These are hands down the best Portuguese tarts I've ever tried. My friend took me here after raving about it and I saw, and tasted firsthand what all the fuss was about.
The custard tarts were flaky and the filling was delicious. The regular size tarts run for $1.25 for one and $0.75 for a mini one. I got ten mini tarts for my family, and they enjoyed them thoroughly.
Yummy Bakery. I found this bakery while wandering around Little Italy last weekend. It's a delightful shop with great looking treats. I ended up trying one of their large sugar coated donuts. Wow! It was nice and soft on the inside, with just a touch of crunch on the outside. The sugar coverage was very even and complete. To top it all off the donut was only 80 cents. I'm glad I don't live close by because this place would be dangerous to my waistline. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.
I would recommend Golden Wheat if you like places with a wide variety of pastries and you feel like having something different from the usual. I got a small plain cheesecake and a lemon blueberry cake. But they had a lot more pastries plus breads and coffee. Finally, it has enough tables and is very clean.
