of my top three dining experiences in Vancouver to date :) Will definitely be back!

I like!. I came here with my friends a couple of weeks ago. It's a nice little spot on denman. It's a little small and when we got there there were no tables so we sat at the bar. We were pretty hungry so we ordered a bunch of small dishes. We had the foccacia, meatballs, buffalo mozzorella, proscuito and an anchovy pizza. The pizza was a little burnt but besides that, everything was delicious. It's a pretty cool place with a simple and fresh menu. Will be back for sure

Pizza was amazing, gnocchi..not so much. Had dinner at the bar at Nook last night. The pizza was delicious!
Proscuitto & Arugula pizza- piled high with arugula, salty proscuitto... DELICIOUS
Ricotta pizza (olives, garlic, onion, roasted tomato)- so good and fresh!

My sister had the gnocchi with mini meatballs...not that impressive. For $16, could have skipped it. Not that tasty and questionable portion size.

Overall, would go back for the pizza for sure!!

Love this place. I had never heard of it but was introduced to it by a friend in the summer. Our group had been out and we were hungry. It was about 11:00, the Cinderella hour for finding a bite to eat in this town. But we called in the cab on the way down and told them we were coming and we were hungry. They said they could throw something together for us, but we'd have to trust them since they'd already started closing the kitchen for the night. No problem!

They gave us quite a spread! Delicious pizza! Amazing heirloom tomato salad with bocconcini! Divine burrata on crostini with prosciutto. YUM!

I've since been back and had the chicken liver paté, more burrata on crostini, the meatballs, another type of pizza. I love sitting at the bar and the owners are fun to interact with. I will say that you have to be willing to roll with it a bit. They're a small operation so are sometimes out of things but my experience is that they always make another recommendation that is great. The only thing that's happened there that I wasn't thrilled about was when we wanted to order a bottle of wine in the $50 range but they didn't have the one we wanted. The guy behind the bar recommended a substitute that they had just gotten in. It was great but when the bill came, it was about $75. That was a bit of bad form, if you ask me. But, again, rolling with it.

There's generally a line up but it's worth the wait. Simple, fun Italian prepared with great ingredients by people who care. I'll be back!

Exceptional. We've been to Nook a few times and it never fails to impress. I've had the lasagna, but my usual is the bolognese with meatballs. My wife usually gets a pizza. And I usually have the escarole salad appetizer. From the moment you step in and see the owner, freshly slicing choice Italian meats at the end of the bar -- acorn-fed prosciutto, good quality salami, heirloom tomatoes for the caprese salad -- you know you're in the right place. It's all about the ingredients and an attention to the right kind of detail. The focus is on flavour without getting too prissy with the presentation. It's exceptional, straight-forward, rustic and excellent Italian food for the money. The lasagna is a multi-tiered stack of inspired inventiveness. It starts with a two-meat bolognese ragu, with smoked provolone, carmelized onions and pesto-infused bechamel perfectly layered. However, you won't see these pretentious ingredient details on the menu. You just have to discover them for yourself. That's the nice thing about Nook. Everyone can appreciate the food, but it also rewards serious attention. It's casualness belies an obvious attention to detail, without getting all food nerd on you. We watched the owner whip up a bowl of whipped cream by hand, with an damn whisk, bona fide nona-style, in between preparing caprese salads, apparently to make a handmade point. The wine list is, again, not the obvious selections you'd get at an average Italian restaurant-- the run-of-the-mill Valpoliccellas and ho-hum Chiantis. I liked the Velenosi from D'Abruzzo when they had it, but there are other selections off the beaten Italian path. Last time, I had the Sedara, a Sicilian, quite good. The overall experience is kind of a deconstructed Italian, not unyeildingly purest to Italian cuisine, but not overly reinterpreted either. Somewhere in the middle. The result is modern, real and extremely pleasant. As an added bonus, the night we were there Jessica Biel, Jon Hamm, Bradley Cooper and Patrick Wilson all showed up. My wife was very impressed. I couldn't take my eyes off the bolognese.

Awesome. My Boyfriend and I had the plasure of dining at Nook tonight. I am leary of these Charcuterie style restaurant, especially when they make their own crummy meats.
But Nook was a refreshing change of pace. We sat at the bar, nibbled on delicious chicken livers, wonderful toasts spread with white bean and pistachios. We had delicious Orechietti and paper thin ravioli that was exquisite. And finally an unreal Chocolate caramel mousse and panna Cotta that was by far the best I have ever tasted.
The service from "Crissy" was exemplary. She made us feel like we were sitting in her home. Nook was a refreshing change and I will definitely spend my hard earned cash there again!

We arrived at Nook restaurant’s Denman location at around 8 p.m. on a Wednesday night. To our surprise the restaurant was packed. A staff member approached us right away and told us to put our names down on the blackboard waitlist. Seriously, can anybody help me because I really can’t breathe. One pizza, two pastas, and a tiramisu later, I’m not being dramatic when I say I was knocked out for two entire days after dinner at Nook.

When your entire existence and emotional well-being revolves almost solely around food, this is a huge problem. And yet, I regret nothing.
A favourite of mine, Nook is one of those special places that you want to keep as your little secret while also shouting to the world about because with pizza as lovely as this, it’s hard to know what to do with yourself. One thing’s for certain, whenever you’re in doubt the answer is always put an egg on it. Don’t stop there because you’re gonna want to add pancetta too and even though it might be $4 per add on, you’ll understand when I whisper lovingly in your ear,” Worth it, so worth it.”

AMBIANCE | Nook is very cozy. It is, at best, one-third the size of Italian Kitchen. Nook unfortunately, does not take reservations. As they are so petite inside, there is almost always a lineup. They write your name on a chalkboard close to the door and you wait outside. If you are taking someone on a first date here.... well, its a hit or miss. You can chat while you wait, gambling whether or not the weather is cold haha. Nook is dimly lit, and there are only two waitresses. I can't say the service is at its best, but certainly good for the few hands they have. But the overall mood of Nook is very authentic and simple. The stone oven is visible, and the staff is friendly, I prefer it over Italian Kitchen's modern and cookie-cutter decor - the standard mirrors with hints of black and white - seems sort of distant to me, but then again, its my preference.

Nook is a traditional Italian restaurant on the West End that is known for the pizza and pasta. They do not take any reservations at all, so sometimes you will need to avoid the peak dining hours. FoodPunk took me here to eat some delicious Italian food. I usually don't go to the West End, but I can't say no since she was paying and driving. It's a good exchange since I give her a bit of web work and she buys me dinner. The interior is narrow and does have limited seating. Sometimes there can be a line of customers forming outside. The interior is very dark and lit by red lights. It's very romantic and it a good spot for a date. The menu doesn't have too many items, so decision making shouldn't be too difficult. Prosciutto with buffalo mozzarella ($16) is also drizzled with olive oil, salt, and pepper. The mozzarella was creamy and soft, which paired well with the salty prosciutto. Yum. Gnocchi with Baby Meatballs ($17) was delicious. The gnocchi were like little soft pillows. Great ta

Took my girlfriend here for an impromptu dinner and safe to say it did not disappoint. On a busy Friday night around 8:00, there was a queue but Sarah was extremely accomodating. The ambiance was warm and welcoming. I ordered the special that night, the Beef Cheek Ragu Papardelle with Caramelized Onions and Peppered Pecorino. Really decadent pasta with a lot of depth especially with the rich ragu and perfectly al dente papardelle. She ordered the Housemade Sausage Pizza, and was very tasty as the 3 peppers were perfect touches to each slice. Nothing short of amazing, and our server Adam was incredibly helpful in helping us feel welcomed, on top of the tiramisu he got for us. Definitely made our week and highly suggest coming here regardless of the time. It's worth the wait, and is a definite comeback for us. Thank you Adam & Sarah!
