Review The Mexican - Vancouver

Andrew Thomas
The food here is fantastic and very reasonable. Inside is on the smaller side but very comfortable and clean. The food was authentic and delicious with great portions and the staff were friendly. I don't know how our server managed all the tables here but she did a great job and our order came out quickly. Highly recommended.

I was very, very close to giving this 4 stars but I had to knock off a star for the enchiladas and the service. Let me be clear: the tacos alone here are worth 4.5 stars due to their price and flavor combo. It's only $3.50 per taco and they're amazing! That's the cheapest best price in the city. The enchiladas were underwhelming though and compared to other Mexican restaurants were much less food for the price. They were extremely rich, overwhelmingly so. The food overall here is very authentic, and perhaps if I try another dish I might change my rating. The spicy margarita was a 4/5, as it was only $10 and delicious!

Excellent restaurant and to be honest I guess the best Mexican food in downtown! I tried tacos (milanesa, pastor, carnitas and birria), they were so delicious, super tasty, I also asked for churros that were amazing. The price is very fair specially for the size of the dish, service is great and the ambiance is cool. It is very busy because food is fantastic for sure! I will definitely go back to try other dishes. I totally recommend it!

We ate a few times 2 years ago. Loved the place, couldn't get enough of the food. Haven't been since Covid and decided to try them again. The spicy margarita was fantastic and that's about it. The food was disappointing. Quality and flavors was not the same. Service was fast and good.

Amazing food and super lovely and friendly service! Their chips are delicious. The enchiladas verdes is super tasty.

I went on a date with my wife to this famous mexican restaurant and really had a pleasant experience here. We sat outside to soak in the Vancouver vibes on a brisk Friday evening where crowd wasn't too bad. Do beaware that there is a strip club across the street. We had chicken chimicanga and nachos along with a tamarind drink. Chimicanga was fried really well and nachos were good too. Portion size and price was reasonable.

First time there on weekday afternoon, 3 tables and 3 more arrived. I ordered the: Torta de Milanesa, a Tortilla soup and Horchata so: - Flavor was pretty really authentic, the bread wich was actual BOLILLO like in Mexico, the torta has everything cheese, avocato, mayo 😍 mouth watering if you miss mexican food, Sopa de Tortilla also good, like it taste just like in any restaurant in Mexico, obv not likw homemade but really good, Horchata was yummy but it need little more cold - Portions: Torta small, Horchata little, soup good - Price: Well yes it felt overprice for some dishes because the portions and the use of can ingredients (wish are difficilt to find here but still) - Kitchen: pretty fast - Service: Not so attentive or willingful with me, other tablea were offered more options and a gentile treat

The food here is great! We had the chips, lengua tacos, menudo, enchillada verrides and chimichonga. Nothing disappointed and it was a great atmosphere. We will definitely try this place again. The only thing was the service and food was very slow, but it also was very busy.

The Mexican on Granville St. Though the food was delicious, it was expensive and a tad overpriced. Granted, the greedy landlords may be forcing entrepreneurs to overprice. For starters, the small quesadilla puffs at $4.50 each was just that--a starter to whet the appetite. Two or three bites and done. The Chiles Relleno lacked the traditional batter that was expected. The Molletes needed a thicker spread of refried beans and some kind of sauce to accompany for dipping. At $4 extra surcharge, the chorizo portion could have been more generous, too. On the flip side, the bread was fluffy and chewy like a freshly baked French loaf. The enchilada sauce I requested for the side was well flavorful and full of the smoky goodness of ancho and poblano chilli's. The Tes Leches Pastilles cake was not bad but my good pal, Jose Luis P.R. makes an absolutely divine one to die for (the best in the world, seriously; his flan caramel is also soooooo fantastically good). Would I go back? Yes... But I'd order differently as the flavours are there and I know where to direct my coin.

What a fantastic place in downtown Vancouver. Lovely place with authentic Mexican food. The staff are awesome and the food is well priced For those of you with a sweet tooth I can recommend the 3 leches cake and the flan. Can't wait to visit again next time I am in Vancouver.

awesome food, best nachos ever! nice staff too. I wish the place was twice the size, and that there was a location in south delta, where there is NO mexican food whatsoever (despite everyone liking it)! 🌮 ❤️

OMG Trying my Mexican food outside my country is not always a hit. And then Is "The Mexican" antojitos y cantina..Omg. food there is delicious , and the salsas? Yup deserves another 5 stars.. Really, you people have to try this restaurant.. Oh, almost forgot. Try the mojito really good there. Just like mojitos I tried in Cuba. Most important. The service was really good, Thank you Claudia.

Most authentic Mexican food restaurant. Order the Antojitos platter to have a taste of some of the most traditional dishes. Great place.

Good food, friendly staff, and reasonably priced. Small and a little bit shabby, but enjoyable experience.

Very authentic food, not just the usual tacos/burritos/enchiladas... I tried something new: Barrigon and it was amazing! The restaurant was small and cozy and very busy. We will definitely go back... need to have those nachos again!
