Review Jasmine's Family Restaurant - Vancouver Island

Qiot Riot
Family owned for generations. Visited by many locals and tourists alike. Hostess knows almost everyone by name and their order. Very friendly staff, clean restaurant with large servings. Coming here to eat is like visiting family. They’ll spend time talking with you and getting to know you. They’ll also share their story if you’re interested. Food is good with large portions. Definitely recommend coming here versus any of the chain fast food place. Price is very reasonable, especially on the island.

I have heard lots of great things about this place and so I tried it out before it closes. It was absolutely terrific and I wish I tried it years ago and could have eaten lots more times then now. Had the poutine and friends had the reuben and the baron of beef. The flavours were fantastic and the gravy may have been the best thing from all the meals I will return a few more times before it closes for good

We walk in and immediately are warmly greeted by a server who asks where we are from, as she doesn't recognize us. She remembers the previous orders/likes (brings ketchup and cream to the table without being asked) of the friends we are with. Start to finish - the best service I remember encountering in years. The food was well-priced and delicious. If I lived on the Island, I would be a regular here.

Ordered Country Breakfast, Sauteed Mushroom and Carrot Cake from Skip. The portion was nice, everything was tasty, and the food was nicely packed. I love the seasoning of the mushrooms. Can’t wait to dine in their store next time!

We took 2 flounders that we caught when we went fishing. They cooked the fish well. Also their green beans, egg plant and seafood hot pot was delicious. The staff was friendly and tentative.

The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. My family and I enjoyed every moment we spent here. They are great about customizing your order to exactly how you'd like it which makes for a perfect dining experience in my honest opinion. The atmosphere is warm and cozy which made me feel like I was at home, very relaxing. I especially love that they have breakfast all day. My kids are super picky eaters but ate every little thing on their plates, as did I.

We both had fish. Fresh local frozen cod and halibut (not prepackaged) and both were very good. The chips were perfection, not greasy and piping hot. The salad was a bit minimal but fresh and crisp. And the waitress was friendly and relaxed with the prompt service. Everything was clean. The booths were comfy. And it was quiet. We'll be BACK P.S. I've been back several times since this review and the waitresses are ALWAYS SUPER

Incredibly fast service!! We had our coffee within 2 min of sitting down. Server came around couple min later took our order. Our food was on the table within 10 min. From the time we walked in the door to paying the Bill was 1/2 hour. Food was good, very reliable. Wide selection on the menu. My husband and I both had breakfast at noon. I had the French mix, he had the corn beef hash. You can tell the staff like working there. Great family restaurant.

Service is indeed amazing. The owners do recognize us when we return and as pointed out by others, even going as far as recognizing that some with us were first timers. Breakfasts are great. I've tried a few and the skillets and bennies are excellent. A couple lunch options were just alright but I wouldn't expect everything to be the best considering how many things you can order any time of day. The chicken bacon club is a winner!

It was fantastic, good meal HOT. It doesn't take long to get your meal after order and they top up coffee often so I never had a cold cup. Reasonable prices. %100 going back Sad news they are closing soon end of March. I am sad to see them go.

Usually good food but recent visit left me upset. A waitress (not my waitress) was removing my plate and spilt my glass of water all over my lap leaving me very wet. She apologized.. Upon leaving nothing was said until I said something whereupon she said she'd take $2 off my bill (plus the tip which belonged to my waitress) I felt that it should have been at least 50%. I would have felt better and wouldn't have written this review. Goodwill goes a long way.

The food was pretty good, but the service was amazing. The owners are so friendly and very present. At least I assume they are the owners, they have pictures of themselves on the walls. It's a neat little spot. I got the eggs Benny. The hollandaise was not quite right, but it was still edible (too much butter, not enough lemon, no chili powder). The eggs were good, but not pretty. The back bacon was delicious! And the potatoes were perfect. My daughter got a mixed plate. They were so willing to accommodate our allergies! They subbed our her eggs without so much as a sigh or eye roll, and verified no soy was in any products, plus they used a new pan for everything. I was blown away by their dedication and willingness to go above and beyond. I also loved the coffee and the mix and match coffee cups! Very eclectic.

I've been dining here for well over 20 years. Never disappointed. Always good portions, always friendly staff, fair pricing and as a regular, you're always greeted like family.

The service here is fantastic - so warm & welcoming!!! This was the perfect place to go to for my friend & me for an early morning breakfast (delicious veggie pan breakfast) and for when we needed a quiet and relaxed place to talk away from Victoria General Hospital. Highly recommended! Thank you Jasmine Family Restaurant!!!!!

If your hung over and want the kind of breakfast you can make at home. Then this would be a good choice. I prefer the fresh locally sourced breakfast spots.

good place, worth a visit, but from i see there are lots of cheap customers that go here don't tip, very rude considering service, comon people! if you cant tip don't go out to eat especially this place they deserve better!

Stopped in here on a whim and SO glad we did!! Best hidden jem in the Victoria Greater area! It doesn't look like much on the outside but trust me, this old style diner has incredible charm, amazing food with very good sized portions with low prices, and amazing service. The manager stopped by a few times helping out the busy server. Might be worth a mention we slid in just before close on a holiday Monday. Our server was Cory and she was absolutely fantastic!! She was friendly, knowledgable and made extra special effort with my food restrictions (jaw surgery and allergies) I cannot say enough good things about this place other than you HAVE to try it out for yourself. It's worth the stop on the way in or out of town. Ask about the pie and cheesecake selection. There was 6 different pies to choose from tonight and 3 cheesecakes plus a very large dessert menu. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available all day. We will absolutely be back the next time we are in town!! This is my new home away from home!!

P.S. The strawberry champagne cheesecake and the key lime pie were absolutely out of this world!!

Im always impressed with the great service at Jasmine's it is a nice change to see an Owner employ lots of staff so EVERYONE enjoys great service.

You are seated right when you walk in the door. If its busy they will find somewhere to seat you. You get your drink order quickly and once you read the menu are greeted with someone to take your order. I have been here 5 times now and always great.

When you look up as you're eating there is very little standing around, staff are floating through the restaurant like busy bees. They asked to refill coffee and anything else you might need.

The only thing Im not a fan of is my bill given to me and told take your time. Ill ask for bill when ready and finished.

I'm a huge breakfast fan and this is my go to place. Owner is hands on and very friendly greeting everyone. Makes a big difference in this industry.

Many thanks

Very fast efficient service with a good menu and consistent quality. Can't beat it for breakfast or lunch. Staff and owners work hard to keep customers happy.

Below average and over priced food.
My table had a vegan and they brought out the wrong order. We asked them to return the order and the service went downhill.
The work very hard to keep there regulars " hugs fake smile " but new people not so much.
I would not recomend the restaurant.
The food isnt good and the waiters are Awful.
Sharkbite
Really good family restaurant. Everything available all day long. Quick delivery and excellent quality. Owner chef shows lots of pride in product. Chatty staff part of ambiance. This place does not pretend to be a Michelin operation. Just laid back enjoyable place. Back tomorrow if we can get in!
Renee
The "hash browns" were like boiled and chopped potato. Portion sizes weren't great and the prices seemed high.
Blaine
Very good experience, great service and food. Will be back.

Frozen+overpriced garbage food. I went here for dinner lastnight because reviews said it was good.

The beef patties they use are those horrible greasy mechanically separated cheap frozen pucks, the gravy comes straight out of a sysco packet, and the coffee was well below par for a gas station, nevermind a restaurant.
Servers were good, but that cant make up for overpriced low quality products and an upset stomach. I will never return. If i wanted frozen burger patties, cheap frozen fries and gas station coffee, id go eat at mcdonalds and get better quality there, because at least they will serve fresh coffee.

25 bux for this junk meal is robbery, they should be ashamed.

Gluten Free Friendly**. Jasmine Restaurant has been in the same location in Colwood for many years, but I have not been there for years, so it was a delightful surprise when a friend from out of town suggested we try it for lunch. I am Celiac, and often feel cheated, deprived, and overcharged in restaurants that claim gluten free menus, or promise to ‘adjust’ their dishes to suit gluten free, only to get a half meal (charged full price), or pay a heavy extra charge for gluten free products.
Jasmine cheerfully advised me my Reuben sandwich could be served gluten free – which it was, beautifully, with NO extra charge for the GF bread - which was a pleasant surprise since GF anything usually has at least a $5 extra charge.
I will certainly return, and bring my family and friends, who will willingly accompany me to a place where I don’t feel cheated.

Downhill restaurant. The food used to be awesome here, but now it is definitely something to be desired. I had an Eggs Benny, which is a pretty common thing for a restaurant that serves breakfast to make, but the Hollandaise was old and separated. The eggs were horribly overcooked and the hashbrowns were terrible, couldn't finish my meal. Not to mention it was a bit overpriced.

Sweet service though, and they're really fast, but the food was unpleasant.

Don't bother. Went there for lunch on Saturday. While they were fast in providing us with seating, coffee and menus - the lunch service was horrendous. After sitting there for sometime and while others around us got their orders taken, I had to flag down the waitress and specifically ask if someone could take our order. She couldn't do it because we weren't in her section, so she sent over the lady owner who took our order of chicken strips and an order of eggs benedict. Ten minutes later, a waitress brought us someone else's order of eggs and ham. Finally, the chicken strips arrived but this time is was again with someone else's order of a cheese omelet. Again that was taken away and this time lady owner kept says sorry, sorry and that my order would be up in a few minutes. Fifteen minutes later, I finally got my eggs benedict which while it was cooked, it certainly wasn't hot. After finally clearing the table we were never asked if we wanted anything else or even more coffee. We never did get our bill and ended up walking up to the front till to pay as did several other patrons. What I don't understand is how they stay open with such horrible service. No matter when I go in, it now almost always seems to be a hit or miss service when you go in. Would I go back, definitely not.

Average Breakfast. I used to always go here for a Sunday breakfast and the restaurant was always busy. The service is usually friendly, how ever the past couple times my food has come out cold.

Nice small family place. It has lots of items in the menu and they seem to deliver anytime. Service is very friendly and the best part is that they are really fast!

To Dine Or Not To Dine
Good Family Restaurant. We have been going to Jasmine's for years and really enjoy the casual feel and family-style menu. Prices and the food quality in general are good, and you can take the family here without breaking the bank. The only cons to this place are the dated no frills décor and the simple food presentation.

I recently ate at Jasmine's and had the popcorn shrimp appy, along with a bowl of beef-veggie soup. The soup was okay, but nothing special. The popcorn shrimp were quite small, although a good overall portion. The shrimp were served on a larger plate with no garnish. This is a primary opportunity for the owners to dress up simple dishes like this by using a smaller plate, and some simple lemon wedges to dress it up and portray better value.

Overall, I like this restaurant and will continue to bring our family here.

Serious?????. 4:30pm Weekday. Service was slow. Coffee refill not offered. Had to ask for one, and even then, i think they had to go out and buy the beans. Food was bland. Pancakes overcooked and dry. Eggs Scrambled undercooked. Expensive for what you got.
Will never go back

Eating In Vancouver
Jasmine Restaurant is a family run establishment that we’ve been going to for years — not only because we know the gracious and friendly owners, but because the home cooked food is consistently delicious. Also, Jasmine is a comfortable restaurant with a spacious dinning room with plenty of cozy booth seating to relax with friends and family over coffee and great meals. Since they offer all-day breakfast, we always order the French Mix: Two eggs any style, two strips of crispy bacon, two sausages, home-style hashbrowns, and two pieces of French toast served on the side. We order our French toast with strawberry sauce, freshly sliced strawberries and whipped cream because it’s just so darn good! Jasmine Restaurant is the place to eat on southern Vancouver Island for consistently satisfying meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between. *Special thanks to Judy W
