This was a great local find! I could tell by the vibe and number of people here on a week night it was going to be a good choice. Then when our accommodation hosts also recommended this place so we knew it was a must try. We had EXCELLENT service and food. Fantastic filet mignon and my partner's pork ribs (hugggeeeee plate) were to die for. Old fashioned decor and a bit warm inside during summer but we quickly acclimatised as we were enjoying ourselves there! Will go again this trip for sure.
We live in the area and recommend DeSotos to all our guests - we run an Airbnb and everyone that has gone there has had a great experience. I've gone a number of times and the service, food and atmosphere is something I highly appreciate in the area. The menu is diverse and has a mediterranean vibe when it comes to the seafood. As the other reviewers have shared the calamari is spot on and I'm always open to try out the chefs creations. Not to get political here but some of the negative reviews in here seem quite biased and misleading. Great place and highly recommend.
Some friends and I had dinner here on Sunday January the 8th and spent almost $250 but it was well worth it. The grilled calamari was out of this world, and the pesto chicken spaghetti was amazing. Our server was fantastic, however the hostess that greeted us and seated us had a real bad attitude problem. If the food wasn't so good I would never go back based on the hostess that acted as though we were troubling her to seat us. Miserable with no cheer. She also had staring problems throughout our meal. However the food was so good, and our server was so sweet, we will be back!
Love this place. Food really good and wines reasonable. Try the pizza or pasta. The vibe is cool too. Open mike is always fun on Thursday nights.
They serve a surprisingly good brunch! It has been great each time I have gone and I've been pleased with the simple diner-style coffee. Nice and robust. Sometimes the service is spotty, it feels like a family-run joint that hasn't *quite* got its act together. But overall a decent place to eat if you're in the hood.
Desotos is good.. Totally great place. We live in the hood and go reasonable often. They serve good food, the service is good and the prices are reasonable.
I would say that some of the chef's choices are a little odd from time to time - like and avocado based relish with mussels. I once asked for straight up garlic and white wine with the mussels. What I am assuming was a line cook responded that he did not think that it would work very well. I ordered something else at that point.
This experience aside, if you order what looks good to you, it always comes well prepared, in a timely fashion, with a smile. We will continue to go back.
Where we take company for casual dining. The food and service is always good here. They offer a selection of craft and micro-brews on tap which usually include interesting varieties for adventurous folks. The menu is solid and they always have 4-5 specials which in the past have included thai curry mussels (my favorite!!!), roast rack of lamb and gourmet hot dogs. It can be a mixed bag, but I have never had a meal there that I didn't enjoy!
Amazing Burgers. The burgers are fantastic with a great smoky flavour served with chipotle mayo and avocado bruschetta. Fries are also excellent. The also have a kids menu which is a plus for St. Clair - very few family restaurants in this area.
Only downfall is that they don't take Mastercard. Would definitely return to eat again!
Love this place!. Regal Heights is another of my absolute favourites. It has great, classy decor, and some wonderful appetizers and entrées. Some of my favourites are their yam frites (stacked up like a Jenga tower!) and their mussels.
