Came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening and there was plenty of seating. The decoration was charming and the staff was friendly. I had the Funghi pasta and it was delicious! This is definitely going to be my new go-to pasta place.
Salsiccia Pizza with spinach basil pesto, sausage, 'nduja, fennel, feta sun-dried olives and kale at Tosto Quickfire Pizza Pasta. Tosto Quickfire Pizza Pasta opened their third Toronto location in May at 800 Bay Street, just north of Bay and College. Tosto’s key
Pasta was tasty, hip and modern interior, reasonable prices. Great for a quick, casual lunch or dinner. I will definitely go back to this place. Get the funghi pasta if you enjoy mushrooms and garlic!
I recommend this place.
Good place and modern decorations. ate prese pasta there and one single shot expresso. Very open and big space to enjoy dinner with friends.
Food: tastes really nice. I ordered a pasta, the sauce is good, and what I love the most is the texture of the pasta itself. It's chewy, but not too hard either. It's just perfect for me. As for the meat, it taste okay, but if only they put more meat, then it would be perfect.
Service: friendly staffs, pretty quick as well. I ordered in the cashier, then I was given a device, that would ring when my order is done. So it is pretty cool and convenient imo.
The place: love the lighting, design, and the concept. The music is just perfect, not too loud either so, it is fine to hear while chatting.
I also love the fact that it has a huge glass instead of windows, so it is perfect to look outside.
Things can be improved : more options for drinks and desserts
I stopped in here for lunch with a friend on a weekday and it was pretty busy. Upon entering you can either look for a spot to sit first or order first and find a seat afterwards. Service isn't very quick so be prepared to wait awhile for your meal but they do provide a buzzer for you to carry around so that you know when your order is ready.
Portion sizes are quite large so don't worry about going hungry! The food was fine. Nothing to rave about but still good. The only complaint was that my pasta was stuck together throughout the dish so there were some doughy chunks which weren't the best to eat.
Tosto serves restaurant-quality food in a quick-serve setting. The place is always busy around lunch time. They serve pizza in 3 different sizes: personal, share or group. The funghi pizza is my personal favourite. Patata, calabrese and brasato are delicious. Pasta is served in generous portion. Try the carbonara, bolognese and puttanesca. They also serve wine and beers. You basically have to go to a full-served restaurants to get similar quality, and pay more doing so. It deserves 4.5 stars for quality/price combination.
Food: it is one of the best Italian restaurants in GTA. I love their pizzas.
interior design: interesting design. It is very unique.
Customer service: to be honest, haters gonna hate. Lots of people bitch about the restaurant not bringing food to their table. This is their business idea, for people who wants to have quick lunch. Deal with it, you are not disabilities. You are just lazy af. On the other hand, the customer service is great.
When it was my turn to be called, the guy at the counter called me too early. I was able to watch the cook grate a wedge of pecorino on my plate and let me say it had me zoned out for a minute just watching the grated pecorino rain on the pasta. It was mesmerizing. And I was quite happy that the dish did live up to how wonderful and comforting it looked. There was a generous portion of pancetta, sausage that blended in the creaminess of the white sauce. I also appreciated the bits of basil that came into play. All of that toppings on al dente linguini, what else would a foodie ask for? Suffice to say, I ate every morsel.
Lunch. Friday afternoon late lunch. Ordered pasta Norma substituting red sauce for rose sauce. Portion was substantial.
Nice aroma and great taste. The place was quite busy and the service was capable of handling the crowd. Fair value.
I will gladly return.
Overall: Good food, friendly caring staff, ideal for a quick bite
I know there are so many foodies out there in Toronto, but this was one of the few restaurants that none of my peers have been. Out of curiosity, I grabbed my friend who live nearby for a lunch on a Saturday. First off, in case those of you who are reading this don't know already, this is a cafeteria-style place (meaning, you pay for your food first, you get your table and wait until they call your name when the food is ready). It's really unique for an Italian place to have this style, but it worked for me because I was only here for a quick lunch with a friend (maybe not too ideal for a romantic date). My friend and I shared a regular Caesar Salad, Brasato, and share Margherita Pizza. I really liked the salad; unlike the usual caesar salad, this one has arugula inside (instead of just plain iceberg lettuce), so it's more flavourful. The Brasato was good; the pasta had a just-right texture and hardness, though the meat was a little dry. The Margherita was good as well- thin-crust, fresh tomatoes and cheese; the only thing is, it was a little hard (maybe because it was starting to get cold, I don't know). The staffs were so friendly though, they kept checking to make sure everything was alright and they would even run down to get your utensils and stuff if you forgot to take them. I want to come back here to try other dishes- it's definitely somewhere I can come for a quick lunch by myself!
I didn't plan to visit this restaurant. I was stuck waiting for an appointment at Bay and College, it was raining, and the bright orange door drew me in. I'm definitely glad I stopped in. The menu is relatively small, focusing on simple pizzas, pastas and salads with a small and simple wine selection. The staff are warm friendly and welcoming. I had the pasta puttanesca, the portions are generous, and it tasted as good as it looked. I tried to time the amount of time it took to get my meal but it seemed like it was ready before I took a look at my watch. They admitted that it was hard to keep the service that quick during peak lunch hour. (I visited at 6pm) I'm looking for to a second helping :-)
