Reviews Boehmer

We got married at Boehmer last fall. I have to say it was a great experience from beginning to end. We had about 100 guests, plus vendors (including a five piece live band), so I was concerned about space. They assured me it would work, and they were right. We chose to do the ceremony at the front of the restaurant as the sun was setting. The photos came out beautifully, the lighting was really soft and natural. About 1/3 of our guests were seated, with the rest standing behind the chairs. The staff were flat-out amazing throughout the entire event! Friendly and efficient, very impressive. Most of the operation is headed by the GM Gordon & the event coordinator that the venue supplies. They were always responsive to emails and as concerned about the details as we were! Gordon is a machine on the night... several of our guests went out of their way to rave about him to me. It was kind of funny actually, they were truly blown away. The guests also raved about the food, as they should. It was top notch. In terms of logistics, they allowed us to bring our decorations and other items in ahead of time, and allowed us to pick up our items a day or two after the wedding. They worked to accomodate our needs. They have the logistics down to a science. The guests walk in and enjoy a signature cocktail or two that are being passed around. Chairs for the ceremony are already set up. There is a small private area at the back of the restaurant where the wedding party can make a home base, and walk up and down the aisle from. The ceremony happens and the staff quickly flips that front space into dining. Bar is open and the band is playing a jazz set. Apps are passed and at the back of the restaurant is an oyster bar while everyone mingles. Eventually everyone sits for dinner / speeches and as I mentioned, the food is amazing. Dietary restrictions are accommodated. We chose to have the vendors enjoy their meals in the "alcove" that juts out behind the head table, and they seemed perfectly happy back there. As soon as the dinner and the speeches are finished, the staff once again quickly flips the front space into the dance floor. The front patio doors are opened up to their patio on the street so guests can enjoy some fresh air. And late at night, a table appears with some late night snacks to help soak up the booze. Additionally there is a lengthy tasting of the food and booze in advance, so you can finalize your menu. Gordon is incredibly knowledgeable in his wine selection. This is an enjoyable experience. And to top it off, they give you a complimentary dinner months after the fact as a thank you. My wife and I just recently enjoyed our meal and were reminded of how great the staff and the venue turned out to be for our wedding. I'd recommend Boehmer as a great option for anyone looking for a downtown wedding with top-notch ambiance, food, and staff.

Chef Paul Boehmer is a master. His sauces make me swoon. The passion for local ingredients is strong. Chat with GM Gordon who will pick the perfect wine for your meal. This is the highest end food in a very cool casual environment. I am addicted to house smoked trout, homemade pate and something saucy. Desserts are always a hit.

I love going to Boehmer! Chef's a good friend, and we always feel so comfortable and "at home." I had the bison with gnocchi, and it was perfectly cooked and the gnocchi were excellent too, swirling in the jus the entire dish melted in my mouth. Starters were Oysters, Oysters, Oysters from Oyster Boy, on Queen St. W.. Another star was the wine list, you really have to visit Boehmer to experience the open kitchen, the perfect and friendly service and atmosphere.

The atmosphere was lovely. The food was melt in your mouth delicious. The lobster mac and cheese was the best I have ever had. They also feature art work from local artists. Currently showing are natural landscapes by Mark Brunton a must see. Look for the picture of the birch tress, looks like winter on the right and spring on the left.
