Review Hcafe - Unionville

The go to place for Japanese style cheesecakes, located in beautiful scenic Unionville Main Street, the cake is light and fluffy with robust cheesy flavours. But the menu of this cake shop is very limited.

Got a Sakura Mochi and Yuzu nonbake cheesecake. They tasted pretty good, but the service here was terrible. The person taking our order was rude and obviously did not want to be there.

My wife and I made lunch plans with our dear friends who we have not seen since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. We had lunch at IL Postino and then we grabbed some coffee at POD coffee. I had forgotten my phone in my car when I went for lunch. But luckily, when it was time for dessert; we chose Hcafe which was close to where I parked my car. I agree with my fellow reviewers, the ice cream and waffle tasted great. But for the Love of GOD, please offer long neck spoons !!! The chinese egg waffle and ice cream with toppings are served in a elongated sundae cup...BUT...you only get these tiny plastic spoons. They are exactly like the small spoons that you are given when you are asking to sample say some gelato or ice cream before deciding on which flavour you like. It really was annoying because you could not scoop your ice cream at the bottom of the sundae cup. The service was friendly and efficient. There was a magician who showed up and showed his magic tricks for the kids and family. It was a nice touch.

Went for a walk down Main St Unionville and decided to treat myself to a light dessert that is not over killed by the sugar. This time, I ordered the chocolate swirl. It was light and perfect touch of sweetness to the taste buds. However, the price was a bit higher than anticipated 😔. $12 for a small 7” cake.

OVER PRICED ITEMS. Ordered a Sakura no-baked cheese cake and Sakura mochi. The taste was just average. The red bean stuffing inside the mochi was too sweet. The cheese cake has a mousse like texture. What really surprised me was the size. NOT even a normal size cake, more like a mini cupcake size. Will never buy it again. NOT recommended.

Very nice selection of teas, ice cream, sweets, Japanese cheesecake in flavors such as Matcha, Original, Red bean, Taro. There two sizes for the cheese cakes. A no bake cheesecake available as well. There is a really nice patio/garden with tables and chairs. Nice to relax there with your selection of tea and sweet treat. Service was good, server friendly.

we visit here everytime at main street for cheesecake, muffins or ice cream. also like getting the cheesecakes if going to a party. it is a good gift. price is good too. I'm sure in summer time they'll be more people as they have a outside seating. also a DIY cake class or studio.

This place has a cute little outside patio in the front. I tried their Japanese muffins that just came out fresh from the oven. It was a little bit confusing because they had 2 different posters displaying the food options. One referred to this item as ‘madeleine’, the other as ‘Japanese muffins’, which is in my opinion 2 very different types of pastries. The 2 different posters also displayed different options for flavours. I was disappointed that they did not have the yuzu blueberry one that sounded delicious. The different naming seems like it also confused the person that was serving me. Maybe he was new ? I ended up getting black sesame and matcha. Both were good but I preferred the matcha one and the black sesame felt a bit too thick / heavy for me. I would still go back to try their cheesecakes.
