I was surprised to see bad reviews for this place. Name and interior could be better, but the sushi quality is excellent. Enjoyed every visit! The Chef's choice is a good option for indecisive people like myself. Tuna avocado tartar is delicious. Tempura nice and crispy without excessive oil. Prices are very reasonable for the value you get.

This place used to be among my top 2 favourite Japanese sushi restaurants in the city. It is still within my top 5, but I find their rolls and sushi to be inconsistent. Sometimes, they're amazing, with perfect rice and flavour balance. Other times, it's no better than cheap sushi. Although the menu selection isn't large, the fish is very fresh and high quality and their sushi accompaniments are perfect, i.e. fried minced garlic, flame thrower charred fish, etc. My sister likes that they offer brown rice as an option for sushi and maki. The price is affordable, not cheap, but still a good value. Their miso soup is very good, as well. Be sure to try their black sesame ice cream. Note that you need to ask for their freshly grated wasabi. Otherwise you'll get the typical paste wasabi. Service is also hit or miss at this place. I'm still a loyal customer, and I still recommend it, but you never know what you're going to get.

After wrapping a full day of Doors Open (5 sites in 5 hours), it was time to feast and get some food in our bellies.  We decided to walk back to Wow Sushi where it was closing when we tried to go for dinner after a movie in the area.  It's not a huge place but it always seems to get good reviews.  We ordered a Maki Dinner that comes with three rolls: California, Spicy Salmon, and Tempura for sharing.  They were well made with minimal rice, however we thought it was not their best cut of Salmon on display.  The other roll we ordered was their soft shell crab roll.  This was really well made and delicious.  Not only was it crispy but the crab's individual flavor dominated my taste buds.  I will probably return for this item but I would not order the Maki Dinner next time.

Wow Sushi is just that. It's an incredible little Sushi Place off Charles and Yonge. It's pretty small so if you're expecting to come by, be careful with larger groups. The menu has all your sushi favorites, but also includes some Japanese dishes like udon, karaage, and teriyaki dishes.

Cheesy name in my opinion, but you can't say that about their food. As soon as you sit down, they bring you a bowl of miso soup and ginger salad. We had the sushi dinner and the Chef's Choice. The dishes were very similar, but we had quite a bit of selection. The sushi dinner came with a mix of sushi favorites like salmon, tuna, mackerel and others as well. I will be completely honest in that there were sushi pieces that I didn't quite know what they were. They come 2 pieces so a sushi dinner can actually be shared as well if you so choose. The sushi dinner also comes with a shrimp tempura roll just in case you weren't going to be full enough.

The Chef's choice was a nice mix of sashimi and sushi. There was salmon, tuna, uni, and sweet shrimp sashimi. The sashimi was fresh and the pieces had nice subtle flavor without being fishy at all. There were cooked fish sushi which I loved and some that were slightly seared. The uni and salmon were my favorites as they were thick and just plain good.

Loved the sushi and the service wasn't so bad. Prices are pretty good for dinner, but I hear it's way better for lunch so I will have to make it a point to come sometime. This is a nice little place for a date as well as the restaurant is small and intimate. With food this good though, I don't really care who I come with.

Super cosy place and loved my sashimi plate (14 assorted pieces of sashimi on a bed of rice). The variety of fishes on the plate was just right.

This place has some of the best sushi in Toronto. The fish is always amazingly fresh and the gentlemen that run it are very welcoming. Highly recommend.

Reading the reviews for this place, I had very high expectations – and now after trying it, it didn’t disappoint! This place really is a gem. The sushi is made fresh and you really can taste it. Presentation is simple yet beautiful – and I think this sums up the experience of dining here.

Naming the best sushi place in Toronto is hard. I'm torn between ND sushi, blowfish, and this little gem, wow sushi. It's small and tucked away but holy shit. The presentations are stunning and the sushi is so good you run the risk of exploding from an inability to stop eating

Amazing!. Wow! Sushi is a gem on Charles St. I have been to many sushi restaurants around Toronto and this is by far one of the best of it's kind. The Spicy Tuna was phenomenal and is made with real Toro!! :D It was absolutely delicious. Even the salad and soup which are usually crappy complimentary items were wonderful. The salad comes with an excellent peanut dressing that is to die for!

Good Sushi. I live around the corner and come around once or twice a week. Great sushi and their food items are actually good too. Only issue is what has already been mentioned below, their portions are tiny and you can rack up at $30-40+ per person bill in no time.

Pretty Good, but now WOW. This place has fresh fish and is overall very good -I've tried it 3 times now. It isn't amazing though and the portions are quite small. I'd recommend Yuzu or even Toyko Sushi on St. Joseph Street for truly delish sushi at about the same price.

Best nigiri we had ever. Went there 3 times. The first time we tried a bit of everything (nigiri, maki, appetizers) but we were blown away by the nigiri. The nigiri are skillfully prepared, some are blow-torched or are topped with tasty things and it makes a big difference compare to other places we tried.

Prices is good for the quality and lunch menu is actually really cheap.

The place is small and clean, the staff is very friendly.

Overall, it's the best place I know for nigiri (and probably for sashimi too).

This restaurant has really great service. I left my mittens on the table and the chef or owner came out running after us on one of the coldest nights in Toronto. The food was also extremely delicious and the sauce that they add to their sushi is unique and very flavorful.

WOW indeed. This place is a hidden gem. The folks are very friendly, prices are good and the sushi is excellent. Second only to the Sushi in Key West Fla. I recommend this to anyone looking for great sushi. Not a fancy dress up and dine spot but casual.

Fantastic. Walking in you are greeted warmly by a passionate staff. The restaurant definitely puts a priority on service, and subsequently you are delivered constant answers for your every question. The food is like the icing on top, It not only looks stunning and is of high aesthetic quality but the tastes are very diverse and provide a rainbow of flavours for your appetite. The palate is as diverse as the taste, and it shows. While, Wow sushi is a little more expensive then it's neighbourhood competitors, it provides an authentic experience that is largely unmatched in the Toronto area. Definitely worth the experience!

Amazing Sushi. I have had the pleasure of eating here twice now, and it will definetely not be my last. Working in the area, and being quite dissapointed in the lack of good sushi for the last several years, I was so happy to stumble upon this new little place, and enjoyed a delicious lunch. The service was friendly and informative, as the sushi chefs guided me through what I was about to enjoy. The sushi was delicious, with little added touches that made this place stand out among the ho hum, and sub standard sushi restaurants in the area. I was so impressed, I brought my hubby down the next day for lunch, and he too was truly impressed. The prices are good, especially for fresh and delicious sushi, and the atmosphere is charming. You will not be dissapointed.

Shut up... :Yonge Charles: Things are still very up-in-the-air...I am on-edge...nothing is certain...except - great friends.  And trust me, if you think you have more than 5 - you are dumb.  Yay to the food. Ewww to the font and design . My gooder friend Minnie and I needed an edible pick-me-up...mostly because lately it just seems like she wants to cheer me up...I wanted to try Wow! since a friend posted pictures.  Of course after 14 or so years in Toronto I never except anything from sushi joints...save and except paying way to much for substandard sh*t. Now wait, before you angry Torontonians sling your insults, be damn sure you know what you're talking about more than I do.  Right, you don't...so let me continue: The biggest problem with sushi in Toronto is the rice and the way the sushi is crafted, not necessarily the fish.  I get that it costs more due to geography.  But let's not get into a Toronto sushi debate - you'd lose.  Never mess with the girl on edge. Wow! is charming.

Despite its name, Wow! Sushi is an unassuming sushi restaurant on Charles Street. At first glance, it appears to be one of the many run-of-the-mill sushi joints downtown. Instead, it is a hidden gem!

Chirashi ($18.00)
- I was very impressed with their version of chirashi, which traditionally is a dish consisting of assorted pieces of raw fish served over a bed of sushi rice. You pay a little more for a chirashi here than your average sushi place but it's well worth it. At an average sushi joint, the ever ubiquitous salmon makes up the majority of the dish with other routine pieces such as tuna, surf clam and shrimp. How boring! But, at Wow, you can delight your palate with a better selection of fish that involves sea bream, mackerel, and B.C. tuna. Not only do you get variety, but you also get freshness and flavour. Such is the case with their butterfish, where you can taste all the subtle nuances of the fish. At your dime a dozen sushi place, you tend to get served inferior butterfish pieces that have poor texture and taste. Often this happens because the fish has excess water from being partially thawed from being frozen, but Wow gets it right.

Interestingly, Wow serves the sushi rice in a separate bowl, perhaps to enhance the presentation of the fish.

Wow! is a great option to satisfy your sushi craving for instances when you want better quality fish but do not want to break the bank with the likes of JaBistro, Japango, Kaji, or Yasu.

If I want a la carte sushi, then Wow! is definitely the place I head to.

The place is really small but I’ve never had to wait. Within 2 minutes of sitting down, the waiter or waitress brings over miso soup and salad on the house. (Most places charge around $1.50 – $2 for each of these dishes so having complimentary appetizers is always nice.) This place is by all means no where close to “high-end”, but it has a very comfortable environment for a quick affordable sushi lunch or dinner.

I’ve dined here on many occasions and I enjoy the sashimi dinner and the sushi dinner, or just ordering a la carte sushi. The food is delicious – but the sushi is on the smaller side – No complaints at all about the food. Be sure to ask the waiter how many rolls you get in each order; if you don’t want to waste food, because once I ordered a maki lunch and got double the rolls I expected for the price listed on the menu.

Lunch deals from $10 – $12 and dinner mains from $13 – $26 (very affordable prices.)

The staff is very friendly and frequently check up on you, to make sure you are happy.

If they have uni that night, you should definitely try a piece.

This is one of the only sushi places that I have been to that has “Sparkling Sakè” on the menu. Very interesting and different – the girls really loved it.
