Amazing empanadas, especially the Buffalo wing one is to die for! Great for a cheap quick meal!! Small space to eat but great for take out!!
Wow. The lobster empanada is one of the most delicious things I have put in my mouth in a long time.
An fun alternative to pizza for b-day parties! A dozen mini empanadas was a great trial for flavour. The multicultural empanadas are amazing! ...don't forget to order the fried avacado as well
Avocado Fries- DELISH!!!. I'm addicted to the avocado fries!
You gotta try them...
Fresh, but could use a lil' more salt.. Albeit it standing room only, with a bar with a few stools to eat at, this joint is busy with a constant flow of patrons - primarily doing take-out. The guy behind the ordering counter was very friendly, explaining the specials/options, offered a sample of their avocado fries, and even discreetly 'up-selling'. He was definitely doing his job!
Empanadas can be baked (traditional) or fried. And I love the option of the "combos" that come with 2+ empanadas and either a dip OR a drink. If you're just stopping by for a snack, this can definitely be shared with a friend! Empanadas themselves are a fair size, about that of a beef patty.
We didn't hafta wait that long for our food. And when it arrived, it came in authentic lookin' earthenware which was a nice touch.
I loved the batter that the avocado fries came in! It had a bit of a chipotle or other 'kick' to it which helped 'cause aside from the texture, avocado can be bland on its own. Serving size of the fries were generous for 2+ people. On your own, it can be a bit much to handle unless you're used to fried foods.
I couldn't quite put my finger on it 'til it was finished, but there was something missing from my Beef Empanada. Everything tasted fresh, but I wouldn't say that it was DELICIOUS, addictive, or anything. I think that the filling and even the dough itself lacked flavour in the way of salt/spices.
I ordered mine baked, but after the first bite, I wished that I had ordered it FRIED 'cause that would've 'added' that extra something. I decided to try the fresh salsa to accompany the empanada and all I tasted was olive oil + cilantro.
Although I loved the experience and would definitely go back - just not make a special trip or anything, I just wished that they would turn it up in the heat/flavour dept.!!!
Vegetarian Heaven!!. Finally somewhere i can enjoy a great veggie meal!!! I got a flyer from the organic coffee shop on fortieth st. and lakeshore, and decided to check the place out. I order grilled vegtable and Goat Cheese Empanada on 12 grain dough with the Chimichurri sauce as well as a Queso Fresco Tamale(veggie and glutten-free) Awesome !!! Where have u been all my life Empanada Company!!!? I'll b back tmrw :)
Lobster Empanada + Fried Avacado Bites. I found this place on Google, its a liitle hidden. When i went in they were giving people samples of some new items being added. Fried Avacodo bites in a light panko breading with new anch and chiptle dip. So good!!! I did also get to try an new lobster, cheese, corn and black bean Empanada. OFF THE HOOK!! Although the lobster empanada is more expensive deffinetely worth it.!!! Check this joint out!
Mediocre at best. I found the empanadas to be very dry and the cheese tasted off. Not terrible, but I wouldn't rush back.
Very Good Empanadas. If you live in south west Etobicoke (Long Branch) and have a craving for empanadas,, there is hope! The Empanada Company sells delicious empanadas mostly for takeout (as seating is very limited although there is a patio in the summer.)
There do not have the variety or seating of Mama Mia Empanadas although they are much closer to my home. However, theri empanadas are excellent. My favourite is the nontraditional, premium leek & proscuitto. They are very reasonable and come in your choice of baked (traditional) or fried. Recommended.
Bundles of joy. Imagine piping hot fresh from the oven pastry puffs stuffed with a braised Chilean beef filling and a tasty chimichuri--parsley and garlic type salsa--sauce to smother it with.
Looking forward to trying out the other fillings and fish and chips.
I was delighted to discover this sweet spot in the westend by the beach. It's the perfect treat to take away for a bite on the beach. It's cozy inside with a few seats by the window, but it's hot with the oven on. I think it's good when it's hot inside cuz it means that the wait is less than a minute to get a freshly baked one. Looks like over the winter some serious renos have been happening and a patio might be popping up just in time for the summer.
If you like empanadas, you'll love this place. Make sure to drop in if you're planning to hit the lake or bike trails nearby.
Looking forward to my next visit.
