One of our sons (who is vegetarian) and his girlfriend (who is vegan) took us out to Harvest Kitchen for a belated birthday dinner for SWMBO. HK has several options along the meat/vegan spectrum, so there was something on the menu for each of us. The restaurant has a very comfortable, homey feel to it. The two hours we were there did not feel rushed at all.
We started out by sharing a dish of Crispy Eggplant (vegan), which was battered with a fresh herb tempura. The outside had a nice crisp to it, and the inside was good, soft and mushy. On the side was a pleasant tahini sauce for dipping.
SWMBO had the Southern North American Bowl, and added organic chicken. This was a brown rice dish with many Tex-Mex ingredients, such as retried beans, pico de gallo, cheddar, lime, cilantro, salsa verde, guacamole, sour cream. Fresh ingredients and tender chicken made for a nice dish.
I ordered the Napoleon Printemps, which was a portobello mushroom cap with many other things. However, after ordering, our server came back and said they were out of them. While I was contemplating other options, our server came back and said, although they didn't have anymore prepared ones, the chef was going to put one together for me.
Imagine a large mushroom cap, sitting upside down, like a small bowl. Now stack it high with grilled eggplant, goats cheese, sautéed spinach. Then wrap the whole thing in rice paper, and bake it. Put the round mound on top of a beet coulis, with wilted greens, and sprinkle toasted almonds on top of everything. Sweet from the beets, salty from the cheese, crunch from the almonds, soft from the eggplant, earthiness from the mushroom. Each bite had something going on.
Good conversation + good food = very good dining experience.
Last lunch meal in Toronto so I let J pick. She went with one that she frequents from time to time, Harvest Kitchen.
The inside is bright, cozy and laid back. We didn’t have any trouble grabbing a table as it was a Wednesday so we sat by the window to watch all the people scurrying by in the 40km/hr winds. The chalkboard houses all their specials for the day.
- Coffee ($2.95) - coffee came out cold. Our server rectified the issue and brought out a new one when she inquired.
- Hand cut russet fries ($5.95) - the fries were great.
- HK burgers ($12.95) with kale salad ($5.50) - I had a bite of the burger and it was pretty good but I can’t believe they charged $5.50 to add a kale salad! Not sure if that was a mistake (menu says $3.95) but I guess you pay a premium for kale.
- Daily sproutzzadilla ($12.95) - I went with the soup as my side, which was a mushroom almond puree with crispy onion and olive oil garnish. Wasn’t a fan of the flavour combination. Pretty bland and boring. The sproutzzadilla was better with toasted grill marks and tender duck meat. The portion is small though.
Decent enough but it’s pretty standard cafe fare.
Cute little brunch place on Harbord selling some organic fare and mostly home cooked style which I appreciate.
They boast a nice menu for brunch in my opinion because they offer a bit of everything, smoothies and juices, cocktails, steel cut oats, pancakes, sandwich and burger or traditional breakfast and brunch bennies too so there's something for everyone.
I really enjoyed my mushroom french fry salad which was basically some Kale and spinach with fries and mushrooms on top of it which was then finished with 2 poached eggs with hollandaise. So good! This was mostly French fries so the salad made me just basically feel better about my meal.
My husband enjoyed his chicken breast sandwich and home fries which were baked.
Although service was a little slow and they forgot my tea, this was overall a great brunch.
Sorry about not posting photos of my delicious food but I was too hungry to remember :(
We recently got a treat from Zomato - a complimentary meal to Harvest Kitchen! We all know that if a restaurant is Zomato recommended, it had to be good. We immediately went online to check them out, found that Harvest Kitchen believes in high quality ingredients. Using the phrase "Farm to Table" would be best to describe them. They use grass fed ground beef, Ocean Wise certified seafood, organic free range eggs, and natural / unrefined veggies when available. After some in-depth research, we couldn't wait to pay them a visit.
From the courtesy of Zomato, I had the opportunity to visit and dine at Harvest Kitchen.
Ordered the egg's benedict combo for brunch. They served it with the options of home fries, regular fries or mashed potatoes, but we decided to choose home fries. They were absolutely crunchy, yet soft so it was the perfect blend of texture. The egg's benedict itself was made with grade A eggs I believe, as it was larger than average. The hollandaise sauce was very creamy, but it tasted different than your normal hollandaise sauce that's for sure. And they included coleslaw as a side/salad as well and we really liked it as well!
If you are looking for a good restaurant for brunch, you may want to check this one out. They have the option for vegetarians which is an great addition. They really took care of the food and carefully made it to be thoroughly served. And about the inside: Although the restaurant may be small, it's crowded the time we went! The servers were very kind and asked if we needed anything else and how were the meals, overall they attend to all your needs. I'd definitely go back to try out their dinner menu next time 😊! Thank you Zomato again for this wonderful meal!
A short haiku review from me to you! Hope you enjoy it!

A Zomato treat.
Delicious, fresh, local food.
Flavour every bite.

Welcoming atmosphere, resplendent warmth of wood, and excellent service were the perfect opening to pineapple smoothie and a warm, lovingly created kale salad. Yes, it was warm. I wish I could make kale salad this good. I had my choice of local bakeries but thankfully opted for the cheesecake, which given the ingredients, has to be tasted to be believed. And yet, it was unbelievably good. Accompanied by a double espresso, great way to end the meal. Highly recommended for the taste of fresh ingredients and for good measures of invention and confidence. An all around great experience.
Their food comes from farm to table - that's really something!
Everything is fresh & delicious, they use lots of organic ingredients, the meat + seafood are ethically sourced.
Reasonable prices, large portions, great quality (try meatballs or burgers).
Plus there is lots of space - there are two patios and two floors!
I can only recommend H.K. - it's one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto!
"We were tempted by their small street-level patio with it's bright flowered planters. The interior was a popular choice - trendy and bright but we wanted the fresh air and sunlight. We were glad that our determination was not challenged and we asked for their upstairs backyard patio, which was fortunately open."
"A lot of care went into making every dish at Harvest Kitchen and we felt deeply rooted in the local. Our experience came together from the small details that matter - an intense chive flower, an attentive waitress, carefully seasoned and grilled asparagus, hand-cut coleslaw - once put together, one can feel a true touch of a great food experience."
Just a few bites from our full experience..

Really pleasant restaurant, with a welcoming, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. We had the Green Curry Bowl with shrimp added and the Kale Salad. Both meals were delicious. The Kale salad had pieces of butternut squash, red pepper, walnuts, raisins and cambozola cheese. I added a 6oz grilled chicken breast and it was fantastic. Deserts, Chocolate Pot de Creme and Blueberry Crumble, were also really tasty. The staff were attentive and helpful. At first, I was a bit 'put off' with a $1 charge, per person, for the filtered water (either still or sparkling), but given it was an endless bottle of sparkling, which tasted good, I think it was quite fair. All in all, a really nice evening.
0 By Marc Smith on 23 April, 2015 Where to Eat/Drink Share This Post In the Toronto vs Vancouver “which is the best city to live in” war Toronto is the hands down winner for having more roof top patios. If I was pressed I can only think of a small handful of restaurants with rooftop patios in Vancouver yet in Toronto they are everywhere. So when it is time to pick this weekends brunch location top of the list for me is a place with a rooftop patio. The sun is shining and I want to bask in the sunshine while I eat the most important meal of the weekend, brunch. Surprisingly there are a lot to choose from but my friends Carlos & Tara, who are Toronto brunch specialists, suggest Harvest Kitchen as our must visit spot. Harvest Kitchen in Toronto Harvest Kitchen is located at 124 Harbord Street , just a few blocks West of Spadina. You can’t miss it with the big and bold orange paint and the large Harvest Kitchen sign over the doors. Just to make sure you know they have a rooftop patio they have a large mural painted
Beautiful patio oasis, amazing friendly service, great menu, great coffee and such great food!!! I really have nothing bag to say about this spot. Their food is fresh and delicious with simple ingredients. I had the power breakfast and my friend had a Benny, we were silent as we ate because we were SO happy with the food. Arrived at 10 am so that we didn't have to wait, but there was no line and there is so much space that we would not have had to wait even at 11 am.
Decent food, good service.... Have been there a few times and have not been disappointed. Soups are great. Also love the chicken pot pie, Napoleon, the burger and chocolate dessert, all were delicious. I appreciated that they have many gluten free offerings. Will definitely keep going back.
Visited Harvest Kitchen for the first time last week for dinner. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I ordered the beet salad with and the vegan carrot cake which were both fantastic - and I'm not vegan.
Freaking awesome. Was starving in the area and decided to give it a try. Staff guided me through menu and I got exactly what was told I would. Totally worth checking out.
This restaurant is perfect if you're looking for a cozy neighbourhood place to have dinner with friends.
Being a pescetarian I've found it tricky finding a restaurant with an equal selection of meat, fish and vegetarian options. Harvest Kitchen certainly has a wide selection of foods which I was delighted with!
I went here with a few girlfriends with my friends birthday recently and we had a great time. If you check out this place, be sure to ask for Riley! He's awesome!
I really enjoyed this place! I had the fish of day which was tuna and it was delicious. It was done with shiitake mushroom vinaigrette, sautéed kale topped with beets & basmati rice. The flavours all blended so nicely together. I had some of my friend's crispy vegetarian dumplings which were perfectly done. Not too soft not too crispy and big portion size. For drinks, I had the bourbon cider. It's the perfect drink in the winter time and if you like warm apple cider you will enjoy this.
This is a good place for people who like to eat local and are vegetarians. You can add meat/fish to most dishes which is great for meat lovers like me.
I will definitely be back.Darcie Blair Sara Russell
Brunch was amazing! I love that the majority of the menu is all local food.. these guys even have their own farm and I've heard that if you volunteer, you get a gift card! Worth the visit :)
Harvest Kitchen was a wonderful meal and a wonderful experience overall. The place itself is well lit and extremely cozy. I even snuck a peek at their rooftop patio, which has a canopy of trees over it. I'm looking forward to sitting out there during patio season.
I had the Power Breakfast: eggs, bacon, beans and an English muffin. Nothing special for a brunch, I suppose, but I wasn't feeling too adventurous. Everything tasted wonderful and the coffee was plentiful.
The staff was likewise wonderful: despite how busy the place was, the food was promptly and pleasantly delivered. Actually, I would not that I found that all tables were spaced quite well, so even with the place full, I never felt like our party was intruding on the surrounding tables or forced to listen to other conversations merely due to proximity.
This was my second visit to Harvest Kitchen. While they don't advertise that they are gluten free( their hook is flexatarian) most items on the menu are either GF. Or can be made GF upon request.
I had the green curry bowl w/ steak side. Really nice combination of flavours and the side steak was beautifully seasoned and cooked.
My friend had the special, a 9oz steak thinking she would take some home - but that just never happened - enjoyed it way too much.
We finished our meal with their very decadent tasting pot de creme which we accompanied with a recommended raspberry apertif - the perfect end to a really good meal.
Because most of the mains don't include meat the prices can creep up a little if you're an omnivore, but still well worth it.
Service was great and our server dealt well with all our questions and concerns. Busy but not crowded, great ambience and a good sound level.
One of my best brunch experiences! Great food! I had the breakfast burrito and my husband had the eggs Benedict. Excellent, both! I had the red wine on tap-a crowd pleaser, for sure. Great service, too!
GREAT service! Super nice restaurant. Clean. Family friendly. AMAZING roof top patio, feels like you are in a tree house. We had the baked french toast and the mushroom fries benny.
