2000 items on the menu and they're NEVER out of anything! Unbelievable! Still the best chop suey joint in Toronto. Solid, reliable, delicious "Chinese Food".
Opened in 1841 I believe...still under original management. Some really phenomenal food and I love the phone in the take out pick up area covered in plastic wrap.
A Toronto institution
Best China food in the city always get it here..and it's not close to us either, but so worth the trip
Sssssooooooo yummy and extremely affordable. Their portion sizes are very generous. I've been coming here for more than 30 years and I hope they never leave!!!
I have been enjoying the take out specials from Sea-Hi since the 1980's! My boyfriend and l would share a beef fried rice at a nearby park. Five months later, that boyfriend became my husband. By the grace of God we have been married for 31 years and we still visit Sea-Hi when we're in the area!
Lasting the test of time!. I have been eating regularly at this restaurant for over 10 years now and i would have to say it is one of my favourite places. The food is always a treat, really great menu options. Always pleasant service with a smile and the wait time for meals is unmatched, generally 5- 15mins after ordering. Love the lunch combos - were perfect even when I was on a student's budget!
Good if you have the right expectations.. The food here is thoroughly mediocre... meaning it won't get you sick, and it tastes good, but there's absolutely nothing special about it.
The food served here is thoroughly Jewish/American-Chinese. The clientele is mostly white and Jewish and the restaurant serves the type of fried/sauced Americanized cuisine that caters to this demographic. If that's your thing, you'll love the food (as it's quite good, as far as this style of cuisine is concerned). If you're looking for more traditional Chinese cuisine, you're probably best served looking elsewhere.
If you go in with the right set of expectations, you should enjoy your meal.
For People Who Miss Lichee Gardens. Sea-Hi is not authentic Cantonese food, but for Canadian/Chinese food, there's none better. Most restaurants in this category load up with MSG and thick breading on anything deep fried. There is a wide variety of choices and everything I've tried (except for their hot and sour soup) is delicious. Their butterfly shrimp with bacon is marvelous.
The restaurant is clean but could use a renovation, as it's presently a throwback to the '60s.
Service is friendly with good English. Prices are very reasonable, and I look forward to my next visit.
Luv it!. Just to let people know about this place is that it's a chop suey restaurant. Meaning it's Canadianized Chinese food.
I'm chinese and really this place is great for what it is. If you are looking for sweet and sour chicken balls, spring rolls, fried rice, chow mein, spare ribs, chicken wings etc this is the place.
Another chinese person wrote a review on this stating that this place is awful cause it's not real chinese. Well don't listen to that person cause this place clearly states it's a chop suey house and in chinese that really means canadianized chinese food. The fact that this person had no idea thinking it's real chinese food is pretty stupid.
Listen I go there for the chicken sticks, it's chicken wrapped with bacon then battered and friend into sticks! try it with the plum sauce or if you are like me and like it spicy or with a kick try it with the hot mustard sauce! It's amazing!
My other favorite is the shrimp with lobster sauce! I'll tell you this I live in the mecca of chinese food area (Markham) and with all the chinese malls and food courts and restaurants around me, there is no place that can match their shrimp and lobster sauce. You put some of that on to their fried rice and you'll just luv it!
Their dry garlic spare ribs is also really good and honestly their chicken wings are great too!
Everytime I go there I sit down and eat but also order take out so I can bring it home. Actually I think I'm gonna swing by there tonight after work!
I hope this clear things up for most people!
Oh yeah this place has been in couple of movies too! lol
