Today we ate at Kwan for lunch. We asked for Dim Sum as starters followed by several plated dishes. It was all brought to the table at the same time during this unbusy snow storm day. The best of the Dim Sum was ginger and vegetable dumplings that filled our mouths with flavor. The meat dumplings were so-so but could be spiced with an excellent mustard paste and hot sauce. Best of all was the Kung Pao Chicken and green beans in spiced sauce. For me, the plated dishes were the best.

This is a fancy dimsum place where you order from the menu instead of people yelling out the dishes in Chinese.

I enjoyed the mushroom dumpling with truffle and their Chung fun. The prices are steeper than normal dimsum places so bring a wad of cash if you plan to eat here.

Lots of dimsum dishes to try for sure so happy picking if you do go and parking isn’t easy since it’s st Yonge and st Claire and green p Parking charges $2.50 every half hour which is cray cray!

Our manager was in town today and took the team out for lunch. We went to Kwan.

There was a continuous supply of tea.

Many at our table started with wonton soup.

We ordered a bunch of things and shared.

I'm not adventurous re Chinese so had and liked what I've labeled.

The servers weren't overly friendly but were efficient.

Kwan dim sum is pretty good as compared to the ones we had in chinatown like dim sum king. They have really nice rice rolls, ordered the shrimp, spinach and fried chinese dough rice roll and it is flavourful. The seafood dumpling is also fresh and the porcupine custard bread has really nice texture and taste. Pork and century egg congee is a must order has a hint of salted chinese vegetable which elevate the taste.

I went here expecting to be disappointed but I was very wrong. Kwan is an upscale Chinese restaurant with modern pleasant seating. No worn out cliches in the decor or menu. The menu has excellent choices for any tastes. I had the pumpkin seafood soup which was really good. Served hot and delicious. The miso cod was very tasty and mushrooms and tofu was also very pleasing. Serving sizes were just right for two people. There's an adequate selection of wines and sake which is a nice plus for Chinese dining. Service was attentive but not at all intrusive. Our server was spot on and unobtrusive, a rarity in Toronto. Good for solo dining or a group. The food is far superior to most Chinese restaurants anywhere in the GTA. I didn't have high hopes for Asian food at Yonge and St. Clair but Kwan really surprised me.

Kwan is a beautiful modern Dim Sum and Chinese restaurant at Yonge and St. Clair. We went for the Dim Sum which consisted of traditional dishes that were often presented beautifully. They most typical items from shrimp dumplings, siu mai’s and chicken feet. I didn’t take a picture of everything because I thought it would be annoying to get the table of 10 to stop eating. Hah!

Hah!

The taro pudding for example was presented as small individual little bites instead of the regular fend for yourself squares.

These deep-fried squid were presented in a bowl that you could eat. In case you were wondering, the bowl tasted like shrimp chips. These adorable bunnies were filled with cream custard. We also got some adorable bees with almonds.

We had a pleasant experience at Kwan and were super full and didn’t spend as much as we expected considering how well presented and smaller portion the dishes were. For those looking for a clean, yet still authentic (in terms of taste) experience, Kwan is a splendid spot. Plus you can instagram their desserts!

Amazing dim sum experience, seated very quickly, service was excellent. Food decor beautiful, the restaurant clean, there was no uncontrolled crowd of people at the front pushing and shoving for seating. Pricing was reasonable, wasn't bad. I would definitely recommend this place.

By far the nicest, cleanest and best Dim Sum in Toronto! Kwan and Dynasty are the only two that look to be able to pass Health Department scrutiny.

With it’s bustling South East Asian districts, we couldn’t pass our chance to experience Dim Sum. A far cry from the standard cart fare, Kwan located in the fashionable part of Yongee Street treats dim sum like fine art focusing on superior quality and freshness. Baby Bok Choy with Goji Berries & Enoki Mushrooms, Steamed Shanghai Style Pork Dumplings, Steamed Dumplings with Duck Meat, Tender Beef wrapped with Steam Rice Flour Noodle, and Pan-fried Turnip Pudding was all what we could manage to order in the short period of time we had. These bite-size treats won brownie points not just for maintaining superior quality but also for their pleasing prices.

I’ve been on a dimsum kick the last month. This has included several great meals uptown and one unforgettable lunch midtown. Yes midtown. In a neighbourhood known better for fried chicken and brunch, Kwan has brought delectable, authentic dim sum dishes to Yonge and St. Clair. Midtown is seriously lacking options for good Chinese food, if Kwan is the beginning of a new influx, I for one can’t wait.

This is my new favourite Chinese restaurant for both dimsum and dinner. The food is prepared with love and made with quality ingredients. The presentation is also pleasing to the eye. The service was professional but relaxed. Much different than the hectic atmosphere at most Chinese restaurants. You get what you pay for.
Another great plus is that they are also able to accommodate large groups. Their extensive dimsum menu has a lot of unique dishes found no where else. One dish I highly recommend is their Crispy Spring Roll (Shrimp, Pork, & Veg) wrapped w/ Steamed Rice Flour Noodle. This dish is so unique and delicious. You will not be disappointed.
As for dinner options, some of my favs were the Chicken Ya-Ca Mein (delicious noodles with chicken, celery, carrots, and mushrooms), Creamy Corn & Grouper Soup (creamy and smooth like silk), Crispy Shrimps (think deep fried crab claws but with shrimp instead), and the Spicy Eggplant & Tofu (comes in a hotpot so it's super temperature hot but once it cools down, all the yummy flavours have melted together. Delish!).
I could go on and on about this place but it's best that you try it out for yourself!

Modern Dim Sum Lounge. If you've never had dim sum before, spend a few minutes glossing over the wikipedia entries so you understand what to expect. This sharply upscale dim sum lounge dispenses with the creaky and unpredictable perambulations of the dim sum steamer carts in favor of menu-based service. The downside is that some of the dishes may be unfamiliar to you by name since we're all generally accustomed to pointing at stuff we like from the cart. The upside is that you are guaranteed access to the best-of-the-best without having to wait. The turnip pudding is a personal favorite, along with the veggie dumplings. Service was curt and perfunctory during that odd time between dinner and lunch, from reading other reviews I gather it is a bit warmer during peak times.

Dim Sum good. Have been a few times now for Lunch dim sum with my wife and baby. The food is lovely, really nice flavours. The honey glazed ribs are particularly good.

As someone with a stroller, it is a great restaurant for us. The dim sum area has plently of room and because they are open all afternoon, it is easier to go when there are less other visitors to disturb.

I come here all the time and get Peking Duck every time I possibly can. I recommend calling in advance if you want it: I'm not the only one that loves it, and it sells like crazy! The food is consistent and delicious, and we always have fantastic service. Staff that remembers you, including the owner.

I hope this place has great business. It's one of my favourite restaurants.

DELICIOUS!. DELICIOUS is all I really need to say about the new menu at Kwan's. We have recently had the opportunity to go back to Kwan's and try the new Dim Sum and Dinner menu's.The vegetarian options on the new menus are really exciting and delicious too. One of my favourite's on the Dim Sum menu still remains to be the chicken's feet. They are definitely for the more adventurous but so delicious in a sort of sweet and tangy dressing. The new vegetable Shanghai style dumplings are a must try for everyone. You should leave room for dessert because the new Traditional pastry with Century Egg, Ginger & Sweet Lotus Seed Paste is very good. . From the dinner menu my new favourite is definitely the Salt & Pepper Shitake Mushroom. You Must try them! The salty light coating on them is perfect! The new tofu dishes are also wonderful. Lots of flavour and great textures. The Chicken with Black Bean Sauce was also very good.

The food is just incredible! Quality is above the rest. An absolute treat, and a total breath of fresh air to the midtown restaurant scene.

I recommend making a reservation for Dim Sum on the weekends though as it seems to be getting a little busier.

Kwan is a welcomed addition to midtown. It features refined Cantonese style cuisine with a few inventive surprises along the way! Back for dim sum? Absolutely.

This place was amazing. It was my first dim sum experience and I couldn't have been more impressed. The service was quick, the restaurant was nicely styled and very clean.

Basically the menu works like this: there is a menu on which you check off items, each item is individually charged. The waiters make sure to check of each item as they bring them so you're not missing anything.

The Jasmine tea they serve you is also delicious, but they charge by the pot.

Overall amazing place! Fun and cool atmoshphere with yummy food!
