Kinda stumbled upon this place last min looking for something to eat. Got dinner at the downstairs. Small menu but the food was great. Service started a little slow but they were generally pretty good and attentive. The drinks were really good according to my fiance. Price was reasonable and average for the type of place for the area.
Amazing experience. This place will soon be relocating under s different name but it was amazing! Great education on absinthe. They had a variety to try. They had a variety of cocktails to try with absinthe in them. Our server was from France. The lounge upstairs is a very relaxed setting. Food was also amazing.
What a great bar/restruant. Very unique and authentic french environment. The raclette was absolutely amazing. Such a cool experience. The atmosphere is so personal and charming. The upstairs feels like your siting in an old French apartment. If your into absent, they have every option available. A great date spot or just a cool hang out with friends.
Stopped by this place with friends on a bar hop, not really knowing what to expect. We went upstairs to a very quiet, fancy-looking area with a well-dressed bartender/waiter. Oops! I was dressed pretty casual. Though I was a bit uncomfortable about this at first, I soon stopped feeling that way as the waiter didn't seem to mind at all. He was very friendly!
Very cozy, quiet, and upscale feel. Dark but not too dark, and in a way that really adds to the experience. They specialize in absinthe and have a ton of selection as well as absinthe fountains for your group, though we all ordered different stuff so we didn't get one. Not such a huge fan of absinthe myself, but tried a mixed drink with it anyway.
Ultimately it still makes me feel out-of-place, as I've never really dressed up for much, ever. This and the fact that I don't like absinthe brings it down to a 4 star, but I imagine that people who like this stuff would give this place a 6/5!
Had a great time trying a new (and delicious!) alcohol. The bartender gave thoughtful recommendations and was a lot of fun to interact with. Atmosphere was quiet, low key, and upscale.
With unique atmosphere and food, the Coq of the Walk stands out by offering a wide variety of absinthe cocktails and speciality beers. The raclette cheese poutine was delicious and the burger fantastic. Will definitely be coming again.
Delicious gourmet food with French Chef and staff, great selection of European alcohol (especially La Chouffe and Pastis!). Menu à la carte, tartare, boudin noir, duck burger... everything is home made. Happy hour 5pm to 7pm and free appetizers on Thursday and Friday. Definitely a must try in Toronto!
Magnificent little gem in Toronto. I'm afraid to share this wonderful upper lounge styled in the 50's speakeasy days. It might get too busy that we can't get in.
Open Friday, Saturday evenings. Above the French Bistro "Coq on the walk".
True French raclette on Thursday night, and good absinthe.
A little piece of France in Toronto !
