Cute little bakery shop in old chinatown. Voted on BlogTO as best butter tarts so I had to go check it out! I must say it is one of the best! Though I loved the butter pecan square better! Both are very sweet. Goes nicely with coffee and need to share it with someone..Too rich to finish the whole thing myself!
Great little bakery. Easy to miss. I almost walked right past it. Once inside the smell of butter, sugar & all sort of pastry goodness was intoxicating. I bought a few items:
• Carrot Cake (contained carrots, pineapple, coconuts and had no nuts) - it was moist & delicious! The only thing I don't like was that the cream cheese icing was too sweet for my liking. I like sweet things but not too sweet. Despite the sweet icing I would still buy this again.
• Lemon Tarts - so good! Lemony & really tart. The pastry was really buttery...Loved it!!
• Lemon & current scones - great flavour & not too crumbly. They sprinkle sugar on top but I don't think it needed it.
I must go back again & try other things like the cookies & meat pies.
Dark Chocolate Cake Is too die for.
This makes me rethink what I love about the traditional butter tart.
Even walking past the door of this tiny bakery you can smell the love, butter and sugar. Andrea makes award winning brown butter #buttertarts but they are one of many. I love her light, crumbly #scones and pecan bars. This bakery also makes great savoury #pies like chicken pot and #empanadas.
