Quise probar comida local y Google me trajo aquí.
Simplemente exquisito!!!

I wanted to taste something local and Google brought me here. It's the best decision I could've made. Every dish is exquisite and since I was a walk in (important to make a reservation), I was offered a space on the bar, which is the best place on the house. I was astonished watching the chef arranging perfectly every ingredient on every plate and encouraging his cooks for doing a great job. You have to go with enough money and not starving, but every cent is worth every bit, for it's like having a flavor party on your mouth.
Shut up and take my money! Simply exquisite!
I love that we can go to a top Canadian restaurant like FABLE and that my boys are welcome. Thanks so much to my good friend Trevor for an amazing meal tonight and for having a place that serves some of the best food I’ve ever had and I can still bring my kids. The duck tonight was beyond anything I’ve had before, and the entire meal was unreal. #kidfriendly #dadlife #Vancover #YVR FABLE
excellent .. one of the best place to eat and savour your meal. Flavours, texture, it`s simply fabulous. And really great to be able to share meals as well. Highly recommanded
Everything about this place is awesome, incredible staff, amazing food and wonderful atmosphere. I could eat here everyday. This place just makes me so happy all over. I'm happy when I walk in since they give such a warm greeting, I'm happy when I'm having a drink from their incredible selection, I'm happy when my food arrives. I'm even happy when I leave because I'm already plotting my next visit. As kids we all have our favourite fables, now I have one as an adult! YES!
I visit Vancouver once a year and Fable is always on my must-do list. I have now added Fable Diner to my must-do list. The food at Fable is consistently amazing. Their staff is friendly and professional. Sit at the bar and watch these perfectionists cook.
Lived up to what i expected and more. I recently moved from Ontario and this was the one place on my list. Great staff, great service, great food. Can't wait to go back.
Fabulous staff , amazing service, and the food !! And sit at the bar , bartender Dave is the best !!
Awsome diner tonight. I was there with a picky eater who can't, for health reason, eat any herbs or spices. The steak frite was done to perfection (without these items), he raved about it and cleaned his plate...more importantly I was able to enjoy my meal because he did not have one single complaint. As always Fable you don't disappoint. Can't wait for next time. Ps: my canned tuna and crusted chicken was yummy!
Honestly the absolute BEST place I've ever eaten at. Food and atmosphere was amazing and the staff was exceptional. Can't say enough good things about it.
We had the pleasure of attending an outdoor wedding that was catered by chef Trevor and company last weekend.. Although the weather was less than ideal and the cooking space was no doubt a challenge, the whole meal was out of this world!.. I couldnt stop talking about the polenta dish we had.. It was rave-worthy! Needless to say, we were very impressed by the skill and class exhibited by chef Trevor and staff on what was a very special day for the bride and groom and their families.. Thank you for giving us a memorable experience and making our tastebuds happy!
We love the in-season and local flavors. I highly recommend the spaghetti and duck meatball (appetizer)
The experiance was fantastic, from the greating to the service and flavours were all great! One of the all time top 10 for sure, they even found a way to make Brussels sprouts taste good!!
Friendly staff and reasonable price, definitely will come back again.
Each and every menu item we ate was unique and delicious. The chickpea fritters were the best and the sides were really good too. Even my husband who doesn’t love adventurous vegetables loved our zucchini flower and oyster mushroom side dishes.
We were on vacation and visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a local. It’s outside of the downtown area and we were quite happy we gave it a try. It was well worth the short cab ride.
Their special for the night was some type of pasta...it was great, you could taste the difference that fresh hand made pasta makes. Also, ordered their duck which was exceptional. Going to come back for sure!
A decent place for brunch - farm to table restaurant.
They have a small selection of brunch menu, which is executed very well.
The farmer’s muffin (scrambled eggs, sausage patty, bacon jam in between an English muffin) was delicious.
The service was excellent. Fable's crew are attentive and welcoming.
We will definitely come back!
I don’t typically take time to write reviews, so hopefully that will only help prove how awesome this place is. I came here for the first time for my boyfriend’s birthday. We had heard great things but were simply blown away. The food was complex, original and simply divine. We shared the house special appetizer of burrata with potato croquettes which we couldn’t get enough of. For mains, we got the smoked duck breast and the scallops & pork belly. We also for a serving of cornbread on the side to share. Everything was to die for. But what made that even better? We had incredible service. Our waitress was kind, engaging, thoughtful and so sweet. She treated us impeccably and always ensured we had everything we needed.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary. I like the decor of the restaurant, it looked rustic and romantic but it was quite noisy and it was full house. For the appetizer, we had chickpea fritters and it was very tasty. It was the combination of sweet and sour flavour which was delicious. For entrees, we had the pasta of the day and the scallop and pork belly with salad and hummus. Both dishes were delicious. My husband love the scallop and pork flavour but he did complain the scallop and pork belly dish was very small portion. I loved the pasta, it was very flavourful. For dessert, we ordered the maple syrup cake with a scoop of ice cream on top. We both found the dessert was a too sweet and a disappointment. The customer service was friendly and very efficient in cleaning the dirty dishes. We love the food here but we do find the price is expensive for the small entree portions.
Fresh, local ingredients. Great service and kids friendly. We always go there for lunch/brunch. I like their menu very much. The French toast with fresh fruit is delicious. The pasta is also fresh, tasty.
One of my favourites in Kitsilano for both brunch and dinner.
Service is always fantastic, the ambiance is great and the food is usually spectacular. 9/10
1st visit during Dine-out Vancouver and it was a positive experience. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the ambiance is cozy and laid back. Food was delicious and love the fact that they use fresh local ingredients. Prices are great too considering the quality of the food. Love their ginger soda!! Will definitely be back for their regular menu.
The food here is REALLY good. Love the atmosphere in the restaurant. The only downside in my opinion would be how pretentious the restaurant makes the staff. When they tell you the specials and serve your food they basically recite some poetry for you.. which makes it a bit awkward at the table.
Guess what guys? I got a new phone!! You know what that means...right?! (Besides the fact that I'm going to take a gazillion selfies...JK I wouldn't do that...selfies are gross.). But what you can expect from me is: an obscene amount of instagram stories and ironically captioned photos (actually no, I'm terrible at captions.)
If you're the nosey person that I presume you to be (which you probably are...that would explain why you're reading my blog) then you can follow me on instagram, where I'll be posting about all DA juicy details regarding my life (yup...just call me Kim Kardashian. Or Kylie...I'm most definitely Kylie. Actually ew, don't call me Kylie.)
@vancitynoms
(I have an instagram widget linked on the side of my blog now! Pretty snazzy, eh?)
Anyways, Jeremy and I went to Fable for brunch on SaturDATE (ha, see what I did there? NVM, that pun's been overplayed.)
After pouring over the menu for what seemed like ages (okay, it was actually because we were hopelessly DISTRACTED...so much so that the waitress came back to inquire on us 3 times.)
After a decidedly delightful brunch, we meandered over to O5 Tea Bar for some much warranted relaxation...in the form of Korean Tea Flights! (Recreational tea drinking is my pastime of choice.)
First time at Fable tonight. Amazing host, waiters and waitresses. We had their specials off the menu which were made with fresh ingredients and in house mixes. Definitely will be coming back.
Fable never disappoints, whether you're there for the dinner or brunch experience. Definitely go hungry with a big appetite as these comfort dishes are delectable and filling. A very homey & warm vibe, and super friendly staff adds to the comfort experience. I still dream about the gnocchi with pulled pork.
This was the best meal I've had in a long time! so. damn. good. It was also very enjoyable to sit at the bar and watch your food being prepared right in front of you. I'm tend it skip on dessert normally but because it was my birthday I split the S'more with my boyfriend and it was incredible! This place is lovely for a nice treat yourself occasion, not too pricey considering the high quality food and service.
Birthday dinner with close friends and boyfriend. Restaurant was full when we got there. Waitress was very attentive and friendly! I shared a spaghetti with duck meatball, gnocchi, and of course lemon meringue parfait with girlfriend 😊. I stole some of boyfriend's smoked duck breast. The lemon meringue was sweeter than I imagined and girlfriend complained about the little amount of ice cream in the parfait 😂. Overall was a good dinner :)
wonderful place cuz the dishes are really special and are different style as other restaurants. I love the lemon parfait very much and the beef of the main course tastes great. The waiter is very friendly.
I loved everything about this restaurant.
The staff were really friendly, very informative and great with suggestions and recommendations.
The food was absolutely delicious. EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD. We ordered everything they suggested and then some.
Chickpea fritters: YUMMY. The crispy deep fried goodness paired nicely with the creamy curry mayo and pickled red onion.
Best Canned Tuna: I didn't know what to expect but this was surprisingly good.
Spaghetti and Meatball: SO GOOD. Duck meatball with the juices bursting out tasted great with the tagliatelle and creamy sauce.
Gnocchi with braised beef: I didn't get it with the pulled pork. I got it with the special of the day I forgot what it was... some sort of braised beef. This was my favourite dish. I COULD EAT IT ALL DAY. I often find Gnocchi are small, doughy and chewy. Their gnocchi is like no other. It's big pillowy soft, sticky and delicious. Everything about this dish was perfect. Braised beef and the sauce was on point!!
My friends ordered the salmon dish, butcher's cut, and the duck breast. They all enjoyed their dishes too!
Desserts: Smores was our favourite! Perfect combo chocolate, marshmallows and ice cream. Lemon Meringue Parfait was good but a little too sweet for me.
I tried their cocktail "A Kiss From A Rose" because you know. Seal. And that was a great song. The drink was really good. Almost too good. Like a fruitier and juicier version of a vodka mojito/pink lemonade. Very refreshing! Probably my new summer drink! Summer hasn't started but you get my point. The drink was a bit small but I still loved it. I would have ordered more if it was a tad bigger.
What I also liked about this restaurant is who supplies some of their meat. My friend is Muslim and is familiar with Fable's beef supplier and knows they are halal. So he got to order their beef dishes which was so awesome! He always has to order seafood or vegetarian dishes when we go out. It was a nice change that's for sure.
I emailed to make a reservation, they were fast with responses and very accommodating. They also asked if we were celebrating an occasion and I told them we're celebrating a birthday and promotion. I thought they were going to do something special but they didn't. What was the point of asking?
Besides that small confusion. I throughly enjoyed my experience at Fable. I will definitely be back soon! Brunch?
One of the best meals I have eaten in quite some time. The atmosphere was good and the gnocchi melted in my mouth. I would like to have another wheelbarrow full, please. We also ordered the chickpea fritters as an appetizer, which were very tasty. Lastly, I noticed that the staff were very attentive, which always makes the experience that much more enjoyable. Will be returning for sure.
A nice little place with a respectable premise, that everything is either made in house or sourced locally (although the interior decor is a bit questionable... what is with the tacky lightboxes?).
My partner and I tried the salmon and the butcher's cut of the day, which was beef stilettos. I was quite satisfied with the beef, which was tender and well-flavored in a unique pepper sauce, and came on a bed of bok choy salad and roasted gai lan. It didn't blow me away, but was satisfying. My partner, on the other hand, did not enjoy her salmon that much. While fresh and free of fishy odor, the salmon was raw on the inside, and not something she is a fan of. She also claimed that the potatoes were not on par with ones from Les Faux Bourgeois, and that her dish would have benefited from more vegetables. We also ordered their homemade sourdough to start with, which was incredible, and absolutely floored my partner, who claimed it was the best in town.
This is one of two restaurants in Vancouver I've given a 5.0. Fable is truly spectacular. It's really honestly incredible on all fronts without being pretentious. The food was prepared with so much love. I had the Tagliatelle with Chorizo. It was perfectly balanced and bursting with flavor. The service was incredible. This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Kitsilano now. I'm going to try everything on their menu!
The smoked duck breast was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. The fat portion was just right and did not leave much greasy aftertaste. The quinoa, cranberries, cauliflower, and apple purée was an interesting and refreshing combination. I quite enjoy looking at the open kitchen that's close to the door. It's a busy restaurant with tight seating and quite loud as well. Service was friendly. Will be back.
Visited for Sunday Brunch, even though the place was busy, the service was efficient and the food came really quickly.
Mushroom Polenta: REALLY, really salty. However, if you can get over how salty it was, it's still a nice dish. It had a comfy food vibe with a mixture of mushroom, kale, poached eggs, and fine cornmeal.
Egg Benny (Cod Special): The poached eggs were just the right consistency for me. Slightly runny but not the type that will leak all over the plate. The cod special egg benny simply had some lemon-y cod mushed over the English muffins. The flavors were really nice but I wish they gave more fish than just a thin spread.
It was 10:25 am on a Saturday, and there was already a line up of about 15 people outside of the restaurant. Nevertheless, we were still able to grab a table shortly after at 10:35. The interior of Fable kitchen was quite spacious, and the atmosphere was pretty laid back. Their kitchen was also completely open for everyone to see.
House made tomato soup: For the appetizers, this is the one we had to come back for. There was a scare when we thought it would not return for this year, but thankfully it did.
It’s a generously sized portion, and comes topped with two pieces of their grilled cheese. Rich and thick, creamy, velvety smooth, and delicious.
Duck carpaccio: This was a feature that night, and we were sold the minute we were introduced to it.
I Went here with a friend of mine once. So please read my review with that in mind. I went for lunch and was surprised by the price on the menu. I had no idea this place was so expensive. But the food I did order was good. Not the best and definitely not worth the money I paid but good enough. Probably won't visit again tho since I could get better food for bette price.
Fable is a Farm to Table gem in Kitsilano that is a must visit for Brunch. They have a great atmosphere and an open kitchen, so if you are seated at the bar, you can watch the chefs at work! I had the Brunch Sandwich: between two slices of crusty buttered bread was the creamiest scrambled eggs I have ever had, house made sausage, cheddar, tomato jam, arugula and their house made black pepper jam. It was served with a side salad and a rosti - a crispy potato patty topped with a dollop of chive cream. That rosti was amazing and I could honestly just eat an entire plate of just rostis!
Had the pleasure of eating at Fable yesterday with my work team and we had a blast. What a wonderful spot. From the moment we walked in, we loved it. The service was excellent so say the least; our server was warm, knowledgable about everything on the menu and clearly passionate. The food - what can I even say? Every bite of every course we had was complex and delicious; there was not one thing we did not like... seriously, not one. We started with the charcuterie board which was wonderful down to the pickled vegetables. We were not embarrassed to announced we cleaned the board. My favourite item was the german sausage and it is so impressive that they make them in house every day. I then had the gnocchi with squash and pulled pork. I'm a gnocchi junkie and Fable's was light and fluffy as well as juicy and crisp. The squash was grilled to perfection and complimented the gnocchi perfectly. The pulled pork was so flavourful and the burnt onions added a whole new layer of flavour. I got got to also try the meatball pasta - astounding - the duck - like silky butter - and the pork tenderloin - simply delicious.
With friendly staff and a welcoming interior, Fable not only serves comfort food, but is a place of comfort. It boasts farm-to-table and actually delivers. They come at you with opening arms, filling your tummy and listening to your suggestions. I can’t wait until the next time I get to return for dinner, or try out their brunches just so I can indulge in another taste of their bacon without feeling weird to order it for dessert.
It was brunch time on Remembrance day and the place was quite bustlin' and hustlin'. We initially wanted to go to Sophie's but that line was even longer. And it is always cool to try something new. . I thought that the ambience was really nice but personally, while it was pretty yummy....
This is one of my favourite recommends on West 4th. During my initial visit I was so impressed by their unique offerings and their thorough service, even during a busy dinner set. So when my guest and I were looking for a solid place for a quick stop and a quick bite, this was my go to. Not to mention, that she herself has had a good experience here and wanted to go.
My girlfriend and my favourite restaurant. Food is always amazing. Love that all the ingredients are fresh and local. The owner and executive chef Trevor is a great guy and truly appreciates his customers coming in and enjoying their experience.
A few years ago I overheard my supervisor mention to another coworker that she always lets her kids stay home from school on their birthday. My ears perked up, and I immediately shot out of my seat and asked whether that meant that she was cool with me not showing up on my birthday as well. I’d caught her in a trap, and she had no way of backing out. Mua ha ha! Food Wench for the win! Ever since then, I’ve always made a point of not showing up to the lab on my birthday (because there’s nothing like a failed western blot to give you the birthday blues). Instead I usually book myself a massage, and find some friends who also have the day off to help me consume copious amounts of food and wine. And so a couple of days before this year’s birthday, I scrolled through my contacts to find a friend that would have the Friday off of work. And kept scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling. Dammit! I realised that all my friends now work weekday jobs. Damn careers. Even my teacher friends were already back at work, since it was the last week of August. Food Wench fail. But then inspiration struck. Drunken Master “works” from home multiple days a week. Also he’s a monster that can’t say no to food. Perfect!
Fable, probably the best casual dining experience I've had in a while. I went with a date and managed to scoop the last walk in table. I ordered many things, the special: baguette with i think it was chili mayo... canned tuna, cauliflower, duck meatball and tagliatelle, gnocchi with pulled pork, duck and special: halibut. For dessert we ordered the "oops! I dropped the dessert"
Baguette: twas the bomb... freshly baked bread is always awesome!
canned tuna: pretty solid dish. I would order it again
duck meatball: Best! Best! Best dish in the restaurant. the meatball had a great crust and was very nice and juicy on the inside. the sauce was pretty on point too. If you synergized the baguette with the meatballs... wow, what an amazing sandwich youd have!
cauliflower: mediocre, it tasted okay but its only worth having once.
gnocchi with pulled pork: the sleeper hold of a dish. Eating this will put you to bed...
duck: macadamia nuts.. interesting... The dish needed a jus or a sauce to go with the duck. Duck itself was well cooked
halibut: lots of green. It was okay all together but it wasnt the outstanding star
Oops I dropped the dessert: great dessert! the waffle cone, the ice cream... it was a creative, whimsical dish. I loved it.
Chef Trevor is doing a great job at fable. It is definitely a must go to, destination restaurant in vancity. It is the epitome of casual, home style cooking. i recall tipping 40%...definitely worth the experience!
Was randomly walking past the restaurant and decided to go in. The food is savoury and rich in favour, yet well balanced. For some dishes, the simple description on the menu actually doesn't help you visualise the experience you would have when eating in Fable Kitchen.
The best dish we has was the Octopus salad - on par with the best roast potato I've ever had. Sometimes it's through the simplest things that you could appreciate the chef's attention to detail. The roasted potato is crispy on the outside and so soft when you bite into it. The octopus is grilled to the right timings, preserving it's freshness yet giving that roasted taste. Overall every bite is a challenge to your taste buds. It's full of flavour - sour, sweet, salty, fresh, yet it's all very well balanced.
Brunch is one of Vancouver's national past times. Just scroll through your weekend ig feeds and you'll see. Therefore, a post about brunch is a must. There are quite a few places: Catch 122, Cafe Medina, Sophie's Cosmic Cafe. However, my favorite has got to be Fable, a farm to table restaurant at the heart of Kits.
I first went here with K for a dinner service last summer, and we both loved it. So, we decided to come back for brunch to see if it was as good. AND IT WAS. I have since been there a couple more times and it's such a solid, consistent place.
Food/Drink: Dinner: I would recommend the Spaghetti and Meatballs, just because it's interesting. It's served as a small serving of tagliatelle on a bed of cream sauce with a duck meat ball at the center of the dish. When you break it open, sauce oozes out and infuses the whole dish. Mix it with the cream sauce and boom: taste buds come alive. (Plus, it's fun.) The canned tuna, which is one of Fable's more popular dishes for is not too bad, but a bit too fishy for me. (It's fun though. They ask you to mix it up in its tiny mason jar)
For brunch, we had the French Toast, which had the perfect consistency. It was not too soggy so you can still feel the crunch of the toast. It's topped with candied walnuts and the mascarpone adds a nice savoury taste to compliment the sweetness. #sogood.
Ambience: The walls are laid with interesting quotes and photos. There's some chalkboard action too. It's a great casual dining place. Chill enough to not be intimidating, fancy enough to impress.
BONUS: A 3 minute walk from Rain or Shine, if you want a post-dinner treat.
Service: Very personable servers. They take the time to explain what the specials and the regular menu items are. No rush as you order. They top your drink off regularly.
Transport: From UBC, take the 84 VCC-Clark bus and get down on Burrard. Walk about 4-5 minutes and you'll hit it.
Came to Fable for lunch today with my husband. I had the feature open faced Breakfast sandwich which had their house made bacon, sunny egg, sourdough with greens and hash browns. Hubby had the grilled cheese with pulled pork. Portion sizes, while not huge, were sizeable enough. Taste was wonderful and service was quick. Price was just over $20 per person, but we both had a glass of wine too. I would definitely recommend Fable, looking forward to coming back for dinner!
Ok, there were four of us who came in for brunch. I had the breakfast stew which was good but wouldn't have it again, but...service was amazing! And the other three of our group had just amazing dishes! French toast, eggs Benny, and the special of the day. I had a bite of each and my mind was blown with each taste. The hash brown was very impressive and so was the sausage party! We'll be back again for sure, next time, dinner.
The overall balance of sweet and salty and sour did not play well on this dish – overall not well executed. Address: 1944 West 4th Avenue, Metro Vancouver. Type of Restaurant: Canadian, Seafood. Price Range: $$$. Will come back? Yes – to try other items
Just a really cool place to go. Ambiance is great because everyone one else is pretty much there for the same reason- watch your food being made and having your mind blown with the flavors.
It's an experience that will having you wanting more.
We had the beef carpaccio and canned tuna- Oh wow were we impressed.
I had the Steak Frittes and my wife had an amazing salmon dish that I actually enjoyed. And I despise almost ALL salmon.
Highly recommended!
Fabulous Fable Kitchen!. Best-food-EVER! This place is hard to get a seat but we came right at 5pm and got seated right away. Service was friendly, atmosphere casual and menu was short...but everything on it is AMaZING! We got three appetizers...kept ordering more as each one was so good and we couldn't decide...chickpea fritters with curry mayo, smoked salmon on cornbread pancake and the house-made cornbread with miso butter...freshest food I have ever tasted...the flavours were incredible....mmmmm! For dinner I decided to be bold and try duck for the first time in my life...it was served smoked, with applesauce and rhubarb, presented on top of quinoa laden with hazelnuts and dried fruit...it was the most delectable thing I have ever tasted! My mouth exploded with all the fresh flavours and textures. My husband got the butcher's cut steak served with house fries and black pepper jam...he loved it and would not share with me, it was so good! The only bad thing is we were so full by the end of this delicious meal that we had no room for their mouth-watering dessert list. We will definitely be back to try that next time. Can't wait!!
Lives up to the hype. Five friends had a fantastic dinner there. The food was exceptional. Both imaginative and unpretentious. Not to mention great cocktails and wonderful service. It's a little spendy but the portions are generous. The one drawback was our entrees took a while to come out (more than 30 mins after the appetizer) so if it's really busy I recommend getting an appy and a stiff drink or two to tide you over. Reservations a must. I was ready to go back a week later
I truly recommend that you get down to Fable Kitchen and try what is sure to be one of those happy shuddering culinary moments for you!
As I have mentioned before we are so very fortunate to have a culinary disneyland unfolding more and more each day in the Vancouver lower mainland. Trevor Bird – one of Top Chef Canada’s top competitors opened Fable in approx April 2012. The restaurant is is the perfect size and laid out in a comfortable way for you to enjoy food and drinks with friends or co-workers as well as a nice romantic dinner with your love.
If you are fortunate enough to be able to sit at the “chefs wood” then you are in for a treat.
Whether you see Chef Trevor Bird or any of his team commanding the kitchen you will see the workings of a well oiled (olive probably) kitchen machine.
Great value for lunch. I had lunch here with many people and we've always had consistent great food and service for lunch, and that's challenging for the restaurant team. Never dissapointed. Good value for what your getting at lunch.
This place is so wonderful. It's not surprising at all to see it recommended as the best brunch spot on so many sites. The wait can be long, but the food is totally worth the wait. Their tomato jam is out of this world, and goes oh so well with savory dishes.
Wonderful restaurant by chef/owner Trevor Bird. Terrific daily menu and brunch menu (look out for boozey brunch which happens once a month). Food taste great here and staff are very friendly. If you have a chance try their homemade jams, they are excellent! (You can buy the jams)
Top Chef-worthy. I like everything about this restaurant. It's a lovely place with a great concept. I have been there a few times now, and every time it has been a delightful experience. The service staff are all very friendly and polite. The dishes are usually served quite quickly, and are always beautifully presented. For a bit of entertainment, you can sit at the bar and watch the kitchen staff preparing meals right in front of your eyes. I found some of the tables to be a bit small, and as it is a small space, it can get very noisy after 7:00pm. The paper menu sheets were a little crumpled, so a little improvement could be made here.
The chickpea fritters are very delicious, served with curried mayonnaise - this is something I will order every time! The Tomato Soup with a mini grilled cheese is also very flavourful and comforting. The Gnocchi, Potato-crusted Chicken and the Flat-iron Steak are all great choices for the entree. If you have a sweet tooth, you can't go wrong with any of their desserts, including the Maple Cake with vanilla ice cream. I'm really hoping they bring back the Chocolate Pudding!
Almost a perfect evening. My GF and I decided to celebrate our Birthdays at Fable. We made reservations online and were emailed back a confirmation. Upon arriving I was pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately although the hostess was obviously busy with other people who had arrived without a reservation. To say the restaurant was busy is an understatement. Anyways the entire dining experience was excellent. 8/10 for food, 9/10 for service. The dessert of some warm maple cake was incredible! I would highly recommend Fable.
This place never disappoints! Food is always fresh, dining room is warm and welcoming, and the waitstaff's knowledge of their food is very impressive. I like the attitude and vibe of the staff here- they make the menu seem more like "guidelines" instead of set-in-stone dishes like other restaurants- this gives the place a bit more personality.
Garlic Aioli. Mmmm yes that white garlicy sauce.... Duck meatball and spaghetti for the appetizer, delicious, loved the parmesean sauce, light and flavourful. Steak was very good, cooked perfectly, the broiling had a glaze drizzled over it for the added flavour and the potatoe wedges were great. I'll just say it again, the garlic aioli and the blackberry jam were great to have around the smother the food in.
Good food, beautiful space, buzzing sophisticated atmosphere, knowledgeable staff. Home run.
Canned Tuna. Out of this world good! Love Fable! Love Chef Birds and his teams creations!
Nothing fancy but really good meals!. Every time I visit here I always get to the realization how much I need nothing-fancy-but-really-good meals. Located on the old ReFuel in Kits, this cool restaurant has been serving for that exact craves of mine for a while now. My go-to dish here is Steak Frites. Yeah, it's good ol' steak and fries. Boring this dish may sound, but it is not. Steaks, potatoes, mushrooms, and kai-lan broccoli. And add a cup of lemonade to that mix, I'm in my perfectly peaceful week evening. Seating can be a short wait, so a planning would be recommended.
Yes they are good..... No wonder why they have great reviews and ratings in Urbanspoon. They are good. Nothing else to describe!
Delicious farm to table sustainable cuisine. The service was awesome, you get the meet the owners of this restaurant instantly! i am vegetarian and the owner suggested a few dishes that were popular that i should try. i ended up ordering the pan fried gnocci with grated onion, green pea sauce, diced red and yellow pepper and a bit of tomato. it was so delicious, could really taste the quality of the ingredients they were using. very impressed!
Great atmosphere and staff. I really liked the staff and service I received here today when I came for lunch with my friend. We didn't catch the name of our server but she was very warm, motherly and friendly... I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. She was very diligent in refilling our drinks and waters as necessary and wasn't obtrusive in any way. Unfortunately at 12:30pm they were already sold out of their daily feature, so we both settled on the burger with daily soup (creamy tomato) instead. The patty was cooked medium rare which was perfect, and the bun was crispy and flavourful. The soup was SO delicious, just like our server promised! I think a restaurant's atmosphere is a real deal-maker or breaker for me and Fable Kitchen definitely won me over.
Great food! Fabulous service!
Dropped by for brunch. Service was wonderful and drinks were tasty. The Benedict and steak and egg entrees were just normal, and if we had stopped there, the review may have been borderline negative due to the high price. However, as we had just came in from some intense exercise, we felt the need to order a third entree, the pulled pork jack cakes; my god. The exquisite taste and texture of this dish single handedly lifted Fable back up to being a positive experience.
In summary: not the most consistent across all dishes, but when you order the right thing, you'll be wow'd away.
Great meal for our Anniversary. Busy, yes. Reservations, recommended. Food, fantastic. Wife and I had watched Trevor on Top Chef Canada and decided after seeing reviews to check out Fable. Great meal as we were visiting from Calgary and enjoyed the entire meal and presentation. Highly recommended.
Love the innovative menu, friendly staff, cozy atmosphere. 'Canned tuna' is the best!
Memorable and delicious. These guys really take pride in their food. From the presentation to quality to sustainability this is a dining experience to remember. The servers know their stuff! I go here for every special occasion and get the canned tuna. I also always get dessert and I'm not a dessert fan usually. Trevor came to my table each visit to get feedback on his dishes. I really feel like dining here is a must for anyone in Vancouver who likes good quality food and lots of flavour in a comfortable higher end restaurant. Oh sit at the counter on a date and watch your food being prepared
Vancouver would have a real food scene if people ran their restaurants this way.. Instead it has a few gems in a haystack....and Fable is one of them.
Sitting down with the lady for a Birthday Dinner, we opted for the kitchen bar (as I always will as retired trade in the industry).
Service was extremely friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Menu was smart and terse and not a novel where you have to wonder 'What's good?' ' Can you recommend something?'.
Wine list full of young wines and overall very uninteresting, which is ok I guess since its a food first restaurant.
Started with a Quail special and the Canned Tuna. Both were quite tasty although the Qual was fried whole and a little bit under. I mentioned that and immediately Trevor came over and asked. I provided some feedback and he thanked me for it and the constructive criticism and went immediately back to the line to make adjustments. Wow.
Main we shared the Squash Gnocchi with ricotta and almonds. Really different but balanced, well seasoned. We had a side of Broccolini which was by no means an afterthought. Perfectly blanched, cooked and seasoned and not doused in butter to produce flavour.
For dessert, we went for the Cheesecake with Chai caramel and pickled apples. Every item on the plate was perfect but the cheesecake portion was really small.
After the meal, Trevor approached me again and was happy to hear feedback.
This is the type of person who cares about the food and your experience and if it continues will be as successful as a restaurant as it wants to be. It's a refreshing change to see this level of skill and competence without the arrogance.
Would return for as long as it stays this way.
Pretty good brunch. Brunch is pretty reasonable compared to other places in the area (Sophie's, Abigail's, etc). Thought the portions were a little stingy, though that's always true in pricier restaurants. Service was really friendly though, and the vibe was great. We had the salami eggs benedict that was on special and it was pretty good - nothing to blow me out of the water though.
Good but not great. Came here based on the recommendations of multiple people. While the dinner was certainly good, it's hardly the best I've had in the city. The service was excellent, and so were the drinks, but I think what it boils down to is excessively adventurous combinations of ingredients that don't really work that well in the end. My halibut was masterfully cooked, but fish just doesn't go with mushrooms; neither do mussels (the side was a soupy mushroom/corn/mussel concoction). I didn't care much for the "PB&J" dessert, either, the grape and the peanut butter tastes seemed to crash. The "canned tuna" appetizer was quite good, and so was my friend's cheesecake (and, according to her, the milk-poached chicken - I didn't try it), but given the number of raves I heard about this place, I certainly didn't expect a "hit or miss" type of food.
Amazing.. My mom was visiting from Ontario. I knew I had to take her to Fable. I had been once before to celebrate a friend's graduation, and it instantly become my favourite restaurant.
We were lucky enough to have Chef Bird do a tasting menu for us, and he absolutely nailed it. He started us off with a raw oyster paired with a shot of scotch - such a unique taste. Next, we had a tomato soup that makes you completely forget about every other tomato soup you've ever had. The soup was paired with an heirloom tomato martini, which was so unique and delicious. For our third course we had the canned tuna (the only dish that was a repeat from my first Fable experience), and somehow it was even better than I remembered. Our fourth course included a very embarrassing experience for me: Chef Bird prepared a trout dish (that I thought was superb), but my mother, who is extremely finicky when it comes to fish, could not stomach it. Being the awesome chef that he is, he immediately had her dish taken away and prepared her a duck meatball with garlic foam that she absolutely adored. Impressive stuff. Our main course was a chorizo-stuffed rabbit with polenta that had mascarpone cheese folded in. Unreal. And for dessert, we were presented with a trio of strawberry cheesecake, lemon meringue, and chocolate-peanut butter-pop rock creation that was the perfect ending to an incredible meal.
Add to this meal a second-to-none staff who fully explained each course and how to get the most out of each plate, and you have the ideal dining experience.
Thanks so much, Fable. I'll definitely recommend you to anyone looking for a spectacular night.
Amazing team amazing food amazing service this place has it all if you want an experience this is the place to go
Very delicious ! Excellent service ! Price ain't cheap, you pay what you get !
Second visit, just as good as the first!. This past weekend was my second visit to fable with a group of friends. Both times it exceded my expectations! I have worked in restaurants for over 10 years, and they hit the mark on food quality, presentation, service, flavor, and value!
A friend of mine is a big fan of Top Chef Canada and Trevor was nice enough to come out and chat for several minutes. Nice touch!
Go here! It will be worth it!
Excellent Food. I wish I hadn't waited so long to visit! Almost everything for our table of four was perfect - the steak tartare (which may have been a special) was a standout, as was the duck breast, on the most perfect spaetzle. I found the tuna in a jar a little too sweet/candied lemony for me, but it was still good, and the service was attentive without being overbearing.
I also found the portions sizes quite reasonable for the prices.
My only complaint is the room itself - I see from previous comments they have tried to do something about the noise, but it is not enough. I don't know how loud it was before, but for me (in my mid-thirties, and well beyond my night-club years) I am not happy when I can't hear the waitress or dining companions. Maybe some fabric on the walls would held? Also, the AC was definitely not up to the task for a warm August. I never went here when it was Fuel, but if I recall, one of their issues was the strangeness of the space. However, the food is worth, I'll just wait till the weather cools down.
My friend said.. the parfait is what dreams are made of.. Service: Friendly and attentive wait staff, could hold a conversation without sounding overly salesman-y. I didn’t have to ask to have my water replenished more than once. The server was enthusiastic when it came to the food and would readily give recommendations, we tried the canned tuna that he recommended and it was marvelous.
Food: We had 1 appy (Canned Tuna) 2 entrees (the duck breast and another no longer on the menu) 2 desserts (lemon meringue parfait and blueberry lavender tart). We finished the crostinis that came with the canned tuna and they gave us more so we could polish the tuna off. Wow, the tuna was GOOD. The duck breast was a little disappointing as it was a bit chewier than anticipated through the flavor was good but the cabbage a little saltier than I would’ve liked. My friend had the entrée that was the 63 slow poached egg with the pea puree. The pea puree was surprisingly refreshing. Dessert was fabulous, my friend is a bit of a lemon meringue snob and she absolutely LOVED the lemon meringue parfait. I know that she’s been back a few times already and has ordered it each time. Overall for our meal + 1 drink it came our meal came to just under $100.
Ambience: the restaurant was packed, and quite loud. They had interesting décor with a chalkboard full of specials and artwork hung up along the walls. It was great that the kitchen/bar area was open and you could watch what the chefs in the kitchen were doing. Seating was a bit tight but I guess there’s not a choice since there’s just so many people wanting to come in!
Definitely would return again and bring new people with me!
Lovely! Went with my boyfriend for his birthday and was very impressed with the food and service. The dining area is a bit too squished for my liking, but hopefully they will expand in the future. Value is definitely there, as i ordered the asparagus salad and the p gnocchi and couldn't finish either, never mind the dessert! Casual setting with attentive service. Will be coming back!
Great Food, Great Service!. I came here for my graduation dinner and it was amazing! Our server (Nick) was so attentive - we never had to ask to have our glasses refilled, and he explained every dish with great detail. We had the set menu with family style second course and dessert. Needless to say, we were full by the second course and every one of us had to pack our entrees! Leaving for Calgary the next day, I have to say - the food kept well :)
We were one of the last tables that night and we saw all the kitchen staff promptly cleaning the kitchen. My aunt (who has a thing for cleanliness) was extremely impressed.
The night ended with me taking a picture with Trevor - he is just such an enthusiastic and friendly guy. Nick held the door open for us as we left and you could just tell that the entire staff loves working there!
Highly recommend it to anyone! And I will be sure to go back whenever I go back to Vancouver!!
Warm and hearty meal. Came here for a family style dinner event that was for charity so there were off menu items that I unfortunately cannot rename :( But everything put in front of me was absolutely delicious. We were served so much food I thought my date was going to pass out. aha! The highlight of the night was definitely the desserts- not a huge fan of macarons but they were brilliant here and the lemon dessert (some sort of custard and sorbet) was the best lemon dessert I have ever had. I usually opt for chocolate or coffee but this one was delish! Will definitely be back.
Excellent kits restaurant. Wonderful homey atmosphere. efficient but relaxed service. incredible food, all made in the restaurant. drop by and try the lemon meringue, I've never had anything like it! delish!
Always the Best. Have never had a bad meal here. Always on my mind when planning to go out for a great dinner. Try the canned tuna, it is amazing!!
Also a great choice for weekend brunch. If you can make it for one of their "Boozy Brunches" (usually the last Sunday of the Month), cheap beers and Caesars along with an amazing brunch menu,
Great Atmosphere. Came here one night and although we had reso's we still had to wait 20 mins. The atmosphere is amazing, very laid back and chill. I love the open kitchen at the front. I enjoyed watching them make food as I waited. The food was amazing although small in portion. I had the chick pea fritters and they were amazing. The waiter warned us that the portions were big so we should order 3 appies. When the appies finally came, we felt that it was a lot smaller than they made it out to sound. The waiter also didnt seem to know that much about wine, which was kind of disappointing.
Hopefully this restaurant stays, as this location has a bad track record for constantly changing.
Damn Good.. Went to Fable two weeks ago on a friday night. It was my moms 60th birthday. This the was perfect place to go. Im not even sure where to begin because everything was executed so well!
One of the owners seated us and the staff knew it was my moms birthday and everyone that was helping us acknowledged it. We had great service and are waitress was authentic and real, which I highly appreciate.
The atmosphere was chill. Open kitchen concept was cool plus cute guys working in the kitchen, bonus for me, haha.
But the best thing of all was the amazing food! Every dish I had made me smile, all the flavours and textures were perfectly put together. The sauces were fantastic and the food tastes fresh, like right from the farm fresh.
I cant say I have a favourite because all the dishes we shared were great, the Gnocchi, Steak Frites, Leek & Potato Soup w/ Cod, Brassica Salad, Beet Salad, Lemon Tart and Chocolate Terrine.
Just order the whole freaking menu!
They brought out the Lemon Tart dessert with a candle on it, by the way this dessert is to die for. Following this the chef, Trevor Bird, came out and we thanked him for the beautiful dinner and had a nice chat with him. He a really nice and humble guy with a clear passion and talent for what he does.
Ontop of the night being wonderful he gave us a dessert on the house!
Thanks to everyone at Fable for making this an extra special night for us.
Your restaurant has really got all the components working together in harmony. Loved it. Will be back every chance I get!
Our party of three had a wonderful dining experience mid week at Fable! One of our group is a coeliac and the staff were very knowledgable of the menu and happy to advise what was suitable and which dishes could be modified. The service was prompt and not intrusive. The food was delicious. It was all very fresh and the steak and ribeye we ordered was cooked to perfection. The lemon tart is a must and the Gorgonzola cheesecake is worth a try! If I lived in Vancouver I'd be a regular.
Crazy awesome. The food is wonderful, and there is a range of options for vegetarians. My husband and I have visited three times now and have loved the photo every time. We already have plans to go back at least three more times with various groups of friends.
Just had my 30th birthday dinner at Fable. Food outstanding, service exceptional. Definately will be back and will be spreading the good word.
Outstanding food and service!. I was visiting Vancouver on business and being a huge Top Chef fan I decided to go to Fable for dinner. I had a fantastic experience! I showed up without reservation, but was able to get a great spot at the bar with a view of all the action in the kitchen. The staff was superb - very attentive and friendly, but not at all pretentious. This place is happening and the vibe inside is great and worth all the accolades its getting. Chef Trevor was there too and he was very much in charge of the place and ensuring that everything was done perfectly. As for the food I really enjoyed the beet salad, the canned tuna (very unique dish), the gnocchi, and the grapefruit macaroon was amazing too. I’d highly recommend this place to all my friends and will definitely stop by again next time I’m in Vancouver. A+
Fable-ous dinner!. We did not go for their dine at table menu. Attentive service but a little bit slow. The dinner took 3 hours. Food was great!! Canned tuna was good but i feel like a little overrated. I would like to try their spaghetti and meatball. Flat iron steak was perfect for me. Some people might found it undercook but it was totally fine for me! The black pepper jam was great!! I could find black peppercorns. We tried all of their dessert. I liked their apple ice-cream + pear sorbet. I found the chocolate beet fondant a little weird. I could taste the beet. It was good to try but I don't think I will order it again.
Will definitely go back for brunch!! I want to try their tomato jam.
Looooove it! Hold on, let me start from the beginning.
Great decor, great service, great food. The price range is moderate, but the portion is definitely small. The quality and the taste makes up for the portion size. From the appy to the dessert, the food taste was excellent. Basically, loved it!, I guess I said that earlier already.
Overall experience: two thumbs up
Only Good Things. I loved Fable Kitchen! I went here for my birthday dinner with my family and everything was excellent; the food, the service, the drinks. I would definitely come back here. Because they change their menu seasonally there were a couple items that we got (since it was the first day they had opened since the winter break) that even the waitresses hadn't tried yet. However, these items, like the rest, were spot on excellent. Everyone at my table loved their food. Seriously, check it out.
