This place is real yummy and fine ingredients from local farms. Highly recommend this place! My favorite is fig an brie pizza!
Today I was invited as the plus one of @pickydiner, tagging along with his invitation to a spring long table dinner at “Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co”. The visit left me wondering why I have never visited any of their locations until today. This dinner was created to showcase wild foraged foods and their natural health benefits. Vegetation found in BC’s wild that you can collect yourself and prepare yourself. A great bit of knowledge to have in survival situations. But why worry about what you can eat and how to prepare it, when you can simply head down to “Rocky Mountain” and take advantage of Chef Oliver Zaulauf’s expertise. Continue reading to see how he makes these foraged “weeds” more that just palette-able.
One of our favs for taking the kids. We get to have a decent meal and the kids can mess around in the corner with the toys. I've loved most of there pizzas so far and I occasionally get the seasonal pasta.
Great pizza! Got the tasting menu which includes a salad, small pizza and dessert for $20. Would give it a 3.14/pie but it would be too cheesy
The food was excellent, the gluten free pizza was to die for. Great service and always such fresh ingredients. Will be back soon :) had the specials pizza and it was so good!
I love this place! SW age 10.
Dad: This is a child friendly nut and peanut free restaurant which is important if your family has allergies. Enjoy
Best casual place to go with kids. The food is great, fast and friendly service and they have a little play kitchen with pizza oven. The interior is nicely decorated as well.
Ordered the Fig and Goat Cheese Salad and Pesto Shrimp 10" Pizza via DoorDash Delivery and service was very prompt, 20 minutes early in fact. Also, got a great discount! Food is delicious as always. Will definitely order from here again!
The food was average but RMF has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Most of the ingredients used is also locally grown which is always a plus but that also means increased prices. But if you're around the area and looking for some good pizza RMF is hard to pass up.
Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. has it all! Their great selection of pizza will satisfy every dietary preference: vegetarian, gluten-free, eco-conscious, indecisive, etc. Four of us went on Wine Wednesday when they offer 50% of bottles of wine. Pretty great deal! We spent a couple of hours on the spacious patio while we drank, ate appies, chatted with the friendly servers for recommendations, shared 4 different pizzas, and devoured 2 desserts. Everything was so delicious, I didn't want to listen to my stomach and stop eating. This is a great place to take your family or a group of friends; the more the merrier (and the more you can try)! RMF is also a restaurant that CARES: they are conscientious and do everything they can to effect positive change. Ask the staff! They are some of the good-natured people around :) Ooooh man, this place has PIZZAZZ! Oh, wait, no... it has PIZZAS! I definitely left with a full belly of food and laughs! THANKS, RMF. See ya soon!
Amazing pizza! Absolutely delicious!! We had the bruschetta and flatbread with dip to start, and four 10" pizzas between four ladies and we thoroughly enjoyed them all - and even a few slices to take home. Highly recommended the Fig & Brie artisan pizza. Also, half price wine on Wednesday and a gorgeous patio!!! We finished the evening with cheesecake and double chocolate brownies that were perfect. The service was prompt, friendly, and welcoming. What's not like?!
I loved my experience at Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. In Kits. I went with three other ladies for a relaxing Wednesday night "girls dinner" and it was the perfect atmosphere! The patio was gorgeous and we enjoyed sitting out in the warm summer night. The "farm-to-table" menu was amazing and it was difficult picking just one pizza, so we picked four and shared (plus bruschetta to start!) My favourite was the Brie and fig pizza. The service was excellent, our servers and food runners were friendly and welcoming. Nice wine and dessert menu, too - the cheesecake was delicious! All in all it was a lovely experience and I will definitely be back.
My partner and I had dinner here last week and it was completely lovely. Beautiful open, but cozy atmosphere. The staff were all friendly and seemed happy to be working there, which I always take as a great sign!
The food was delicious. They had a three course deal for $20 each - salad or soup, main pizza or pasta pasta and dessert . I had the blackberry basil salad which was nice and my partner had the fig and goat cheese salad which was 10/10!
We shared a spicy calabrese artisan pizza and the fig and brie artisan pizza. Both were incredibly delicious. We had the brownie for dessert which you cannot miss.
We also had some lovely craft beer for totally reasonable prices.
It's also really nice to eat somewhere that is so focused on sustainability. I asked the staff about the t-shirts they were wearing and one of them explained that they are part of an organization that goes around to schools and teaches kids about gardening and sustainable food practices. Neat!
I recommend 100%
Rocky Mountain flatbread Co. is our family's favourite restaurant. Being vegetarians it offers a wide variety of sumptuous pastas & flatbreads made from fresh locally grown vegggies. Great service & helpful staff.Always a pleasure to be here .
My family and I dine at Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. a couple of times a month - it's the one place where my husband and I and our two toddlers can all have a great time! One of the biggest selling points is the kids play area - if you land a table nearby, you can relax from your table while your kids happily play away. The staff is great with kids and navigating around all the kids running around! The menu has pizza, pasta, soup, and salads, and a good size children's menu. Some of our favourites are the fig and goat cheese salad, parma pizza, chicken noodle soup, and our children don't let us leave without having the brownie and ice cream!
We had heard that The Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company was good, and I was pleasantly surprised that was even better than I expected. I was hungry, so I decided to do the whole three-course thing, which I rarely do because of money often being tight, but everything was so affordable that I decided to treat myself. I started with the tasty chicken noodle soup and ended with the delectable brownie. In between was the main course of penne bolognese pasta, and it was outstanding. The service was top-notch and the decor and ambiance were bustling but comfortable. We will definitely be back often! Highly recommended!
We decided to visit Rocky Mountain Flatbread for Dine Out Vancouver, and we weren't disappointed! The goat cheese and fig salad was delicious and fresh; the classic pizza was a perfect balance between delicious cheeses and seasoned tomato sauce. Dessert was a refreshing mango sorbet. And our server, Rory, was friendly, funny, and attentive. We will definitely be back!
The restaurant was welcoming, with a comfotable atmosphere: it felt easy sitting down there, like I was at a nice lodge in the mountains (due to the wood interior). My server was attentive to me and my friend, but I also noticed that all of the servers were great at staying on top of their tables: checking up regularly with customers, and bringing the food and drinks out promptly.
I had the $20 Dine-Out Vancouver menu, so I got to choose a salad, any small pizza, and a dessert. I had the herb salad, the Genoa salami pizza (which includes mozzarella, Genoa salami, crimini mushrooms, marinated cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, caramelized red onions, mozzafina di latte, and basil - it was a delicious pizza!), and the seasonal sorbet (which at the time was a mango peach sorbet - creamy, with well balanced flavours). Everything came out at the perfect time, the salad came with some bread, and the drinks menu had a nice selection.
There were a couple of kids' birthday parties going on at the time I was there, but they were kept pretty under control, and left part way through my meal. The restaurant can sit a lot of people, which is great for large groups, and not terrible for small parties either. I didn't find the restaurant very noisy, not like some that I have been to, where you can't even hear someone two seats down from you. Yep. Overall I was impressed with the whole restaurant. It was a great meal and a great night out!
Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. is best known for their handcrafted flatbread pizzas made with local and organic, free range organic meats and Ocean Wise seafood. They noted on one of their chalkboards that they use flour from Anita’s Organic Mill in Abbotsford, a brand that I also use in my baking. Other menu items include pastas, soups, salads and desserts. For those with food sensitivities, Rocky Mountain Flatbread can create gluten free and nut free pizzas
Had a great time out last night at Rocky Mountain Flatbread in Kits with my little sister. Fantastic, relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere where you don't feel overcrowded and the staff are amazing. Took advantage of the Dine Out dinner menu ($20 for an appetizer, small pizza, and dessert - a great deal for the perfect amount of food), and had the Fig & Goat Cheese Salad (great mix of fresh greens, mild and creamy cheese, and fig dressing) with flatbread, the Lemon & Rosemary Chicken pizza (perfect if, like me, you're not big on cooked tomatoes) with a perfect crisp crust, and then the Double Chocolate Brownie for dessert (lethally good chocolate, and real vanilla in the ice cream). Extra highlight was the Earl Grey Gin I ordered to go with the meal - it tasted the way you imagine drinks on a summer afternoon tasting, which was a nice change for January! Would definitely come here again - a great local business with excellent ethical practices and food sourcing. 5/5.
A family-friendly restaurant that I would come back to for any occasion. The food tasted amazing and it was so beautifully prepared that I didn't even need a filter on the picture. The service was friendly, and it felt like the servers knew exactly what you wanted even before you knew it, I love that. I would recommend this place to anyone, for any meal. If you're in the mood for some local food with a killer gluten-free cheesecake, come in and grab a seat.
Really amazing and fresh local ingredients used on all of their pizzas. The staff at the Kitsilano location are phenomenal, the last server I had was Mandy and she was great. Very knowledgable and friendly. I will definitely be coming back, if you haven't been to Rocky Mountain Kits- you need to go!!! xo
Hi,
I recently ate at your place in Kits. I had a red blended wine. What is the name of the wine and where did you buy it? It was so good and so was the food.
Thanks,
Lillian Prince
October 29, 2015 · by ThatShanghaiGirl · Got to visit this place for a wonderful dinner with my mom who enjoyed the restaurant even more then I did. This restaurant is very family-friendly, they even have a play corner! I noticed most of the guests were families also. Great for dinner when your to lazy to cook and want some quality food at a reasonable price!
Apart from the food being excellent, and the selection of beer being very much above average for a family restaurant, the most stand out part about this kid friendly, community oriented, speciality pizza place is the staff. They are always kind and helpful and seem to know every detail about their menu. Knowledgable and quick service! 5 stars!
Loved the Spicy Organic Chicken pizza - a new addition to the menu. My partner had "Old Faithful" the Parma, which is always delicious. Kids had a great time as always! Thanks!
Great local beer list. 7 taps of the greatest beer BC has to offer. Persephone, driftwood and philips breweries to name a few. Food was fast and fresh and well presented. Knowledgable servers were attentive and addressed our dietary concerns (gluten free) right away. Perfect for larger groups or families. We will be back
I love Rocky Mountain for everything they stand for. They always have lots of local & organic ingredients from urban farmers on their specials. My favorite is always the farmers market. Today it was topped with local zuchinni, Rainbow chard, kale & crimini mushrooms. And they have a great selection of craft beers - a little bit of craft beer heaven. Service is always welcoming and friendly.

My friend Stretch messaged me out of the blue the other week mentioning his boss wanted to invite me to do a review of their restaurant for them. His boss is none other than Suzanne Fielden, co-founder of Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. which is somewhere I’ve been meaning to visit anyway since they have a location in Kits right near me, so I happily obliged. Of course I was given the option of bringing a +1 and feared the consequences of not inviting Food Wench along, and so off we went. We had a reservation for Thursday night at 7PM which was yet another beautiful sunny day. They had a table on the patio reserved for us which was probably for the best since the place was jam packed with children playing in all the nooks and crannies of the restaurant. Apparently they’re very kid friendly, even going so far as to having a family night every Sunday that allows kids to make their own pizzas for $8. Food Wench commented on how she wanted to come back to bring her friend’s toddler here, since it was such a family friendly establishment. The place was actually packed when we got there at 7, but by the time 8 PM rolled around it had cleared out quite a bit. Food Wench figured that since most of the patrons were young families, they all had to be home early to put the kids to bed. Makes sense. In addition to being kid friendly, the restaurant is also very green friendly. They compost 100% of their waste in an Urban Stream composter found in their very own green house constructed from a modified shipping container out back in the alley (FoodWench Edit : it can compost an entire day’s worth of food scraps in just one week! Pretty cool ). They also grow their own arugula, basil, and chives in the greenhouse – it doesn’t get much fresher than that! The restaurant is also 100% nut free, which Food Wench was happy to hear since she’s aller
Romper Room on First Avenue. This is mainly a family place: screaming kids and lots of hullabalooh. Great if you like to hear other people's kids wound up at meal-times. The pizza dough is terrible. The other location on Main Street is better in all respects: go there for a decent pizza without the playground atmosphere
Tasty Lunch. Went here for lunch prior to going to a matinée performance at Bard on The Beach.
One of our party was gluten intolerant and was happily surprised by the breadth of choice of menu items that she was able to chose from.
Generally, the selection of food was good.
Two of us shared the bruschetta to start. The bread was delicious but the tomatoes in the bruschetta lacked a little flavor.
For entrées, two of us had pizza. One had the breakfast pizza, on a gluten free crust, and the other the hot Calabrese. In both instances these were excellent. Full of flavor, hot and well presented.
The remaining member of our party had the shrimp sandwich and said that it was delicious. The three of us shared one of the signature salads. This was fresh, tasty and tossed in a delightful fruit dressing.
Great selection of fruit drinks and the selection of daily specials was long and varied.
The gluten free cheesecake made a perfect closer to the meal.
Service was quick and friendly though dishes were cleared away a little too quickly for my liking. I always get the feeling that the kitchen must be really short on cutlery and crockery and that, perhaps, they would like us to get a move on. But hey, that's just me. None of the rest of our party was even aware of this!
Will definitely return to this restaurant and give it a try for supper.
The decor and atmosphere is mediterranean, spacious and airy. The tables are not crammed together. Very comfortable
Lots of local fresh ingredients. Why I love Rocky... Fresh local seasonal produce featured on their flatbreads pizzas (my fav is the Farmers Market) . Friendly low key service . Community programs . Family pizza making evenings . The taste - always fresh & delicious
Mmmmmango. I absolutely LOVE Hawaiian pizza. It is what I always order – so when I visited Rocky and didn't see it I had to take a second look at the menu. My server suggested I try the Parma (listed under the Base Flatbread Pizza section of the menu) so I decided to give it a go. I ordered a regular which was the perfect size to fill me (I am a big eater) and I have to say...I have a new favourite pizza. It was sooo good. The balance of flavours between the mango, cured ham, parmesan, arugula and mushrooms was spot on.
Although the restaurant looked busy I was greeted and sat straight away and my food came out perfectly cooked in what felt like no time. I sat in the room where they cook the pizzas and loved the large exposed kitchen and pizza oven. Good food, nice people, would absolutely come back but maybe next time order the small pizza and save room for dessert (the brownie sounds tasty).
Good pizza, great location. Definitely better-than-average pizza. Many unique flavours to choose from. I also like the relaxed atmosphere and proximity to the beach.
Fresh pizza. Roasted red pepper sauce is so dope.
We went on a Tuesday night and it was quiet and the service was superb. The selection was exciting for us vegetarians, and they use mostly local ingredients. Food came out fast. Salad was soggy but they fixed it right away by adding more greens! The pizza had a lovely fresh taste you can't get from non-local places (local mushrooms yum!). We will be back.
Great food! My sister and I stopped by for dinner along our bike ride last night. It was great to see local food, farm fed meat etc at a reasonable price. We had the blackberry fig salad which was yummy and the special flatbread of the night of organic ground beef blue cheese turnips and beets and goat cheese. so good! They have plenty of patio seating for a restaurant their size. A pitcher of sangria for $12 which was more than enough for 2. After 8 every ight they have a special for $8(?) personal pizza witha sleeve of craft beer. They even do gluten free here! Definitely coming back.
The pizza was pretty good. Nice variety of toppings.
Casual. Unpretentious neighbourhood restaurant that serves amazing food for very reasonable prices!
Don't know why people always grate their food by how cheap it is. Vancouver is expensive.
Msg. Todays taste palet is spoiled with additives and MSG's so no wonder that all those 'domino or fresh slice costumers' don't like the taste of just ingredients. I shared the bruchetta and a large 13" farmers market flatbread with my friend and that $30 bill is than $15 a person. The next reviewer who says it is expensive is either a cheapskate ( or had to pay the bill for the whole party) or does not know what foodcost means.
Decent neighbourhood pizza joint. Went here the first time during Dine Out. A decent neighbourhood pizza joint and good value for the money. It was a three-course meal for $18. I paid $1 extra and upgraded to the tomato bocconcini salad which was fine. My friend had the honey dijon peppercorn salad and it was simple but tasty.
For the mains we both had the pizza. I had the Mexicali pizza and found it very tasty. My friend, who's a vegetarian, had the Farmer's Market pizza and found it a bit bland but still fine.
The desserts were a little disappointing but still decent. My friend had a filo shell with berries and I had the brownie with ice cream. The filo shell was just that and a bit boring. The brownie was very sweet and chocolaty but had a distinct chemical/packaged taste to it. I'm a sucker for chocolate so polished it off but not the best brownie I've ever had. We realized about half way through that our two desserts would be great as one so we poured the rest of the berries over the brownie and shared. That definitely added a boost to both.
I love that this place is mostly organic and supports local farms for much of their ingredients. Service was very friendly and competent. The place was full but the staff were handling it well. Lots of kids present so just know that if you're heading in. But overall a decent place to grab a bite to eat. I'd just skip the dessert next time.
Great Pizza. Took the kids here for dinner after an evening of shopping. This place is great! The kids had a play area to blow off steam while we were waiting for our food. The prices are a little high but the food was amazing! My kids are really picky eaters but here they had lots to choose from and loved their pizza!
The service was great and the environment is perfect for a young family
When a restaurant is known to be kid friendly, some people imagine kids running around and screaming throughout their entire meal. Sure the noise is a little elevated, but what really makes this place kid friendly is the miniature wooden play kitchen, complete with aprons and chef hats, together with lengthy kids menu chock full of healthy options. There's plenty for the adults, though, with a lot of interesting menu choices, including daily pasta specials and a good selection of beers and wines. On a packed Saturday night, our server was very patient guiding us through our ordering, given our special requirements. The resulting custom flatbread (pizza) was fabulous! The comfortable and relaxed room round out an excellent dining experience.
A weekly favourite of mine when I worked in the area. Excellent rotation of soup and pizza specials as well as great regular menu items. I also realy like the pastas. To be honest I've always found te service to be somewhat slow around two to three o'clock during the week, as I believe the staff from lunch is off and the evening staff are gearing up for the evening rush. Having said that if you wave at them the service is prompt. All in all a great restraunt and I STILL occasionally come all the way from north van!
Pleasantly surprised. We found this pizza place through the iPhone app for urbanspoon - we needed a place for quick bite before a show - and were pleased and satisfied with our experience. The pizza ("Naturally Meaty") was excellent, and so was the service. There were plenty of customers - many of them with small kids, since it was Sunday, and that's "kids build your own pizza" day - and the staff had it all well in hand.
The company's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint is evident everywhere, from the menu to the art on the walls, and this makes it a great fit in the Kitsilano neighbourhood, which is one of the more earth-conscious areas in the Lower Mainland.
...Having tried the Naturally Meaty, the Feature Special, Sundried Tomato and Goat Cheese, a flattened calzone, and the Pesto Shrimp, I would say the latter was my favourite closely followed by the Sundried Tomato and Goat Cheese since those aren’t ingredients you find in your typical pizza. The bottom of the flatbread was crunchy as expected, but the dough was pleasantly soft to match....
The owner Suzanne and her entire team did a fantastic job at making us feel welcome, and the pizza making made for a really fun time.
This restaurant was very trendy but at the same time gave off a rustic/classic feel of a traditional bread artisan shop. Wooden interiors and the large open artisan ovens gave this restaurant a unique touch. I also noticed that the window sections were meant to be removed as an open patio during the summer-time. The neighbourhood itself is very quaint and unique so I’d say this place is a family-friendly AND trendy casual place to go with friends. Slightly louder background to give it a very casual feel and the kitchen is partially open so you can see your pizza being made! Only qualm I had was that our table was a little too crowded.
Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. won the award for the best $18 level restaurant last year so it was definately one to try. I’d classify it as a pizzeria with a Westcoast semi-yuppie flair. Think plenty of vegetarian, organic, oceanwise, gluten-free, nitrate-free ingredients cooked in a real stone oven. Delish!
For lunch, I ordered the Hot Calabrese - organic tomato sauce, mozzarella, hot Calabrese salami, spinach, crimini mushrooms and banana peppers. Everything topped with some fresh herbs. Wow. For all my life, I’ve hated banana peppers… but Rocky Mountain changed that. Its acidity left me wanting more and more after each byte. It also paired nicely with the spicy salami. Everything was just so fresh and tasty. Seriously, can it get any better? While I usually only get a pizza, I decided to fit in some more veggies in my lunch. So I ordered the Fresh Basil and Blackberry Salad . Fresh organic green leaves, brown mushrooms, mango and roasted red bell peppers tossed in a basil and blackberry dressing. Does that descri
Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co . is a restaurant in Kitsilano that makes flatbread pizzas. They use high quality, local, ingredients to make all of their products. The location is nice and has a rustic, comfortable feel with a bright airy patio. I was invited by Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. to come and try one of their special pizzas made for the fireworks. On each night of the fireworks, they are making a themed pizza to go with the presenting country. I went with my Mom on the night Canada was presenting, so I knew bacon had to be involved somehow! The red sangria made with local blueberries was very good. It was fruity and refreshing and the perfect Summer drink. I would highly recommend this. The Granville Island Robson Street Hefeweizen was also a good Summery drink. This beer was light, but had a tart after taste with hints of fruity flavours. The bruschetta was made with local diced tomatoes marinated in balsamic vinegar, EVOO, and fresh basil, topped with some shreds of parmesan c
I've been wanting to try the "Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company" (RMF Co.) for a long time. From what I've read online, they have very good flatbread pizza with organic and/or ocean-wise ingredients. Who wouldn't want to eat healthier and be a good global citizen? I know I do! =) Anyhow... When I saw RMF Co. on the Dine-Out Vancouver list, I was very excited and it was immediately on my "hit list". Glad that null and Greeny both like pizza, so off we went~ The interior was pizzeria - bright red wall paint that is designed to stimulate people's appetite. There was also a little kids play area with wooden toys. It certainly shouts out - "we are a kids friendly restaurant"! I love the signs for the washrooms - so simple yet descriptive. Moving on to the kitchen area, the big flatbread oven just blew my mind away. It was huge and very interesting to see all the flatbread pizzas in a line. After "quickly" discussed about what we're ordering, we decided to go with...: Bruschetta - 5/6 This di
Located in Vancouver in the trendy Kitsilano neighborhood, Rocky Mountain Flatbread offers an amazing selection of various toppings that you can order on a GF crust.
Dominic & Suzanne Fielden created Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company - a business with values the couple is passionate about - food, family, community and ecology. The Fieldens brought Executive Chef Oliver Zulauf - who has worked in top restaurants throughout Switzerland and Canada - on board with the Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company to use an integration of fine dining principles to create delicious and nutritious pizzas. Chef Zulauf is involved in developing relationships with local organic farmers (he is dedicated to using local organic produce, local free range meats an Ocean Wise seafood); creating a family friendly restaurant design; and forging environmental alliances to allow their operations to be carbon neutral. Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company now has one location in Alberta (its first restaurant), one on Vancouver's Main Street and the third in Kitsilano. Located on West 1st Avenue & Cypress Street, and
Last year my friends and I discovered the gems that are there in the $18 menu choices of Dine Out Vancouver. This year L and I continued that trend and our (well, mostly mine…my friends spoil me!!!) choice was Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company , which is mainly a pizzeria. An organic one mind you. It IS in Kits after all. I like the fact that their Dine Out menu offerings are all available on their regular menu, which means that if I enjoyed something a lot, it wouldn't be "limited edition", never to be tasted or seen again (I'm talking to YOU ! And YOU !!!) Rocky Mountain basically has two large dining areas. The inner area houses the open kitchen where you can see the pizza-making people at work! We were lucky to be seated right beside the kitchen. They didn't even have to walk out of the kitchen to serve us our food! There they also have the pizza oven. The stone exterior is just for show though. The inside of it looks completely industrial. We b
