Sumptuous dishes, lovely coffees, divine dessertsššš love the exquisite tasting espresso chocolate cookie...yum to the very last bite š VERY friendly and supportive of the community
At Keefer Street, on our 13th stop in our Search for Vancouverās Best Coffee, we visit The Wilder Snail. Iām not familiar with this area. But I am fascinated byĀ this intriguing combination of organic, gluten freeĀ grocery store and neighbourhood cafĆ©.
Great coffee, and a nice community feel. They sell groceries and different things like a general store too. Comfortable, welcoming, and clearly a welcome part of the neighbourhood.
A Different Pace. From the outside it looks like your stereotypical corner store you would find in any community across Canada. But don't judge this book buy its cover, because it is part coffee house, part corner store and somewhere in the back there is a bit of a bike shop hanging out.
Maybe it was chance. Ā Maybe it was fate. Ā Itās hard to say why life takes us to certain places at certain times but I do know this ā walking into The Wilder Snail Ā is like taking a step back into time. A happier time , a time where people left their doors unlocked, children ran freely, and most importantly, a time where Jimmy Soul and Elvis ruled the airwaves.
Walking into the Wilder Snail you are greeted by a large wooden bar, some great red cupboards and large red globe lights that Erica wanted to make special mention of. The name is a humorous poke at unusual British pub names.
My friend Lorraine and I had already been to The Wilder Snail (not surprisingly, about a year ago) but for some reason I forgot to blog about it. But this time I decided not to forget, particularly because I liked this place and it's a beautiful location to have coffee, lunch or just hang out (free wifi with purchase, it's passworded). We ordered a couple of Montreal smoked-meat sandwiches, which were generous on the Montreal smoked-meat and very tasty (really, how could you screw up a MSMSā¦ but I digress). The service was cordial and friendly and lunch was inexpensive ($5.99 for each one of the sandwiches). Obviously, as anybody who reads my blog will know, I don't eat cheese so I had to remove it but otherwise, our lunch was really good. I'd definitely come back for lunch or even just for a coffee and to read a good book. The Wilder Snail is definitely a lovely neighbourhood cafe. We came across this corner store/coffee shop/cafe while walking in the Strathcona area of Vancouver Eastside, near Chinatown. I stopped in to check it out and purchased an iced herbal tea. It was very refreshing and distinctive; I really liked it! They also have grocery items, a coffee menu, wraps, baked goodsā¦ Weāll be back to check out what elseā¦very cute and definitely has neighborhood vibes.
Really cool location for a coffee shop! Reminds me of a small town coffee shop which is probably great for the community. Their outdoor seating area reminds me of how a little french cafe would be set up.
Service is friendly. Liked their bagel with cream cheese.
Their have a small section where they sell some groceries. They sell some essential and common items but very limited selection. Likely good for the local community. If you live close by it would make sense to drop by and grab something.
What a nice experience. First time in the neighborhood. A friend of mine took me there for a coffee and a snack.
One had the tuna and the other had the avacado and ham sandwich. Plus, the broccoli soup was so yummy.
I love to people watch out the big windows.
Good selection of items for the size. Perhaps a bit less variety of stock than the other local neighbourhood shops but I can usually find what I need. On the plus side this one is somewhere you can also grab a coffee and hang out. They also have some sandwiches and hot food / soups. Nice place to drop in on a rainy day. Staff is very friendly.
Love this place. Stopped by for a bite to eat on a long walk. Delicious chocolate hazlenut loaf cake. kept me going! :))

Organic soup is back and in high demand. Clean is a synonym of Wilder Snail. Mr. Park gave us today a home made hot Lemon Ginger Tea which literally tested like the best tea ever. Thank you!

Mushroom soup š² is back!!! The girl with green eyes who attends is very clean and neat preparing warm sandwiches. She cleans her hands often. The owner is kind and welcoming with his greetings and delightful accent. The price is expensive for me. The place is wheelchair accessible.
The staff were incredibly friendly and the cafe has fantastic coffee. Great prices as well!
This is a place I like to see more of. Its a neighbourhood cafe with a feeling. Not everything is perfect and standard, but it is the beauty of it. Different variety of food, various seats, located just opposite to a wonderful park etc. its also a market that you can shop from.
I spend long hours in cafes and I am really sick and tired of chain cafes with same food, same standard look and feel(and not exciting ones too). So I hope we see more neighbourhood cafes all around the city.
Great cafĆ©/store. The barista and the cashier are both very nice and friendly ^-^ I will be coming back whenever Iām in the area. It seems like a good cafĆ© to study at.
We got iced coffee and yuja tea, both were good.
Location: Right across a park
Parking: street parking
Fantastic cafe, delicious latte and gluten free option. Thank you!
Sweet staff that always seem to remember and greet you with a smile, delicious breakfast and lunch fare, wonderful coffee and fair prices.
Was looking for a place to grab a warm drink whilst watching a baseball game and this place was perfect! In such a cute location, friendly staff, and a really lovely matcha latte.
Wonderful little coffee shop tucked away in the neighborhood next to the park. Call true was delicious and they can serve drinksā for here cupsā which is very environmentally friendly. The grilled sandwiches look delicious Iāll have to come back for lunch sometime!
Such a fantastic little hidden gem in Strathcona. Not just a neighbourhood grocery, itās also got a wonderful cafe serving up all the usual coffees that you love as well as really great homely food such as soups, sandwiches, wraps and baked goods. It has really nice indoor and outdoor seating available too. Definitely worth a visit if youāre in the area
Best espresso and ice coffee in the area, and.for sure one of my top 5 in Vancouver, their service is brilliant, a must go.
Fabulous little neighbourhood coffee shop. Love it!
