I really enjoyed the mushroom and tofu congee, the multi-grain congee with mushroom, and the satay pad thai noodles (vegan). I am grateful that Congee Queen makes vegan dishes. One of my concerns was the mushroom and tofu congee had tiny bits of scallop, which is not vegan.I mentioned to the wait staff taking our order that I am vegan. Maybe some people think vegan and vegetarian is interchangeable. I only noticed it after I tried it. If I had known, I would not have ordered it. The multi-grain and mushroom congee was very tasty. The texture in the creamy mushroom and tofu congee was so smooth it felt silky!
Thank you . I had this today and loved it .
This place is always busy. The reason being the food is quite tasty. They have a variety of dishes to choose from and found whatever I've tried to be very good.
The prices are very affordable and the serving size is huge! My family loves to eat out here occasionally. My all-time favourites are spicy fried turnips and the golden-bowl steaks! They are very delicious and I would highly recommend!
Great place for Cantonese food. Far larger and impressive than Chinatown places. Prices are mid-range but portion size is decent too. Covers all the basics as in fried rice, noodles and variety of protein options. Try the spicy fried turnip cakes...... does not sound too appetizing but be pleasantly surprised! Service is efficient but a bit spotty. They should open a branch near downtown.
I'm not huge fan of fried noodles, fried rice, stir fries nor congee. It's almost a sin because I am Chinese😯! Well Congee Queen is bearable to me once in a blue moon when I actually kind of want to indulge in Chinese comfort food!🤗
This location is a very convenient access point, which results to many visiting patrons. Some of my personal favorites at this particular Congee Queen location are the lo mein and roasted duck! The lo mein is springy and has a bite and the roasted duck is excellent here! I was amazed how crispy the skin was? It resembled peking duck to me, well almost!😄 I would recommend the duck if you happen to visit this location!👍 It's good to have Chinese comfort food every now and then I suppose! 😄🍜🍚
I'm a huge fan of the Congee Queen franchise. I've been to the Congee Queen on Steeles and Don Mills and Markville location a million times so I used those locations as comparisons.
I went at lunch on a weekday. The parking lot was really busy (likely because of the mall) but it wasn't busy inside. The space is large with 2 sides and beautifully decorated.
We ordered Singapore noodles, Cantonese chow mein, roasted pork and their signature Congee Wong super bowl, and found the food quality to be the same as other locations. The roasted pork skin was really crispy, the portions were big, and the dishes were flavourful.
I'll be back when I'm in the area. Price is reasonable for what you get.
Also this is a great location!!
Congee Queen has another location and this one is just as good as the others. This one is a bit hard to find but it is located on the South side of Centrepoint Mall by the No Frills. The place itself is rather large and can accompany any size table from just the two of you to a larger group of 10+. The service here is actually on the friendlier side and I've always thought they were nicer than most Chinese restaurants.
We had the Lobster with E-Fu Noodle, Crab and Seaweed Salad, and a Roast Duck/Roast Pork Rice Combo. The Crab and Seaweed Salad was to serve as a small appetizer, but the plate was huge! The crab and seaweed mixture was complemented with julienned cucumber as well as some crisp. The crab meat and seaweed were plentifully and I liked how it all worked together.
Lobster in E-Fu noodle is a favorite of the gf as she loves how the thick e-fu noodle soaks in all the lobster broth and flavor. The lobster meat itself is somewhat in the background, but there is a whole 1lb lobster for you to enjoy regardless. The Roast duck was good as well as the roast pork. The portion sizes are no joke so come hungry.
This new location is just like the others, so no complaints here. There actually isn't much Chinese food around the Yonge/Steeles area, so it's kind of nice having this one around. If you're looking for some good meals at good prices, this is definitely a nice spot to go.
Of special mention, I really liked the BBQ duck! It was so juicy and flavourful! I also liked the Singapore-style turnip cakes. So yummy! :)
I enjoyed my lunch at Congee Queen today.. I first met the owner of the Congee Queen chain at a party a few years ago and have seen him a few times since; however, until this restaurant had opened, I had not tried Congee Queen or its sister restaurant Congee Wong. I went to this restaurant because I am a fan of its designer, Joe Cho. As expected, the restaurant design is excellent.
The restaurant has not been open for long, but it is obviously becoming popular. The menu is extensive, so I have no idea if everything is as good as the food I tried. For lunch, I had a combination of BBQ pork and BBQ duck plus a crab and fish soup. Since there is an opening discount of 10%, my bill was only $15.20. I left feeling very full and very satisfied.
I wish that there was a Congee Queen close to me in Brampton.
Looks Great. I drove by yesterday and noticed this restaurant. Apparently it had just opened. The décor is quite modern and tastefully done. The food that I ate was also tasteful. The lunch specials looked like good value; however, I was seduced by the picture of a seafood dish on the a la carte menu and ordered it. The portion was quite large and I was quite full by the time I finished. I did not try the Congee, because I was told that there is too much in a bowl for one person.
It was not busy on its first full day; however, this restaurant should become very successful.
While the restaurant is situated in CenterPoint Mall, the main entrance is external and separate. The interior was similar to other Congee Queen locations with lots of booths and large round tables. High ceilings, chandelier lights and Asian inspired decor made the restaurant feel elegant. Service was mixed, not great but not terrible. Going into the meal, I wanted to order enough food to bring home leftovers for lunch the next day. I normally do not order 4 dishes for just two people (most of the time).
