Good beer selections. Friendly staff. Good food.
Always a fun place to hang out.
This has become our regular fare whenever we feel like just chilling with nice beer and comfort pub-food. They have limited menu, but mostly the stuff that we order, gives the promised bang for the buck. Almost every entree / sandwich comes with a truck-load of fries, and a tiny salad or veggies.
They had a change of management recently, which mainly changed their primary brewer supplier- hopefully it does not change anything else.
Very welcoming atmosphere. The customer service was great and the food was even better! It's also easy to access off of the subway station!!
Great drinks, great food with an amazing atmosphere and a welcoming staff.
A real nice local neighbourhood pub to just sit back and catch up with a good friend over a chilled beer. Will definitely be returning to this spot.
The food was great and I was tgere wgen there was an open mic. The restaurant had areally great atmosphere. It made you feel very welcome to be there.
Come-by-chance!. MacKenzies in the Annex has a pubby atmosphere with daily specials. There service is great; however, there are a few exceptions. Enjoy a pint or two and "come-by-chance."
Can't beat the brunch special - $3.99 for two eggs, bacon or sausage (x2), home fries (usually potato hash), toast and coffee or tea!!!
Food is mediocre, but staff and atmosphere are great. Good game day specials to boot.
They hired a new chef in summer '11, and I immediately noticed a difference. Most notably the (usually) unique daily specials. Was so tired of the special being a standard-item off the menu. Great things heading!
Good food, great staff and a fun atmosphere. Simply Fantastic!
Fantastic pub. The food is always fantastic - and the servers are so laid back and relaxed that it creates a graet environment. Live music and poker tourny's and NTN on the scren - every big game is on too. Even though it's a pub and known for deep fried and sandwhiches they are open to substitutions (I'm lactose intolerant) and that comes in handy when I want nachos (hold the cheese please!)
After Gord and I walked around High Park for a couple hours, we were hot and sweaty ... and in need of something cold to drink (we'd forgotten to bring water ... duh!). Mackenzies is right across the street from the park so we popped in for a beer. We got comfy and ended up staying for supper and watched the game. There were a few people with the same idea. Looking towards the entrance I started with garlic bread with mozzarella cheese (which I shared with Gord) and it was good. Gord started with crab cakes and he said they were delicious. I also ordered butter chicken. It was just okay. The rice was kind of mushy and the butter chicken sauce could have had more kick. The naan was good but I left a lot of it as I was full. Gord ordered cajun wings and said he'd get them again. The wings were big!
