There's just something very special about a cupcake. I think it's because it's your very own and not meant to be shared creates the appeal to it?๐ I've always loved cupcakes and I heard many great things about Prairie girl cupcakes. So, I knew I needed to try some!๐ค
It was very difficult to choose the flavor because there was such a grand selection! There are 3 sizes offered: regular, mini and extra mini. I landed on the regular size in the chocolate -chocolate and the mini size in strawberry -chocolate. I thought the packaging was just adorable!๐
I can't say how happy I was the second I bit into the cakes! I mean they looked moist and delectable from plain view but the cake was super soft moist and full of chocolate flavor! So good! I admit it. I have a definite soft spot for chocolate cake! The frosting was creamy. I'm quite an odd cupcake eater. So, I typically take off the entire frosting and only leave small layer remaining on the cake, when I eat cupcakes. Because I generally find the frosting on cupcake way too sweet for my liking.๐ But the Prairie girl cupcake frosting toned down on the sugar. I really liked the strawberry frsoting because it reminded me of strawberry ice cream. I adored it quite possibly because it's my favourite icecream flavor๐ค!
I definitely will return back to Priarie girl for some more cupcakes. I will return in a single heartbeat! They do make a fabulous batch of cupcakes I must say!๐ฐ
Usually my sister brings them for me seeing as she works downtown I've had the Vanilla Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, and most recently today the PB & J one boy it's sweet but an innovative flavour !
Delicious cupcakes! Red velvet is a personal favourite. Don't get the mini ones even when tempted by being able to try multiple flavors because they're dry. Get the full sized cupcakes, so good!
Vegan Options...yum!.. Just realized that there are vegan options...and they were absolutely amazing. Will definitely be back for soon as they maybe the best vegan cupcake I have had to date.
Beauty Cuppies. These cupcakes really look esthetically pleasing, but lack in the taste department.
I am (not by choice) Gluten Free and am very excited that they offer a gluten free variety for those days when i need a little treat.
I just have a few cons:
- very top heave so you can't hold it in your hand and eat it...must eat with a fork
- wayyyyy too much icing, even for a sweet lover
- sometimes they run out of the gluten free by the afternoon and you have to call to "reserve" cupcakes. How do I know if I am going to feel like a treat? Not only are more and more people being diagnosed with Celiac Disease, but it is becoming a TREND, be prepared :)
On a positive note, I love their Gluten Free Red Velvet with Cream Cheese icing (just not so much icing).
