Gord and I had supper before the Toronto Rock game this evening at The Strath Pub. Roger and his dad, Ben, went to the game with us and met us at the pub.

Gord ordered lemon pepper wings with a side Caesar salad. He really liked the wings.

Roger and Ben ordered a burger and fries. They said their meal was good and both finished everything.

I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Crunch sandwich (with no cheese or lettuce). I've had it before and it was delicious!

Sean was our server and he treated us to some cheesecake. I'm not a fan of cheesecake so Gord ate mine. He said it was very good.

As always, Sean and Tony (who was bartending) took excellent care of us.

Gord and I had supper before the Toronto Rock game this evening at The Strath Pub. It's been about a year since I was there last.

We both ordered the Belly Buster Fish and Chips and they were good! I got mine with wedge potatoes and no house slaw or tartar sauce.

Gord got his with French fries, house slaw and tartar sauce.

The bathrooms have been renovated since I was last there and look great!

Sean was our server and he took good care of us.

I met up with some dear friends here on a Friday night.  We all happen to be working in the downtown area.  A simple place with a warm atmosphere is all that is required.  No need to wait in line or pay for the unnecessary glamour of a popular downtown hangout.  The Strath Pub fits the bill as it is in the basement of a hotel across from the Royal York hotel.  Yet it is relatively low key with an intimate feel like you're at a friend's basement with a pool table and bar to boot.  They have all the popular brands of beer in bottle, half pint, and pint formats.  I had a Sleeman's Honey Brown in a bottle and a pint of Harps.  For food, we ordered a Calimari ($9.95)and a Combo Platter.  The Platter had pizza, fries, breaded shrimp, samosas, and chicken balls for ($39.95).  When it came out, they split the Platter in to two round plates for our table to share.  With the five of us there, there was plenty to go around.  The Calimari was good but nothing special.  The samosas and the pizza from the Platter was really good.  The samosas had some spicy kick to it and the pepperoni from the pizza was really tasty.  Most important, their atmosphere allowed us to just relax and joke around like back in our high school days.
