Friend took me here. Best place, not just for the congee, but pretty much anything else in their large menu.
Overstuffed every time we go here. Delicious and vast, we order several dishes. Once or twice there was even leftover!
Excellent food is very consistent from one visit to the next. Noteworthy is the turnip with shrimp dish. Very nice interior if you eat in. Lots of parking make it an easy experience.
Congee queen is one of my all time faves. It's not for everyone but it's definitely for me.
One of my favorite things from the menu is the turnip patties. They are seriously like crack. I can eat those things like everyday.
They have a wide selection of things to eat from and the place is always packed no matter what time of the day. Why? Cus it's the bomb!!!!!
Gotta have Congee queen if ur in the area.
Mhmmm, at Congee Queen today! I actually do come here pretty often because they have a wide variety of food and it’s a good place for big crowds for dinner or just lunch for two. Very versatile place where you can have snacks and bubble tea as well. It’s also convenient because this location is next to a Walmart and a No Frills!
This is a good place for a quick and inexpensive meal. The food comes out fairly fast and the employees are very quick once you get there attention.
We ordered the salmon congee. The congee was very smooth and flavourful. There were many pieces of salmon as well.
We also got the fried rice noodles with grouper and pork. There was a generous portion of noodles. There was a good number of pieces of fish as well, but because there was so much noodles, it would have been more satisfying if there was another two pieces of fish and more shredded pork.
I would highly recommend getting congee. The specialty bowls are humogous so it great for sharing. Ask for takeout boxes if you get too full!
Congee Queen continues to be a great place for congee, Chinese noodles and rice dishes. Wonder if we'll see one on every corner like Tim Horton's the next time I head back to Toronto? Or maybe they'll start plunking restaurants in the west... wouldn't be a bad thing in my books!
So funny that I found myself here again so soon. There are so many Congee Queen‘s all across the GTA now and it doesn’t come as a surprise because of how delicious the Chinese food is and how affordable it is. The menu also offers a variety of rice, noodle, soup, congee, and BBQ items.
The Empress Fried Rice at this location sure didn’t disappoint. The rice was extremely soft and there was a lot of eel embedded into the fried rice. It was so good, especially when it arrived hot at the table! ^_^
I’ve tried the BBQ duck with thick vermicelli in soup ($7.25). The noodles (lai fun) are thicker than vermicelli and tastes nothing like it; they’re a non-doughy texture and resists getting soft. The BBQ duck, although well flavoured, was chewy and difficult to bite through.
Needless to say, BBQ meats isn’t something I’ll be going back to order. Despite their extensive menu, I normally go for the tried and true favourites – congee, rice noodles with beef, Singapore fried vermicelli, stir fried turnip cakes and salt & pepper fried squid. All are great and arrive in huge portions, sure to satisfy crowds.
If you’re with at least four people, I’d suggest ordering the seafood and chicken with wintermelon super bowl congee ($10.25), a great combination of ingredients. When I go with less people, we stick with the small bowls. Something simple like the sliced beef congee ($5.50) allows you to enjoy the thick smooth congee. The beef, although boiled, has been tenderized so that it resists becoming tough. Duri
Excellent food. Large portions. Service is lacking though (that's why the points were deducted). But would still recommend and would come back.
As a native of Scarborough, I've been to quite a few Chinese Restaurants. My husband, kids, and I met my parents here. They've been regulars here for a few months now. The menu is vast, but for non-Chinese speakers like me, I'm thankful for the photos and English descriptions. There were so many choices, it was almost difficult to choose, but as this is my 2nd time here (ordering different things each time), I can tell you, that you can't go wrong...all choices were yummy! The service was super fast, served by efficient and friendly staff. The ambiance was great for a family with 2 small kids: a little on the busy/loud side, but hey, I think we all know that those are the Chinese Restaurants with the best food at the best prices. The Coconut Milk Cake dessert? Wow. The creamiest I've ever tasted. If you are a meat-eater, I recommend the Mango Sirloin on a Sizzling Plate...(do I need to say more about that?) Agincourt Mall is a small one, but if you have to run a few errands then grab a bite to eat, this is probably a great place for you to visit if you are ever in Toronto's East end.
Your typical standard Chinese Congee place. the service is great and fast and food is typically great although the last time I went the food quality dropped a bit. They make tasty BBQ items and I love their House Seafood and Mixed Vegetable Fried Taiwanese Vermicelli. If you plan to go for lunch on the weekends, arrive early as this place gets busy fast.
