Great food here...I love this place but some of the worst service ever. Nothing like having the server throw the menus on your table and walk away. Than she came back to give us a pen to write down our order and again she literally threw the pen at barely staying on the table. Wouldn't even talk to us. Apparently we were bothering her by wanting to eat at their restaurant. We walked out without ordering and haven't been back since. Food is great but bad service will trump.
Good bang for ur buck! Nothing fancy but a nice family restaurant. Great Pho and pad Thai! Service is not congenial but one doesn't expect much in this place
There were 6 of us at Pho Huong for lunch on Valentine's Day. We had a reservation, so getting seated wasn't a problem, but the restaurant did fill up quickly shortly after we arrived.
Service starts with customers filling out their own menu selections on a little form. Therefore the servers don't have to engage the customers in too many conversations. I understand the efficiency in this, but it is a bit impersonal. There was one service error, when they brought out 5 of our 6 main dishes, but seemed to forget the 6th until we told one of the servers.
We started out with Spring Rolls, which were a little bit different that the usual. These had some kind of tempura batter on top of the wrapper, which gave the roll an added little crunch. SWMBO chose Beef Pad Thai, which was pleasant, but nothing special. I had the Grilled Jumbo Shrimp and Vermicelli. Again nice, but nothing special. The shrimp had a bit of seasoning, but the vermicelli had nothing. Yes, you could pour on some fish sauce to add some flavour, but I guess my expectations were a bit different.
Great healthy options. Quick service excellent food. Spring Rolls (A01) a must have
Most I've ever waited. Before coming to Pho Huong yesterday I read the reviews and I saw that everyone loved how inexpensive the food is and also how the service is very slow. I decided to give it a try not caring about the slow service. Inside is a nice good atmosphere and very casual dress ware. I got a bubble tea and spring rolls. I thought and assumed it's not hard to prepare expecially the bubble tea. Turns out I waited about 30-40 minutes just to get my bubble tea. It's ridiculous. Yes the menu is very inexpensive but if you are in a hurry to do something after stopping by to eat I do not recommend this restaurant due to lousy service. We gave a $2 tip but they didn't deserve that one bit. I also noticed on the bottom of the menu they said all items include MSG, i don't know if all restaurant dishes include MSG in it but just saying this was a big shock to me.
Nice clean ambience for a pho place, fairly new decor. Started with spring rolls, which were pretty good but not piping hot all the way through. I'm guessing previously cooked and then fried to reheat/crisp up for service. Tasty though. Then we had the pho, which was kind of heavy on the anise, which overpowered any subtleties in the broth. Not as much depth of flavor as I'd like. when I asked for extra cilantro (there was little to none in the soup) I was told they don't have any? Maybe she didn't understand. Anyway, all in all, pretty good pho but ive had better. Standard price for pho. I'd come back but I will also be on the lookout for new pho places.
The best Pho.... The vermicelli bowls and rare beef pho are AMAZING. the service is great, and so is everything else about this restaurant. Although it is unfair that they make the No Frills parking lot next door smell so good... hard to resist a visit when I'm in the area! if you're a picky TO dining snob, you might get turned off by pho houng... all the better... stay home and leave more room for me.
A1 EXPERIENCE. The food is great, the service is great, it's clean and reasonably priced. everything you could ask for. i love this place
Good food, terrible service. Both times I have eaten at Pho Huong, the service has been pretty bad, but the prices are cheap and the food is good. The spring rolls are amazing; I go there specifically for them! As long as you don't expect attentive or pleasant service, this place is worth it for the food.
You cant get any more authentic tasting or cleaner than this place. HANDS DOWN the best vietnamese food you will get anywhere, in these types of resturants you are not paying for the service you are paying for the food. The service isnt going to be like a class a resturants but you get what you pay for. The food is always great, served with fresh sides like beansprouts. The hoisin sauce is not watered down like most places. This is the only pho i will eat anywhere!!
Good place - low price - great value. This place is good. It used to be just OK but there was a change of ownership and a renovation and a distinct uptick in professionalism. Now, the business is improving and with the increased patronage the overall ambiance is enhanced.
There is nothing fancy - the usual tattered printed menu of a low price Pho restaurant and the wrtite your own order sensibility. You can expect zero assistance from the servers with respect to food recommendations and preference - but the prices are so low you can order one or two untried dishes with no real risk to appetite or wallet.
If you come at an odd hour - like say 2:30 in the afternoon - the professionalism may be in the waning state but other than that - this place is a very good neighbourhood staple.
I recommend it.
Wonderful and inexpensive Vietnamese cuisine; usually attentive but taciturn staff. Decor is nothing special, but the food is the main draw.
Good food for a good price. First time I ate here I was amazed at the prices. Their Pho is competitively priced but everything else on the menu is extremely cheap. It's not the best Vietnamese food you can get still very good. If you're on a budget , definitely a good place to go. There's always people in the restaurant and for good measure. They revamped the decor in this place not too long ago and I'm really glad they did.
