Great spot by finch station. Their Matcha lates are amazing and the serving staff are very polite :)
I've passed by Soban a number of times before when finding my way to CoCo's, but it wasn't until a thorough Instagram search on the bingsoo hashtag was conducted that I discovered the small Korean cafe.
The cafe was located on the second floor of the building; it had a rather clean design, with several large windows to let in natural light. The sofas, stained in excess by past customers, were comfortable despite their unclean state. With free Wi-Fi access, the premises was ideal for post-school/-work lounging and socializing among young adults. The only downside was that there was an awkward distance between the sofa and the table, which could probably be mediated by making minor adjustments to the seating arrangement.
A clear view of the bus terminal and busy intersection below could be easily also seen from the tables.
The makeshift menu, comprised of a few laminated sheets bounded hole-punched and bounded together, was simple in form but effective in outlining the selection of food items available. There was one strange point though: I had originally wanted to order a limited time flavour of bingsoo by the name of Red Bean Korean Rice Cake, but was informed by the waitress that it wasn't available yet, in contempt of the fact that it was already May.
A Fruits Bingsoo was ordered instead.
To our relief, this one was much much better than our previous experience at cafe bene. There were two sizes (large and small); we ordered the smaller size to be safe and it turned out to be the perfect amount for sharing as a pre-dinner sweet snack.

It was basically a Korean sandwich made with toast that had powdered sugar on top. It sounded like an odd combination at first because the sandwich contained salty elements like special sauce egg, ham, cheese, cabbage (such a Korean ingredient to stick in there), and pickle.
Love their very modern and beautifully decorated interior and the great service - and of course, many deliciousness to drool over!below is the list of items I had:
Japanese style pan-fried Salmon with rice - definitely, the highlight of the meal as the portion of the salmon is very generous and with the skin seared and on a hot plate - it becomes crispy and flavourful. The sauce goes really well with the rice and is highly recommended!
Japanese style pan-fried beef with rice - please swipe for the pink center and I think it speaks for itself!
Drinks: Pink berry and Blue Coast are definitely a great way to set the mood because they are so pretty! Blue coast, in particular, are one of my favourites with a luscious blue hue and towards the sweeter side of drinks which I love
Dessert: their Korean-style macarons are super delicious layered with smooth cream, the plating is super cute and this will become a sweet ending to any meal!
Appetizer: Unique selection indeed! in particular, their spicy whelk salad (辣螺肉)is one of the more rare finds, and some pieces are just huge! chewy and delicious. Smoked salmon is also a great healthy choice that comes on top of a bed of baby spinach.
If you're looking for creative Japanese fusion dish, this is the spot to try! Located in Yonge & Finch, a newly renovated Soban Eatery & Bar, offers extensive menu from small bites to mains, and even desserts.
Appetizer:
Takoyaki - our favourite who doesn't love takoyaki?!
Fruit Salad - comes with avocado, strawberry, honeydew, and lettuce. It's light yet full of flavour
Chicken Skewers
Shrimp skewers
Mains:
* Beef Teppan Pasta - served on a sizzling hot plate. I love the creamy pasta, a great addition to the medium rare steak. And the sauce has all the complex, sweet & savoury flavours that go so well with everything.
* Japanese Style Pan Fried Beef with Rice
Mocktails:
* Pink Berry - this drink is so pretty and refreshing! Absolutely a must order
* Blue Coast
Overall, we really love the meals, ambiance, the modern-minimalist interior, and the amazing hospitality. This place is great for hanging out with friends, date night or even late night snacks
This is not the same Soban as before as they have reopened with a brand new restaurant concept serving French & Japanese fusion cuisine. There is an extensive selection of appetizers, mains 🥘 , desserts 🍰 and drinks 🍹 to choose from on their menu.
I love their newly renovated contemporary design, as well as the aesthetics inside! I would say this is a great spot for hangouts, dates and night outs! The views are also satisfying as Soban is located on the second floor of a building, which oversees the intersection of Yonge & Finch.
I was very impressed with the presentation of the dishes, as well as the taste and the time the dishes to came out after ordering. Everything was fantastic, but the Japanese Style Beef Omelet definitely stood out to me. I would recommend trying this dish and pairing it with the Peach Peach cocktail.

Amazing food. Wow! Recommend to anyone interested in Asian fusion.
You didn't give me the charger cord
Please check and contact us. they don't answer the phone But the food there is very tasty and friendly so 5 stars. The name changes often haha.
New reopening! So happy to be here and it's gorgeous inside!
Such a cute little cafe on the second floor. The atmosphere, lighting and decor is modern and welcoming. Their rose tea comes in a cute tea pot with mini cups which seems to be popular there. Also I would totally recommend the Matcha Crepe Cake, especially for those who do not enjoy overly sweet things. It had the perfect amount of sweetness and the matcha flavour is not overpowering either. The cream in between each thin layer of crepe reminded me of ice cream. It was perfect! Their spicy rice cake wasn't the best though. However, the service was good. It is a great place for friends to talk and catch up.
Very first impression was that they had a nice decoration. We were seated by the window where we had a pretty nice view to yonge street. Service was okay but the food came really slow. Their macaroon is really sweet as well as the cheese corn. Everything else was great so we still had a good time.
Very nice staff here, last time there was a very cute Chinese girl and this time is a handsome and tall Korean boy. They were all very nice> < I have tried to order the matcha snowflake and matcha crushed ice tonight but they were all sold out. So I just ordered for a mixed fruit crushed ice. However, the cute staff asked the bartender to offer me a scoop of matcha ice cream on top instead of the original one. Really satisfied with the service. Thumbs up!
Super cute atmosphere inside. Clean and sleek with cool light fixtures, and a nice view of busy Yonge Street. The lady that served us was lovely. We tried the lava cake, vanilla crepe cake and Japanese style vanilla double formage cheese cake. Out of those, the vanilla crepe cake was delightful. The lava cake came nice and warm and was rich, and was plated nicely. The vanilla cheese cake was nice, less sweet than the others however it was very obvious that it was frozen cheesecake. Otherwise it was nice!
If you intend to go here you better be prepared to order 1 item each. For every 2 hours you stay each person has to order 1 item. I've never had an issue with that as I love most desserts and drinks there. The crepe cakes are absolutely delicious as well as the frappes, smoothies, berry tea, Italian soda and their Japanese style fries. The service has been efficient and quick every time i've gone as well. Would rate this 5 stars but I'm not a huge fan of the ramen there as well as the spicy rice cakes. Personally I don't go here to eat a full meal but rather for drinks or desserts.
I've been to this place quite a lot now as it's close to home and in a very attractive location. I LOVE the seats overlooking the intersection, I do wish they had more seating options in general but especially for small parties of one or two. The price is perfectly reasonable, you get a huge mug with coffee or a pot of tea for around $5 and lovely filling desserts for $8 to $13. I can't recommend the 'Coup(l)e Love Cup" enough, it's ice cream topped with a whole lava cake and a chocolate macaroon. The fruit tea is amazing and the White Chocolate Moccha has quickly become my new favourite. I like the popcorn chicken though I'm not someone who can handle any spice. I had the beef omelet as well but was overwhelmed with the amount of rice, as with almost any Asian place. The staff is lovely and attentive, and very friendly. At nights (between 6 & 9pm), it can be difficult to get a table but they are open until 12am so you have a wide window. I find the best time to go is around 2pm. I'm in love with the atmosphere there, it's a nice space to read or study. Worth a visit.
We had a drink which was bubble tea with melted raw sugar. Quiet interesting concept and delicious too. Their vanilla latte was also really good. It’s an amazing place to spend some time for studying or doing your own work. Nice ambiance and staff too.
