Had the roast chicken and squash and my guest had the fish on toast. Both were very good. Coffee was also fresh and delicious. Took longer than expected to get seated.
The food is really nice and slick, and the ambience is upmarket. The service is decent while the staff is friendly and knowledgable. A good place to go to. I prefer the grill over here as compared to the Italian food.
This visit to Oliver & Bonachini marks the induction to 2017 Winterlicious! 🤗 The restaurant was filled upon my arrival! Super busy! The restaurant had a happy ambience. Very festive and playful! May be because it was Chinese New Year and I was feeling joyful? Perhaps!😄
The Winterlicious meal at Oliver & Bonachini reminded me if a picnic lunch! Beginning with the appetizers and ending with the desserts, our sections were as follow: seafood chowder, warm pancentta & fontina gougeres. Mains: poached true north, and classic reuben. Dessert: carmelized custard tart and banana tarte tatin. What a colorful picnic palette I must say! 🎨😄
I really enjoyed the seafood chowder! There was an intense seafood aroma the second the bowl of soup landed on the table. I loved the creamy texture and the spoonfuls of seafood. The warm pancentta & fontina gougeres was a bit disappointing. It really didn't taste like anything? 😯 It was merely a small ball of pastry with the absence of any flavor?🤔 The poached true north was quite good. The soft boiled egg was perfect with the salmon! The reuben was satisfying. The meat was piled sky high with hints of sauerkrant. I also quite enjoyed the colorful fried chips ans slaw that accompanied the sandwich. Between the two desserts I easily preferred the banana tarte tatin!😋 I love bananas! The warm banana puree and flakey tart was sinful with the dollop of cream on top! The carmelized custard tart was okay. But to be honest I'm not very huge fan of custard!😄
I really enjoyed my picnic afternoon at Oliver & Bonachini! Our hostess was lovey, attentive and warm despite of how busy the restaurant was. I will now continue on with my journey! Exploring other delicacies found in Winterlicious 2017! 🤗🍛🍽🍳🍮
Great service and great food. The mushroom soup is the bomb and they also have different specials from Monday to Friday.
Some of the prices are a little too overpriced however their dessert is the bomb especially the cheesecake with phyllo pastry. A must have!!!!
Like the interior as well and as the ambience in the restaurant. great place for brunch or just to have a nice drink.
Bayview Village isn't a place I would typically go to as the upper-middle class stores are way over my student budget. However, I have been eyeing this restaurant for a while and finally decided to try it out during summerlicious. We went for the 3-course summerlicious lunch. It was quite busy and packed at lunchtime Saturday, although this may be due to the summerlicious rush. As a result, service was slow for us given how packed they were, but otherwise staff were super friendly and responsive.
In terms of the food, I was quite impressed by both the appetizers and main dishes. My partner and myself each tried a different item from the menu, so I got to try several dishes. I really enjoyed the crabcake and the salmon niçoise, both which were light and refreshing. For dessert, we got the popcorn ice cream and lemon cake. This is where I felt it fell a bit short. The ice cream reminded me more of smores ice cream and was not anything special. The cake, while having a good cake base and berry compote, was heavy on the cream cheese frosting, which was overly sweet and had a granular texture from the sugar not properly mixing.
Besides the relatively mediocre desserts, my experience here was fantastic. Maybe I'll come back to Bayview Village more often!
I love a breakfast place with a beautiful decor and original recipes. Makes it worth spending the money for eggs and toast.
From the moment you are walking toward the resto it makes you wish it was a beautiful day and you could sit on the patio (even tho it looks out on the mall parking lot). This place is beautifully decorated like a mix between Pinterest and Jamie Oliver. Perfect for a classy, comfy brunch. The staff are also very relaxed trendy in their dark blue checkered shirts and navy Dockers. All Very friendly and welcoming, our waiter was particularly knowledgeable, and not afraid to recommend items on the menu.
Items on the menu have a modern twist to traditional breakfast ingredients and all sound very interesting an delicious. Makes it hard to choose just one item.
We shared the chicken and French toast in waffle batter and a tomato sauce poached egg served in its Le Creuset dish. The breakfast was very delicious and would definitely recommend to those looking for a non traditional breakfast place. The fried chicken was over cooked and with the 3cm thick French toast, was very dry. Did not enjoy as much, but I can imagine that if not over cooked, would have interesting flavors with the caramel sauce and brandy maple syrup. The coffee was ok. The price tag...about $20pp.
Would definitely recommend for a cozy classy Sunday brunch.
I had a lovely brunch with my parents today. The service was friendly and the food was tasty. We didn't order anything extraordinary off the menu. My mom had the Rotisserie Chicken Clubhouse, my dad had the 2 Egg Breakfast, and I had the Crab and Cod Cakes.
The food has always been very consistent and is great for larger groups as it's quite spacious. The seating arrangement is very comfortable. This location is also very kid-friendly and the proof is when my little nephews actually request to come eat here.
We had been to this location of Oliver & Bonancini several years ago and enjoyed it. This evening it was just for dessert, for part two of our celebration for some 2015 success. SWMBO ordered the Seasonal Crème Brûlée, which is one of her current favourite desserts. I had the Double Chocolate Lava Cake (warm), with a raspberry sauce. A decadent way to finish off the evening.
Oliver and Bonacini restaurants are quite popular for their delectable food. The cafe grill is a bit more laid back and casual environment compared to a few of their other higher end, classy restaurants.
Atmosphere:
I recommend making reservations so that you don't have to wait for a table. They seemed to be quite busy. The staff are well trained and are easy to talk to about the menu. The environment was relaxing.
Food:
I decided to try Sundar's Spicy Lamb Rolls which are crispy rolls filled with a spicy lamb and potato filling with a side sauce of coriander raita to dip it in. Since I have a Sri Lankan background, rolls is a very common dish in my culture and I didn't think this would be "spicy" compared to our traditional rolls. Yet, I was pleasantly surprised. These rolls were quite flavourful and spicy. The spice level was good for me, but for someone that can't handle the heat, I wouldn't recommend it. It tasted great with the dipping sauce and in the end, this dish was my favourite meal! My main entree was fetuccine bolognese which was basically homemade fetuccine pasta with a marinara sauce, ground beef and shaved parmesan on top. I enjoyed the texture of the freshly made pasta, but other than that the dish was a bit lacking. I found it to be a bit bland and not as flavourful as I had hoped. It could have been because I had eaten it after the very delicious rolls!
Overall, my experience was great and I would definitely go again! Check it out.
O & B place is nothing too special. Their food is good but nothing has ever blown me away. Due to that lack of wow factor, this place isn't really that memorable. Once, I ordered their pasta with a bolognese sauce and it was salty, oily and subpar in general. Other menu items I have ordered fail to stand out in my mind.
This place is a crowd pleaser and meant to appeal to a wide range of people.
The desserts are their only saving grace.
I treated my sister here for an afternoon tea. It comes with either tea or coffee and the chef's dessert platter.
The chef's dessert platter came with carrot cake, s'mores brownie and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. We ordered double cheesecake because they were all out of lemon squares.
The s'mores was their weakest link. The marshmallows on top were clearly store-bought.
The white chocolate cheese cake was delicious. I really enjoyed how all the flavours came through wonderfully.
Their carrot cake was topped with lemon gelato. It was a delicious flavour contrast and the lemon helped cut the sweet. I wasn't a fan of the grated carrot on top. It was a little difficult to eat and the lemon was overpowering with the lemon gelato.
Winterlicious menu: Food: .... Winterlicious menu:
Food: 10/10. Good portion size.
Service: needed a reservation, very busy. The server was absent minded and insisted I get drinks that I didn't want. Brought the bill before we completed the meal.
Ambiant: nice and very busy. For a mall restaurant it's beautiful with modern interior decor. Spacious with high ceilings.
Overall: 8/10
Would return: no. Toronto has better places to try.
Just double check the new menu, what it has is good but not for picky eaters
Fun, tasty, consistent. This place delivers on all fronts. Fun atmosphere, attentive friendly waitstaff. Never boring and the decor is beautiful. Food is very solid, not mind blowingly creative, but never disappointing. Mushroom and bean soups are good, chicken burger is juicy, calamari is good as well, though can be a little bit greasy. Regular burgers also great. Sweet potato fries come with a nice spicy dipping sauce. Overall, very good, recommend.
Two thumbs up. I've always had a pleasant experience here! Bustling atmosphere, professional waitstaff, and great food. The soup and salad combo for lunch is never a disappointment. The mushroom soup is fantastic - not made with cream! And there are gluten-free options. Beware of the Margherita pizza - there is barely any basil on it :( Great for a lunch meeting, dessert and coffee with a friend, a family gathering, but not for a first date (tables are close together and can be noisy).
Very clean and professional. This place is slick! Food is well presented and fresh, staff are well pressed and professional, the space is clean, white, nice din with the open kitchen, lots of action.
Perfect for a group of ladies, went for a friend's birthday, we all enjoyed it.
Good food at reasonable prices. I live nearby and have eaten here many times. The food is consistently well-executed and the prices are fairly reasonable. The service here is always good. It does get packed for brunch on the weekends though so book ahead.
All around excellent armipshpere. The only problem is bayview plaza is getting dull.
Amazing!. Great atmosphere, great service and the food.....I'm finally impressed! Pricey but atleast you won't be dissapointed.
Good choices and service, never have to wait for seat. Brunch is good too. Could use more spicey food.
For lunch, my dad and I both chose the Mexican-Asian inspired dishes of Yellow Corn Tortilla Soup and Beef Bulgogi Quesadilla. While my mom got the Chopped Rocket & Romaine Salad and Blackened Haddock Hot Pot.
If you booked 7pm for dinner and you came 40 min early, don't expect them to give you a table even the restaurant is half empty for 1 hour. We did that and the waitress at the door told us to come back in 30 min. Its not like the restaurant was full or anything. I guess they just want you to be punctual... I think this place is okie. It is located inside a mall, which is pretty good because even we came early, we can just walk around and kill some time before our dinner. I have to say their bread was hot and tasty. I like their pork shoulder because it was very soft and held it shape. Overall, I guess they were alright minus the punctual thing for booking.
we were stuffed, not even room for their tempting desserts. everything was so delicious...
As much as I like O&B I don't think I would go back for breakfast.
Since this is an egg haunt, what is better than the Egg benedict? The salmon egg benedict with baked herbs potato. This is a definitely a great combination to start off your day. The salmon does not have enough flavour. It tasted to me like Norwegian salmon, I am kind of disappointed. The fat was not there and the flavour is missing. I meant this is great salmon for anywhere else in the world. But we are in Canada :( . (Maybe I am too spoiled by the west coast of abundance of salmon). The eggs was cooked very well. The hollandaise sauce is very light in taste which goes very balanced with everything else. The bake potato with herbs are very tasty. The potato is baked til with lightly crusted. The herbs are doing its job to bring out the flavour of the starch.
For a classy but relaxing quality lunch get-together Oliver & Bonacini Café Grill fit the bill in the Bayview Village neighborhood.
As it was a slightly quieter time of the year (after the festive season), it was easy to get a preferred quieter table which I easily got with a friendly a personalized service.
On this cold day outside, I wanted to try something different to my immediate preferences and go with the suggestions.
Our server mentioned Sundar's Lamb Rolls as his favorite. They are crispy rolls with chilies, cumin, curry leaves and potato, cucumber mint salad and coriander raita. This was a very tasty opening snack that was not too spicy.
One of the guests at my table had the O&B mushroom soup which is very good. I was pleased to see how much our server was familiar with every dish on the menu and more importantly how it was prepared. To me that is a very good sign of a serious restaurant dedicated to service and employing good people who will stay with you. Back to the soup, the base is made with a variety of top notch mushrooms with a touch of truffle oil to do the trick.
Every day of the week, O&B have daily specials. On Tuesdays, the special is a regional italian dish which is what I opted for. Today I enjoyed a lovely lasagna with different meats, spinach, cheese, and tomatoes. The whole dish was baked in the state of the art wood oven. You can see both in the attached pics.
The perfect wine to go together with this lovely lunch was a Chilean cabernet sauvignion, Aresti.
For a light dessert, I preferred something light with chestnut gelato and a scoop of passion fruit sorbet. It would have been nice to have at least a mint leaf for basic presentation as the serving glass looked bare. Our other guest chose the Eton Mess with a bit of toasted meringue, macerated berries and vanilla cream.
We never felt rushed and on this day, you could have a nice conversation without competing with noisy surroundings. It's a good place to return to for future reference.
