Love the food here. We went to Loga's Cafe just round the corner and stopped to get Indian food. Roti's (though look like rumali) were really worth it.
It's difficult to find a better option for Roti in all of Toronto aside from its equal sister site of Ghandi's. Be forewarned however, each and every spice level is like a level hotter than one might anticipate it to be!
According to Toronto.com, a roti is defined as “a handheld wrap of roti bread, thin and chewy, swaddled around a portion of savoury curry.” The article also named Mother India in Parkdale as a popular place for roti with a legendary butter chicken. Because of that, we decided to go there for our first Toronto roti experience.
Hands down the best roti in Parkdale/Queen West. My favourites are the chicken korma and the saag paneer roti. Don't forget a samosa and a pakora, so tasty.
Good Spice. Went here for lunch on a Wednesday with my pregnant sister (she was keen to induce her labour). The service was slow but adequate. Our waiter was actually quite friendly but never came to check up on us. One thing I very much appreciated was that he brought us a jug of water so we didn't constantly have to ask for refills!
I ordered the Vegetable Korma Roti and my sister got the Butter Chicken Roti and requested that it be made quite spicy.
We both very much enjoyed our food as it came hot and fresh out of the kitchen. The serving was twice as much as I could finish so here's hoping the leftovers taste just as good!
The food is the star on this restaurant! Is always very good! Those roties can feed you twice in a day or get you really full if you are hungry. The spice combination is superb and the roti is always warm and fresh, I always have the lamb roti or the butter chicken roti and never regret! Only one thing, if you pick up make sure you got the right thing
I just had a spicy chicken rotti. It was perfect.
Surprisingly delicious. An unexpected delight in Parkdale. We tried the chaat papri (chick peas and crispy wafers in a chutney with yogurt sauce) and the lentil soup to start, which was peppery and had quite a kick. For mains, I had the butter chicken roti: phenomenal, just as good as regular chicken rotis but the Indian flavours really set it apart I thought. My boyfriend had the saag kofta roti, which was spinach, potatoes, coriander and some other vegetables (we tried to identify them, but couldn't. All we knew was it tasted great!) It may not be decked out like some other Queen west establishments, but the food was solid (and quite inexpensive) and our host was very courteous and helpful, and service was quick.
Great food, friendly folks. Mother India is fantasic. Highly recommend the butter chicken roti. It's addictive.
SO delicious. I have cravings for the Chicken Korma Roti all the time.
The service is so warm and kind.
Everything I have tried there is delicious!
Love this restaurant! Great food, friendly service. Try Malai kofta roti or the butter chicken roti.
The best part about Mother India is that they serve each of their yummy dishes wrapped up in a roti or on a bed of rice. My favorite by far is having the roti and tackling the huge crepe like wrap filled with spinach and paneer with my fork and knife.
I came here for their samosa and the Butter Chicken Roti. Both tasted delicious. The place is not probably the nicest in Parkdale but they make up for it in terms of the taste of the food. Their rotis are quite huge and although I pride myself on eating a lot, I was left struggling to finish it in one seating. The owner of the place (or maybe it was the manager) was reprimanding one of the guys in the kitchen for something. He was loud enough for me to hear him from my seat, and it was quite off putting. The server was very nice though.
