Got a Groupon for 2 and chose the taste of Seoul Korean BBQ combo. The amount of food was more than I expected. Everything was very good, but my favourite was the beef short ribs. The service was very friendly and staff was very attentive. I wouldn't mind coming back to try different items even without a Groupon.

Visited Arisu with a group of friends since we were in the mood for Korean BBQ. We tried assorted Table BBQ and I had sweet and sour shrimp. It was jumbo shrimp and the sweet and sour sauce was just right. Overall the food was decent. The location and ambiance was exceptional. At the end we were given complimentary green tea ice cream which was excellent.

When it comes to Korean BBQ, my preference has shifted to appreciate quality over quantity. Back during my university days I loved AYCE spots, especially ones with a late night discounted menu. These days with a little more disposable income, I’m look for beautifully marbled beef and fresh seafood. Arisu’s tabletop cooking fits the bill with premium Angus Beef, a bevy of authentic Korean entrees and an expansive selection of sake and soju.

Guess this is one the best Korean restaurants in Korea town. Last time I visited this place, I ordered the 'Korean grill on the table' for two. The meat was well marinated. The service was excellent. Would really love to visit this restaurant to try their bibimbap. Note: the on table Korean grill is not ayce

Really good food, awesome service, well maintained, and soothing music/atmosphere!

Food: We ordered Jap Chae (which I recently found out I LOVE), spicy salmon rolls, assorted tempura, and Kan Poong Gi. All dishes were fantastic: well made, decent portions, and great quality food. We also ordered dessert, a fruit and red bean mix over ice, but... it wasn't great. Just for different tastes I guess; I wouldn't recommend that dessert, but all the main dishes were phenomenal!

Price: We had a wag jag coupon--$70 of food for $35--and that really helped. We had $70 of food (with a few bucks to spare) but paid $56, including tax and tip. Not half bad! Without the wagjag, we wouldn't have been able to try as many dishes and wouldn't have ordered as much. The price would be a tad more than I like to pay but not entirely unreasonable for the quality and size of food portions.

Service: Very friendly service. The server was attentive and helped us find dishes we might enjoy (which we did ^.^). No complaints!

Summary: Absolutely recommended! Yes, it might be a tad pricey without a wagjag, but the food is delicious, definitely great quality, the service is great, the decor is well maintained, and the music was nice and chill. Greatly enjoyed our evening and have lots of leftovers to enjoy tomorrow!

Beware that the patio menu is quite limited! Having said that - you can ask nicely to see if they can cater to your needs and wants.. After giving me a warning that bringing a stew outdoors is dangerous for them, a server comes to me and clarifies that if it's not windy, she can do it...!

But stay indoors if you want to do some table top grilling! The galbi is best, along with the pork belly (samgyeopsal).. Ask for the purple rice if that's your thing, of else you'll be given the default white rice.

A friend tried the raw beef (tartar) on its own and it's alright.. Very different from the French version - this one is heavy with sesame oil.

Service is good - some tables come with the service bell, which is awesome!

Korean BBQ in Koreatown Toronto. For some korean barbecue, I paid a visit to a restaurant called Arisu on Bloor, just east of Christie station. There used to be a McDonalds at this location years ago but after it moved out, this real estate location has been going downhill. I remember there were so many different restaurants that took its place but all of them went out of business before their 2-year mark. That's until Arisu came in. It's still going strong and when we went, it was busy - which is a good sign!

Even though it seemed busy, the hostess and the servers were very efficient. They were friendly and checked up on us to make sure the tabletop grill had the right amount of heat, etc. They even offered to change the grilling plate halfway through our meal to make sure the meats are cooking perfectly.

They have quite an extensive menu with so many offerings: sushi, sashimi, table top bbq, table top hot pot, ssam combos, you name it! We decided to go with the Arisu table top Combo B.

The Tabletop Arisu Combo came with 5 different kinds of meats, veggie platter (to wrap the meat in), sauces, 2 bowls of rice and dwen-jang-jjigae (Korean bean stew). Of course all the traditional side dishes came along with the order.

The Soybean Stew came as well. It doesn't look that good but it tasted very good. It wasn't too soybean potent, which a lot of stews can be. It was the perfect accompaniment to all the meats.

Overall, we had a good experience here. The beef short ribs impressed us but the other meats in the combo and portions were disappointing to the price we paid. We would go back to try their sushi & sashimi or something else in their HUGE menu next time as their service did leave us on a good note!

Great choice in Koreatown. There is sure to be something to please everyone with the array of options on the menu. From sushi to table BBQ to authentic korean stews - you can try a bit of everything with their combo deals. We went with a group of 4 and ordered the combo for 4 for $100 - it was enough food for probably 6-7 people...portions definitely did not disappoint! Sushi was fresh, BBQ was delicious and all the extras that came with the meal were very tasty! Would definitely recommend - $25 per person for ALL that food, including sushi? Will definitely be back again.

Awesome food and service! The sushi is some of the best in the city and the BBQ is also top notch. Kudos for the side dishes! Plus the alcoholic bevies are reasonable. I miss Korea a little less when I'm at Arisu. I see many good meals with friends and fun in my future!

Consistent quality, good service, cozy booths. My favorite is the misoyaki cod (an app, although that with a bowl of rice is a great meal). The the quality of the meat and the sashimi, as well as the japanese-style appetizers/side dishes, are what make the place for me. It's a bit pricier than a lot of the places in k-town, but definitely more reasonable than Guu, with better food and value. (Guu has a similar Misoyaki cod dish that's a lot smaller.) If you're looking for other kinds of korean food go to Sunrise or Lim Na Ge.

Good food, acceptable price point. Ordered a tofu stew that came with multigrain rice, a Korean seafood "frittata" thing, and beef short rib with cold buckwheat noodle. Buckwheat noodle is just ok but good portion size. The korean sides are all very tasty, especially the sweet potato one. My tofu stew was really good, well seasoned and the portion is just right. Can't say the food is excellent value but the prices are acceptable. The restaurant is clean, but some staff is quite inexperienced. Will try sushi next time.

Buffet and Live Music. My family and I eat out on a weekly basis and we decided to try the buffet at Arisu. We called ahead to make a reservation for the buffet and live show.

It seems a little unusual, but you have to pay before you sit down to eat. Once you enter, there is a buffet set up at the back of the room, and a stage set up at the front of the room. The buffet includes: miso soup; rice; various Korean pancakes made from meat, fish, or vegetables; Korean BBQ meats; sushi and rolls; various Korean side dishes including kimchee, noodles, seasoned vegetables; and other items. The food was well prepared and tasty.

The buffet was good, but the music was great. There was a fusion-band with a piano, 2 bass players, a guitar, drums, mixed with two traditional Korean instruments. The music was really interesting to listen to. The overall sound was jazzy but it was something I had never heard before.

This place is an overall good place to go!

Excellent food and service. I think it's currently the best Korean food for BBQ in Toronto. The Sushi is pretty good too. Not sure why the Eye guy who probably knows nothing about Korean food gave it such a bad review as it was unjust. I think the prices are very reasonable as the portions are huge. All I know is I left feeling full and satisfied every time I went. The experience is pretty authentic.

Great place to go with friends. I have been to Arisu a few times, and each time it gets better. I think they are tweaking the menu, and they have improved a lot. The 'experimental' stuff mentioned in the Eye Weekly piece is no longer on offer.

The menu is now mostly Japanese & Korean staples. I've tried the Korean seafood pancake, bibimbap in a hot stone bowl, raw fish bibimbap (would be a great summertime dish as it is served cold), Korean BBQ, their Arisu roll (awesome) and various sushi offerings. All of the aforementioned were great and their sushi is amongst the best I've had in TO.

The staff is very helpful and asked the vegetarians at the table if they ate egg before putting it in their bibimbap.

This place is a little more expensive than others in the area, but you're paying for high quality food and service. Everyone I've gone there with have all said they'll be back - I certainly will.

Good restaurant choice in K-town. I've been to most of the Korean and Japanese restaurants around Korea town and this is definately one of the better ones. I went with 3 friends and we ordered many different dishes which were all very good. The fish was fresh and the meat was tender and well prepared.
The prices for the food and drinks were very reasonable. I will be going back to Arisu to try some other dishes in the near future.

Excellent food and reasonable price. I went to Arisu for my birthday for a party of 10. we tried out the bbq combo dish for 4 which actually fed 5 hungry guys comfortably.

the other 5 guys had their own dishes.

The bbq there was awesome. I love Korean bbq and the meat here was lean and tasty.

New Face of Arisu. My wife and I decided to check out the restaurant upon hearing it is under the new management. The place seems to have gone some major renovations.. we loved the special square table created to accommodate drinking group. What we liked the most was that the restaurant offered endless # of traditional Korean dished with tabletrop BBQ AND fantastic Janapese menus as well. My wife had spicy Fish stew and I had sushi plate. Well.. we could not complain about the quality of food for the price~~ under $40 for two for fantastic dinner meal.

Next time were going to bring some friends and try their combo menu.. they had, for either $75 or $99, 8-12 course meals for 4 people, including sushi and tabletop.

We saw other people having dinner with sake which they served over the slow candle holder ... nice!!

I strongly recommend to check out this place if you're in the mood for a relaxing dinner with ambience.

Pleasant surprise. I was hesitant to go the this restaurant becuase of some of the past reviews but was in the neighbourhood and decided to give it a try. My wife and I tried one of the many authentic korean dishes(tofu soup) and was impressed. The side dishes are also great. I noticed a sign saying they have a kitchen staff and managment. Service was good. Will go back and try the table BBQ!!!

I thought the decor was nice and the food was pretty good.  It is not as overly salted as some other Korean places.  I tried their vegetarian hot pot for two people and it was great!  They have good vegetarian options.  Unfortunately, they are a lot more expensive than the other Korean restaurants too.
