It was my first time being at La Bamboche. I like the place because it's a small cafe like restaurant. The service is quite friendly and when I went, they helped me a lot. The only thing I purchased was the macarons. I have to say that they are really good. Well balance of crunchiness and creamy filling.

What I didn't really like was that when I came here, there was not much variety. There were maybe 3 or 4 pastries for each type and there were barely any macaron flavours, maybe about 6 or 7. If there were more variety, I would come here often. Overall, I liked it.

Not like how it used to be. New location is more spacious with less delicacies, more like a local breakfast joint!

Great service and great food. We went during off-peak hours so the selection wasn't the greatest but if you were willing to try what was available it was worth every penny!

I finally made my way to the famous La Bambouche! I got three macarons: blood orange, pistachio and strawberry champagne. La Bamboche serves up one of the best macarons I've ever had and my favourite was the pistachio one, it was packed full up pistachio flavour and it even had some pistachio paste in the filling. The strawberry champagne was light in flavour but still absolutely delicious. The macarons are well priced at $2.35 each.  As for the cakes I got something with green tea mousse, a chocolate raspberry mousse dome, and their mont blanc.

With two bottles of Prosecco on-hand, a work agenda and a dozen macarons from each Macaron shop, we began a blind tasting between a panel of eight food savvy women...

Unfortunately, my taste buds failed me and I still don't know what the mystery flavor was. All I know was that there was some sort of alcohol in it.

La Bamboche is a small French bakery that has taken on a Japanese inspiration in terms of the different flavours they experiment with in terms of their cakes and macarons. Their selection of macarons are distinctly different compared to Butter Avenue, with a clear influence of Japanese cuisine in their flavour profiles.

Their free sample was a seaweed, wasabi and white chocolate macaron. I’ll give them points on creativity. The macaron had a very strong sea brine flavour coming from the seaweed in the shell. The wasabi flavour soon kicks in from the butter cream, yet the sugar cuts the wasabi from the point of actually being spicy. Eating this macaron reminded me of eating sushi but with quite a bit of sugar. Can’t say this was my favourite or something I would try again, however it wasn’t too bad.

I decided to buy some of the macarons there since they had such interesting flavour combinations. So here’s a quick summary of the different flavours I have tried.

Yuzu Sake- Very interesting and refreshing flavour combination. Yuzu is a citrus fruit and it definitely perked up this macaron along with the sake flavour in a very delightful way. Thumbs up!

Lavender- Too much lavender flavour and they put a chocolate filling inside. FYI, lavender and chocolate aren’t the best flavour combinations out there. Sadly, I won’t be recommending this one to anybody.

Espresso- This one was the best one out the bunch. Strong espresso flavour and the right amount of sweetness to counterbalance the natural bitterness from the espresso.

Rose Strawberry- They used some sort of rosewater to get this flavour combination and to be honest, wasn’t really the best use of flavours. The name itself sounds very nice though, very Shakespearean.

Overall, La Bamboche doesn’t have the best macarons that I’ve tried in Toronto.

croissants 10/10!! crispy, flaky and crunchy crust, with a soft, tender and buttery interior, that shatters when you bite into it!

So, I've been dining at this cafe several times now. Such a cozy place, and the staff are very polite and friendly. The baked goods are fresh and baked on site. Don't wait too long to stop by, as the yummy baked items sell out quickly. Today I had a fresh baked croissants turkey sandwich. If you're in the Avenue Rd area, I highly recommend you stop by.

Except for the bread, they offer wonderful high tea as well. Make appointment 2 days in advance and enjoy a wonderful afternoon with friends or family. The staffs are so kind, gentle and friendly. Highly recommend the Champagne macaron, scone and Sandwich.

Great pastries! Especially the gluten-free cookies which are my favourite!!! Except for weekends it’s not too busy there so you can get a table easily, which I will do when I have more time! Super nice staff too. The baker even came out to tell me the ingredients in the vegan gluten-free cookies since I have allergies. I go there a couple times a week just to take out their cookies which I’m addicted to!!

The staff are fantastic, kind and friendly! The coffee is delicious, strong and wayyyyyy better than the over-priced black water from starbucks down the street. Every single pastry I've tried here (including but not limited to croissants, cinnamon knot, vegan GF cookie, cupcakes, macarons, tiramisu, cake...) has exceeded expectations and left me coming back for more. Fresh and full of flavour. Prices are on point for the times we live in (hello, baristas deserve a fair living wage just as much as anyone). Highly recommended. Skip the starbucks, support local businesses like La Bamboche !

Very friendly staff and awesome croissants. They were very accommodating as I had my little girl with me, and brought our order out so we could wait outside. Will definitely come back again.

Cute little place. I picked up a bag from TGTG that focuses on preventing food waste. The pastries were extremely delicious. I also got some other items while I was there, very yummy. My daughter loved her cake pop.

The fresh-baked cinnamon knots are faaaaaabulous, and their flaky, fresh Danish are marvelous; not overly sweet so they remind me of Copenhagen's best! I love them. Great oatmeal cookies, wow.

Delicious espresso. Tasty baked goods (I've tried their muffins, cinnamon buns, cinnamon twist) and yummy tuna sandwich! I also bought their cheddar and potato pierogies to cook at home and they were really good. The staff are friendly, asking my name after my first few visits which is really nice- it makes you feel good.

I love this place for French pastries and macarons. They have fresh bread too. But go early in the morning before they sell out! This is my favourite place for macarons.

Very authentic french bakery in a cute and elegant space. Some of the best macarons I’ve had in Toronto. If you get a dozen of the pastries/cakes/croissants, it becomes a very good per item deal, best to call ahead if buying in larger quantities. Also try the opera cake, it’s super luxurious.
