This coffee shop has an amazing patio and I just tried the coffee and baklava but I was amazed by the interior design 😍 i suggest this coffee shop to art lovers
have canadian breakfast and Turkish coffee there before ho to AGO. the food is good but have to say the waitress there is not friendly and informative
We ended up here unexpectedly, after forgetting that the AGO was closed on Monday. It was a beautiful day, so we sat on a tiny and cute outdoor patio at the back. There are a few steps at the entrance and to the patio, so without help I would have struggled with my baby stroller. The two of us shared a crepe with ice cream (banana walnut chocolate) and a couple fresh juices. Good food, good service. Small space but didn't feel cramped. Will definitely return.
The Art Square Cafe is one of my favourite cafes to go to while on a trip to the AGO. It is located directly across from the gallery, the restaurant almost a continuation of the experience.
The cafe's most popular dish is the different varieties of crepes. With an array of sweet fruits to breakfast specialties, they have options to satisfy all customers. Though not being a crepe fan myself I leaned towards the omelet side of the menu; served with sautéed spinach and mushrooms along with kale.
Alongside the excellent food I also ordered a pot of Madam Butterfly tea, the drink not only being wonderful yet also visually appealing as well.
Overall the cafe has an excellent vibe with the constant aroma of crepes and fresh espresso, the walls covered in local art adding the perfect touch to their location.

It appeared that folks come to Art Square café to see the art and randomly walk over to the café side. We saw surprised glances from the gallery visitors as our crepes were delivered to the table and we prepared to have a full meal.
APPEARANCE An old Victorian house (much like the majority of buildings in the area) with a big glass facade proudly displaying artwork inside could be very easily mistaken for an actual gallery. The cues of a café came with the large black pan structure as well as the illy logo on the side. Nevertheless, as we walked up the stairs and opened the door, the feeling of intrigue and inspiration took over us and did not leave us for some time. Having the AGO across Dundas with its gleaming, spaceship-shaped upper section contributed to this mood.
NOSE We walked through the gallery all the way back where the café was and wondered how many people might have actually never make it all the way back. Perhaps the experience is to wonder through the bright gallery area (white walls, black frames) and eventually end up at the café. It is a challenging task to remain a gallery and yet still try to operate a successful café without compromising on either. Our waiter was prompt to settle us in their fresh cafe area - with green walls, black details and warm wooden floors. After all our questions, the waiter ran us through the menu choices, which included an array of sweet and savory crepes as well as interesting coffees and desserts. The menu has plenty of stock photos and was spaced out on quite a few pages. As we both picked a sweet and savory crepe, we placed our order with a couple of glasses of their house wine. To our surprise, the crepes had an option of being made with buckwheat flour, which we gladly did for half of our orders.
