we went for a late dinner and it was my first time at Rocky Mountain flatbread. ordered an appie and a couple of their artisanal flatbread. everything was so good. great balance of flavours of the saltiness of the ham and the sweetness of the figs!
love it and will be back for more!
Dine Out Vancouver is in full swing and with two weeks left, you still have time to take advantage of the deals and the ability to try somewhere new. Like “Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co.”. Looking at them, you wouldn’t think they are more than a simple salad and pizza place. But behind their all wooden exterior is a restaurant that offers so much more. More on their menu, and more for their community.
In search of something fun to do this past New Year’s, my family and I decided to attend the Rocky Mountain Flatbread‘s family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration. Tickets were very affordable and priced at $25 for adults and $20 for kids which included a three-course dinner and entertainment for the kids. The celebration took place at both the Main Street and Kitsilano locations. Seeing as how we had never been to the Main Street one, we decided to visit that location for the event.
Friendly service and delicious, fresh food. Their Flatbread pizzas and stuffed mushrooms are amazing! Didn't have to wait long at all for our meals to come out. Will definitely be coming here again.
Good ambience, friendly services. I was never a pizza person, but the flat bread here were very tasty. Wouldn’t mind coming back for a Sunday Brunch again.
Hello my fellow food enthusiasts! Welcome to another installment of Dineout Vancouver 2018! We decided that we would go with a different cuisine each round we go so tonight was Italian at Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. . What’s Dineout Vancouver? It’s a food event and Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. is on the $20 menu. So an appetizer, pizza or pasta and dessert for $20? Sign me up! To catch you up on my adventures thus far, I’ve been to Dosanko, The Park and Max’s Restaurant.
Came here on a weekend for brunch and it got busy fast. It is very kid friendly (lovely kids menu) and also offers gluten free options.
Flatbreads were delicious. Love the thin crust which makes it a nice light meal..also not too greasy at all. Asiago garlic flatbread was a nice crispy starter. The roasted garlic dip was full of flavour. We also had the daily feature soup (beet soup) and chicken noodle soup. While they were tasty, felt it was a small portion. Was kind of a tease as we wanted more!!
Service was friendly and attentive. Nice weekend brunch/lunch venue.
Having a baby or toddler is hard. Not only are you completely exhausted all the time from having to take care of a tiny human being, but it becomes so much harder to eat out. Which especially sucks considering that the last thing you want to do after a day of running around after a tiny human is make dinner. For many of my friends, having small kids means limiting dinners out to a handful of chain restaurants. White Spot, Denny’s, IHOP, Boston Pizza….Not the most exciting of places. Thankfully, after doing a little research I discovered that there are a small handful of independent, family friendly restaurants scattered around Vancouver that cater to those with young children. And by family friendly I don’t just mean that they have high chairs. I’m talking about places that not only have a children’s menu, but also a children’s play area for when the kids inevitably get bored sitting around the table. So when Baby Mama, Baby Dada, and The Scowling Baby wanted to meet up for brunch recently and proposed White Spot, I suggested we try something a little different – Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company. The restaurant was such a success with The Scowling Baby (when she wasn’t scowling at me) that I also suggested it to my family the following weekend when we were looking for somewhere to go with Little Batman.
Great for kids. Good food. Not great. But high quality, average creativity. Will please anyone in the crowd. Gluten free options. Service really approachable and laid back. I had the West Coaster Flatbread. It was really good. My wife had the pasta, she was not as impressed. Kids menu is great.
We always ALWAYS go when we're craving pizza.
My boyfriend and I have two allergies l, I am celiac and he has a dairy allergy, we always know we can eat great food here.
The service is always great and the pizzas are even better. I definitely recommend their gluten free crust it's the best I've had in the city.
As I walked though the door I was greeted with smilies and wonderful live music, playing some classic tunes. After a couple minutes wait our server Sarah lead us to our table. The restaurant was decorated with local and funky art. Soon our food arrived and wow. There was so much flavour (even in the sauce) and I can see how much love and passion was put in to my pizza. This place is no joke. The people, the memories and of course the food. I have been to this restaurant many time and every time I leave it's with a big smile and tummy full of incredible food. :)
I live around the corner and this is one of my favorite family restaurants. I love the food & beers on tap & the warm & friendly service.
My favorite order at Rocky Mountain - Bruschetta to start (diced tomatoes with garlic & diced tomatoes) with house made baguette, Farmers Market flatbread (which changes with fresh seasonal produce) todays came with house made pickled RED BEETS! And for dessert warm double chocolate brownies with house made vanilla ice cream - always good to share with family. And I tend to pair this with Fat Tug IPA.
My little man Luke loves his ham and mango pizza with house shirley temple.
We are always welcomed with a warm hello from the team! And there is always lots to do to keep my kids entertained - pizza making nights is one of their favorites, watching the team create their pizzas in their huge oven and when they were littler they did play in the kitchen play area.
I was invited by an old friend of mine, to have dinner. Now they have two kids and finding a place where we could enjoy good food and have them entertained is somewhat hard to find... At least that is what I thought. Within seconds of confirming our plans he suggested Rocky Mountain Flatbread. He did not lie when he promised me I would love it.
The kids where busy drawing, making their own pizza and munching it, while we had a good time with some good food and nice craft beers.
Naturally Meaty flatbread, oceanwise shrimp sandwich, organic pasta...so many delicious dishes and all gluten free available! love it! The best place to enjoy food with family.
My favorite pizza at Rocky Mountain is their sundried tomato & goat's cheese - so many delicious flavours all melted together - goat's cheese, artichokes, sundried tomatoes & mushrooms. Service is super friendly and fast - I do not think I have ever waited more that 15 minutes for my pizza. For dessert you have to try their warm double chocolate brownies with ice cream - it is full of chocolate goodness and they even make their own vanilla ice cream. Ambience is super casual and warm - big open fire place where they bake all of their pies. Prices are very reasonable for a restaurant using lots of local and organic ingredients.
Last week, Phil & I went to Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. for the first time. We heard many great things about their handmade fresh pizzas and we were delighted that we finally had the chance to go try it out! They have two locations in Vancouver, one located in Kits and the one we went to is located on Main Street. Their exterior front was decorated in halloween decor and their exterior front just gave off a sense of coziness to the place. Definitely a great place to hang out and enjoy a freshly made pizza on a cold, rainy day.
Fig and Goat Cheese Salad – Assorted Greens, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Goat Cheese, Black Mission Fig Dressing, Vancouver Grown Sunflower Sprouts. This is one of their signature salads and I really enjoyed it. I automatically like anything with goat cheese, which ended up being the dominant flavour of the dish
To start, we ordered the homemade iced tea and lemonade. Both were not very sweet, I would have preferred my lemonade to be sweetened a bit more because it tasted like concentrated lemon water (which I know is essentially what lemonade is… but more sugar would be nice). It was definitely a drink where you take occasional slow slips because of how sour it was.
I ordered the ‘parma’, which came with organic tomato sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan, cured ham, arugula, mushrooms, and mango. Perhaps the most interesting topping on this was the mango, but I was very intrigued and had a good feeling that all the flavours would go well together. Was I correct?
Great place and excellent gluten free options! Gluten free crust often falls flat for me but this place does it right! The fig and goat cheese salad is my favourite starter.
If your looking for a good place to come with your friends and their kids then this is the place! Great menu, with lots of options for veggie and meat lovers alike. Very accommodating in regards to gluten free options and general substitutions. I've been on several occasions without kids later in the evening and had a really relaxed evening drinking house made sangria on the patio watching the world go by!
I heard about this place through word of mouth. I went on a Monday evening & took advantage of their pizza making & $5 craft beer special. I created my own delicious pizza with Conner (my pizza host for the evening) topped with Cured ham & arugula & fresh parmesan - yum & washed it down with a delicious pint of raspberry Bridge pale ale. Service was very welcoming & friendly & food & beer get the thumbs up from me. One of my new neighbourhood favorite for a casual bite.
I love their pasta! Last week they had one with asparagus and it was delicious!
And on their website, I found out about their school learning program called earthbites. Pretty cool that a restaurant are so involved with the community!
I met up with some friends today at Rocky Mountain Flatbread. I ordered a fig and goat's cheese salad, which was great - really fresh and the sweet fig dressing blended so well with the saltier goat's cheese. The salads come with a side of flatbread, so it was a meal in itself! Service was quick and friendly. My friends and I had a great time.
just found zomato. Love this restaurant. Actually both of them. Moved into the hood a few years ago because of places like this. Food is awesome, service casual and friendly. My favourite is the Parma at the moment but I think I am addicted to their brownies. Had the bruschetta this time as I was extra hungry. So so fresh. Keep up the good work Rocky people.
First. A moment of silence - for the death of Urbanspoon. You will be missed. Urbanspoon has been a part of my life since 2013, I've logged on everyday since. Although it's still "there" in a sense, Zomato will never replace US. Sad, but life goes on. I'm going to miss your blueness. How you united foodies from all over Vancouver. How you made me hunger in the middle of the night. I always liked you better than Yelp.
Sheepie and I wanted to go back to Sweet Revenge, but it had a really long lineup, so we walked around in the neighbourhood and came upon Rocky Mountain Flatbread. Since we already had dinner, we were only there for dessert. We both had their special daily cheesecake $7.50 each. The server was kind enough to make me a Rooibos Latte $3, and allowed Sheepie to instruct her on how to make a Latte Macchiato $3 – which apparently doesn’t exist here in Canada. It’s my favourite drink in Europe (pretty much the only thing I drank while traveling), but here, nobody knows what it is. However, I try to stay away from caffeine since I end up not being able to sleep till 7am in the morning (and get up shortly for work! – yup, I’m dead on those days…) Rooibos Latte $3 and special Cheesecake $7.50 Macchiato $3 The place has a nice warm cosy atmosphere with the birch coloured seatings and red walls. The cheesecake and drinks were really good and I’m eager to come back to try their food next time. I was attracted to their sustainability initiave. Their dishes feature local & organic produce, free range organic meats & Ocean Wise seafood. They are handcrafted daily in house and all of the flatbread pizzas, pastas, salads, daily soups & desserts are available gluten free for an extra fee. The service was good and looking forward to coming back!
Great place for families. We decided to try Rocky Mountain Flatbread since it was one of the few "family friendly" restaurants participating in Taste of Vancouver. The pizzas were delicious and, paired with starters which also included bread, enough for lunch the next day. The outstanding part of the meal was the starters though. I had the fig and goat cheese salad which was probably the best salad I've ever had. My husband was being adventurous and tried a turnip soup - which was surprisingly delicious. The only letdown was the kid's "monster" veggie plate. With a word like "monster" in the name we definitely expected more than a tiny bowl with 5 small veg and a smattering of olives.
Sustainable and tasty!. This chain of restaurants started in Calgary and was one of the founding members of the Oceanwise program. They strive to bring food that's sustainable, local and helps the community around them.
Their menu changes with the season, but there's always a pasta and flatbread special on the board.
They smoke their own salmon and it's delicious!
Delicious brunch. Satisfying place for brunch. Served big cup of coffee. Fig and goat cheese salad was very tasty. Flatbread brunch pizza was loaded with toppings.
Delicious. Just had a delicious flatbread special featuring organic beef brisket, roasted celeriac & carrots, red onion, mashed potato & gravy topped with horse radish & sour cream. It was in honour of the UK fireworks on Saturday and I must say they got the combo just perfect. And the extra touch Chef Russ came our & delivered my pizza personally.
I washed it all down with a Sun God Wheat Ale from R&B.
Highly recommended if you love good pizza and craft beer!
Best gluten free pizza I've had in Vancouver. Last night I had the sundried tomato and goat cheese pizza, and I was in heaven. $5 extra charge to make a pizza GF is a bit steep... but I'll pay it once in a while for a treat that tasty!!
WOW. Incredible gluten free pizza bases.....just wish they were bigger as they are sooooo delicious!!!Try the 4 cheese pizza it will change your life
Excellent. Best shrimp sandwich I've ever had. The celeriac soup was also very good.
Good, but Wow! Expensive!. Had an errand to run on Main Street and so decided to check out Rocky Mountain Flatbread. It's a nice little place, but it has the feel of like a nice cafeteria that you'd find at the top of a ski slope or something, which is fine, provided that the prices match the decor. They don't.
My boyfriend and I shared a tomato boccoccini salad which was super small and yoinks! ($9.75) which is a price that I expect to pay in a pretty fancy restaurant, particularly considering the portion size. Then we also shared one pizza (which are meant for one person) and used the gluten free option which was nice, but yeah...also expensive - extra $5 for gluten free when other places offer options for way cheaper or free.
So, all in all, I had a 5 oz. wine that was on special, my boyfriend had a caesar, we split a teeny weeny salad and a small pizza and our bill was over $50. Kind of ridiculous. When I compare our other nights out to like Twisted Fork, etc. which is a way nicer atmosphere and more interesting food for like $35, I'm left wondering if we'll go back. It's just too expensive.
Perhaps if you were to go on a night when they are offering a special, or not have a drink. Not sure, but that's ridiculous to me.
A family meal in a family friendly place.
LOUD!!!! and expensive. I'll give this outlet of Rocky Mountain Flatbread a "like," but with reservations.
The signature flatbreads -- which are not quite pizzas -- are tasty. Crispy crust, like a baked pita, and more focus on quality toppings -- healthy ones, even! -- than on glops of sauce or lashings of cheese. Rocky Mountain is "crunchy" in California terms, meaning food that's funky/chunky/hippie.
Good on 'em for supporting local food producers and community efforts -- unusual for a chain operation. I mostly avoid chain pizza joints, but this Rocky Mountain hosted a talk by a local garden expert who was doing a demo about how her book on kale. (Yeah, some people really eat that.) Photos of Vancouver food provedores like the walls. I assume Rocky Mountain buys from them, too. I hope.
But bad on 'em for giving in to the stereotypical Italian restaurant vibe of hard surfaces on the walls and ceiling. Every sound bounces and echoes. When someone across the room laughs, it's like they were guffawing right into your ear. With ventilation pipes, exhaust systems, kitchen noises, etc. the decibel level starts at about 80 dB, and any added sound just piles the white noise higher. I'm somebody who likes to go to punk rock shows at The Biltmore, but I don't go there to eat. Rocky Mountain is kid-focused -- it even has a couple of tiny wooden stoves in a play area -- and the rug rats intensify the din.
Lastly, for a kid-oriented place, Rocky Mountain Flatbreads ain't cheap. I paid more than $25 for a smaller-sized (but topping-laden) flatbread that was about 25 cm. diameter -- like a small pizza in most places -- and a point of beer. Both were good, but I could have gotten equal in some other place for $5 or $10 less.
Great, even better with the kids. Family friendly with flair. Great pizza, organic. Kids get to make their own pizzas on sunday and I think mondays so they are very excited. Great concept, room heated by the big open pizza oven. Heavenly!
Great spot - love the look and feel. Went on a Tues night for a great family pizza and pasta night out - fresh, organic food, quick service and menu to delight. Family friendly, great spot. The beef pepperoni is a must have.
I was at Rocky Mountain Flat for Sunday brunch in a group of 8 adults and 3 babies. The restaurant has been known for using local and organic ingredients in their dishes, as well as being family and kids friendly. I instantly noticed that except a couple tables on the outside patio, most of the tables inside the restaurant were with small children or babies. There was a kids corner with toys and it was quite busy. The staff were super friendly as well. If it is not obvious enough, most of the dishes feature their specialty flatbread, made with organic unbleached flour with a touch of maple syrup. There is also gluten free version as well, made with a blend of rice flour, potato flour, buckwheat flour & tapioca flour. Most of us went for their signature flatbread pizzas. The pizzas were really well baked, and the texture was just as good as the thin crust pizza at any decent Italian pizzeria in town. It was hard to believe it was just mostly flour and water. “Parma
The food was good, especially for a small cozy-style restaurant hidden on Main Street. I would come back because of the large variety of pizzas and other finds, and the neat organic twist they try to put into every dish. Some dishes are a hit and miss, but overall quality is great.
Inggy ordered the West Coast Salmon Flatbread ($10.95), made with wild smoked salmon, lemon horseradish drizzle and fresh chives. It’s brushed with roasted garlic spread, sprinkled with Quebec mozzarella cheese, shaved onions and capers – all this deliciousness on an extra thin crust.
I was invited by this restaurant to try some of their flatbreads, but more importantly, to discuss their green initiatives, their involvement with the Ocean Wise program and what they offer back to the community around them. The restaurant maintains a zero waste integrated menu. Other green initiatives include composting, using local produce, buying green electricity, and using biodegradable take home containers. But that’s not all. The restaurant also teaches life skills in local schools. They have a team of inspirational facilitators including environmentalists, nutritionists and community gardeners who lead three core school projects: Responsible Entrepreneur Project, teaching students life skills in how to build their own eco-business; Earth Bites Project, teaching students life skills of how to create delicious and nutritious snacks and how to grow their own food; Local Heroes Project, teaching students life skills in community building. and fundraising. In 2009 they raised over $
The dressing was on the sweeter side, but just slightly. The greens were all fresh and crunchy and delightful. This was big for an appetizer size.
For drink, I ordered earl grey cranberry. It was an amazing non alcoholic drink. Next, we had a lot of fun making our pizza. For dessert, the apple crumble with coconut ice cream on top, was super.
I ordered takeout from this restaurant tonight. Due to Omicron, I would rather have dinner at home with my family. I ordered:
- naturally meaty flatbread
- rocky margarita flatbread
- farmers market flatbread
- chef's feature pasta with chicken
- mushroom linguine (vegan)
- penne bolognese
- roasted cauliflower bites
- roasted bc mushroom caps with smoked salmon and cream cheese
We liked all of the food above except the roasted bc mushroom caps. why? when we opened the box, there were only 3 small mushrooms. all of us were shocked how small the mushrooms had shrunk and they cost $8.50. It cost $8.50 because it was stuffed filled with smoked salmon and cream cheese, but the size was just crazily small! Unbelievable.
We enjoyed the flatbreads as their crusts were thin and the ingredients were good. The sauces of the pastas were good, but the texture of pastas was too soft. The restaurant had overcooked them indeed.
I personally would recommend the flatbreads to others, but not the pastas (not the restaurant's specialty and which still need a lot of improvement).
The customer service was good. A server who took care of my takeout order was friendly and welcoming.
Parking. Not an issue. There is street parking (paid or free). However, of course I personally don't like to pay and park right on Main Street. I would rather park in the residential area and on a small street and walk to the restaurant. :)
Family friendly and a menu to suit every palette!
We’ve been coming here since our kids were infants, and the restaurant grows with us! Delicious fare for meat eaters and vegetarians alike, with a focus on local ingredients. The farmers market pizza is our fave (our son loves his pepperoni pizza and our daughter goes for the mac and cheese every time!). The restaurant is family-friendly with a play area for kids, too!
Highly recommend!
Not too many restaurants welcome children but Rocky Mountain is one. Kids can prepare their own pizza if they choose. Rocky Mountain offers plenty of choices, many for vegans, and the restaurant prioritizes locally grown foods. Service we've received here and at their other Vancouver location near 1st and Burrard has been consistently fine.
I was the happiest when I got to know that they serve gluten free. They have gluten free options for pretty much everything 😍😍 loved their pasta as well. And the pizzas of are great!! The day ended REALLY well!!
Never been here before until now but definitely love it and coming back. The pizza is tasty (we got the fig jam, brie and proscuitto). My partner loves pickles and they had a pickle soup feature. As odd as that sounds, it was delicious. My only critique would be that the apple crumble didn't actually have any crumble, just granola/oats. The service was so friendly and kind. Highly recommend this place.
While we were eating, we also witnessed a group workshop happening! People booked a session to make their own Flatbreads/pizzas. Great idea for a fun birthday party or teambuilding event.
