Great pub in the middle of the financial area. Excellent for drinks or pub fare. I recommend the fish and chips. A nice down to earth option in the business district.
I really like the London pub vibe in here. It's super cozy and great for post-work drinks and bites. The $5 sampler items are really good - I usually get the mini burger and fries and the meatballs. Good selection of beers here too. My favourite item on the menu is the Bangers and Mash. It's sausages, mash potatoes, kale, and baked beans. Comfort food. The butter chicken is not bad either.
On a wet rainy Friday night, the after work drinking had to be moved from a patio destination to this place. It was a bummer since it was dark and wet outside. We were stuck indoors. Just outside of the First Canadian Place building, there are multiple entrances from the outside joined at the basement level. What a great way to avoid the wife or the mistress :) The pub downstairs is called the Chelsea Pub, there I had the Fish and Chips ($16.99) with a pint of Guinness ($7.69). This was a premium piece of fish, very fresh and soft. Not the really dried and crispy style. There was lots of natural flavor in the fish itself. We were there until the closing of the pub (8pm). The server was nice enough to let us settle and then moved us to a nice table upstairs. There, we continued the drinking, and ordered some nachos of share. The good food and service continued the rest of the night.
I love the fish and chips!!. After my coworker moved to our main office in the financial district, I met up with her for lunch at the Duke of Westminister. I was surprised how big of a place it was! The first time I walked in - upstairs just seemed like any ordinary pub, with the the bar counter and wooden tables, then I walk downstairs to see a modernly decorated dining room. I really liked how they have a menu of light lunch choices, all for less than $8, like their mini fish and chips. It comes in a cute little basket with fries. For me, it was just the perfect serving size, but of course, for around $3-$4 more you can order the full size. Would def come again.
Really cool dining room although I'd hardly say entrees are under $10. It was a pretty full dining room. Our service was a little slow. Our pitcher of Keiths came seconds before our food. I had this vegetable pie ragu type dish, which thankfully was really good because they had a lack of vegetarian choices. My friend had the 1/2 order of fish abs chips with no complaints. Great space! You can get a pitcher of Guinness which seems insane to me. The place was also kind of difficult to find. The address is for an office tour/shopping centre and it took a little searching to find it.
Not Swiss Chalet. Excellent tasty pub fare with a emphasis on real dishes and women to die for. Will walk a little longer from work to get my fix of the Westminster girls. Try the fish and chips.
