This is basically a schnitzel in a huge bun with some sauce. The end result is quite yummy though I am sure with the money they charge they could have added a couple of toppings rather than keep them all as chargeable extras. Worth a try.
Love this location! I go there at least once a week after work for my chicken parm fix! The look is different from the other californias but i love it!
This was my first time at California Sandwiches after a very special someone recommended it to me. At first, I was a bit surprised at how empty the establishment was, but during the course of my meal I saw there was no shortage of business, with many customers coming and ordering their meals to-go. The restaurant was very spacious and clean, and the staff was polite and as helpful as they could be. I ordered the Veal Sandwich, which the cashier said was their most popular dish. At $8.19 it was a bit pricy, and even more so if you want toppings, which are extra (jalepeno's are free). However, it was completely worth it. This was one of the best veal sandwiches I had. The veal itself was extremely tender, unlike the veal sandwiches at other eateries I had, which were a bit tough. The bun was very fresh and soft, which, when combined with the tenderness of the veal, resulted in a very enjoyable and relatively non-messy experience. Every other component of the sandwich was fresh as well. Having ordered my sandwich as spicy and with jalepenos as well, I was surprised at how mild it was. However there was enough spice there to be noticeable and satisfy my palette. After finishing the delicious enormous sandwich, I somehow managed to make room for dessert. I ordered the Oreo cheesecake instead of the tiramisu because the cashier was uncertain as to whether it was made with mascarpone or whipped cream, and costing almost $7 (tax included) I didn't want to risk it. Both desserts are served in a jar which was a bonus for me. The multi-layered cheesecake was very rich and aesthetically pleasing, with moist chocolate cake and a tasty chocolate pudding layer. The cheesecake itself was a bit fluffy (I thought it was whipped cream before I tasted it) but tasty nonetheless. I kept the jar and left the restaurant thoroughly stuffed and satisfied. It was my first time there but the first of many.
Wow. Wow. Wow.
Eggplant sandwich, medium spicy is to die for. This is the Italian sandwich spot, if you know, or want to know a good Italian sandwich.
The place is clean, staff are friendly and the food as per my headline, is simply wow!
Not a bad wait for the food. All in all was at a table with my order of this gigantic veal sandwich within 5-10 mins. The sandwich itself was absolutely delicious! In fact this pig could easily have ordered and devoured a 2nd one (Oink oink) was told to go visit the original location at dundas and Claremont which apparently is even more delicious. Will definitely follow up on that!
These sandwiches are so filling and so good!! I highly recommend getting the sweet veal with sautéed onions and mushrooms! I ate half and could hardly finish it! The sandwiches are massive. It is definitely messy but trust me it is tasty. Good quality meat too! Bring an appetite and you will not be disappointed.
Great tasting veal and eggplant sandwiches, that are sure to fill you up if you're feeling particularly hungry. The sandwiches are truly massive, but make good munchies, or a quick lunch alternative. The sandwiches are also fairly cheap, giving you good value for money.
