Really enjoyed this meal. Fresh veggies and tender chicken đ. The pork wing ton soup was very tasty.
This meal was the combo for one and I ended up with a doggie bag. Would recommend and will certainly return when in the area.
Didnât even know this place existed and itâs a great place if youâre craving Chinese food. I really enjoyed the e-fu noodles and the lady at the counter was super nice!
Thereâs a reason Hong Shing has been around 10+ years. Staff know how to get you in and seated quickly. Food is always hot and delicious. Whether eating in or taking out, Hong Shing is my go-to late night spot
One of the best restaurant I've visited so far.
Ambience is so great that you'll feel amaze
when you enter there. I've ordered a lot of
things and all of them are so tasty and great
in taste. When I see there presentation my
mouth gets watery already. It was so
yummy. A place you must visit
Its 4.20am and i am still drooling writing this! The first time in forever , did i decide to have my dinner after a desert. But it felt worth it. At approximately 10 pm entered this sweet, casual asian eatery. Nice ambience. Best part is , this place is open late nights, for all the night owls fetching for munchies, go gor hong shing. Me and my girlfriend went for the dinner for two, started with 2 spring rolls(3/5) crispy, nice just like a springroll, but ive had better. Then was the crispy chicken wings (5/5) , i loved them. They were crispy and just right, wings tasted fresh and smelled good! Lovely. The pork wanton soup(2/5) was good but not for my taste pallets. I am not a big fan of broths. The chicken friedrice(4/5) was nice, flavorful. Beef with veggies (5/5) was one wholesome main dish to have with the fried rice. It had beef slices, celery, broccoli, mushrooms, i guess spinach. Mild flavoured, perfectly balanced. The best part was the cantonese bbq. I took the bbq platter. With crispy bbq pork belly, soya chicken, and roasted duck. (Bazzinga) (10/5). Not a big fan of duck but my girl loved it. I relished the chicken and pork belly. Please please do try it with a beer, i took the coors light. As im not a big fan of beers but as a certified beer expert. Coors light is light and really crispy, which helps cut the fats in the bbq meats and refreshes your taste buds after every sip of beer. Good combo.
Total bill was $58 incl 2 beers.
Hong shing is definitely worth it. Must try peeps!
Overall 8.5/10
I travel here from Mississauga just for their fried rice which is amazing. Seriously both the house fried rice as well as the chicken friend rice are bomb. The chicken balls are good too. Great service! Love it
That Umbrella Guy @ Hong Shing.
Hong Shing is one of those restaurants that I always pass by, but never enter.
This time we had a lunch social at this location so I decided to give it a try.
On your way in, you'll see a BBQ counter with lots of fresh meat just hanging around.
The interior is spacious, with lots of tables lined up in rows. It gets busy during lunch, so consider coming a bit earlier (closer to noon) or a bit later to avoid the crowds.
Washrooms are located on the same floor, and from the outside I was expecting a small room with the basics. But then when you actually open the door, it's a pretty big washroom that's relatively well-maintained for a chinese restaurant downtown.
Their menu comes with a number of lunch specials advertised on the first and second pages. Some combos come with a cup of hong kong style milk tea. However, I was more interested in their BBQ section since all of the dishes were under $10. There was an option for "Duck, Chicken, and Pork on rice" all in the same plate, so what better way to try all of them at the same time?
The food comes out pretty fast. Almost...a bit too fast, but then again the BBQ is hanging up front so all they really have to do is cleave it up, so the timing makes sense.
The meat wasn't very hot. I mean, sure, I did spend a minute taking pictures, but it seemed to have cooled down a bit TOO fast. The amount of meat that they give is pretty good, given that I'm getting 3 different types. I found all of the meat to be a bit too greasy and salty.
They do bill splitting, but you need to explicitly tell the waiter while taking orders otherwise they'll assume you want one bill. We didn't know and some other waiter gave us a lecture on how it works here.
They also say that they accept cash and credit, no debit, but they'll only allow credit on $10 purchases or above.
Been meaning to go to Hong Shing for the longest time and never got around to it until last Saturday night. I was so surpised to see the place so packed at 3am. Thankfully, we were seated right away. Service was quick and food was tasty. Loved the deep fried spicy shrimp and the fried rice. The chili chicken was different from the other chili chicken I've tried before. It was a little dry but still good. The prices were so-so but food was well worth at 3am on a Saturday night.
When I think of Hong Shing restaurant, Iâm reminded of university and plates 3am of Mussels with Black Bean sauce. Hong Shing has been a cornerstone of Chinese food in downtown Toronto for nearly 2 decades and home to the cityâs best General Tao chicken. While the restaurant has aged over its tenure, over the past year, an evolution has been in progress. The first step was renovating the dining space and getting rid of the plastic table clothes. Next, was a modern update to the faded store front sign. Did you know the original used to be red? It wasnât always pink. The new Hong Shing sign is a contemporary design in yellow and black. With all of the changes, one thingâs stayed the same, the delicious, crave worthy, Chinese food.
Delivery. I order delivery from this restaurant, the food came on time and hot, the portions were a lot and we still had leftovers for another day meal. I had low expectations since in Toronto downtown there are not any decent options for chinese food delivery, but this place was good. I order directly and asked for a dish out of the menu which they kindly did. The only downfall was the 4.00 delivery charge, I think is free from just eat.ca but if had done that I wouldn't have got the special dish which was far the best of all. I will keep ordering from here.
Good food. I like their Hot and Sour soup....evening dish is better.
Their Chilli Chicken and Cantonese Chowmein is my favourite.
I like the fact that they are open till early morning hours...I believe it's till 4 am.
The food portion is a bit irregular but I go for the taste. I could always order another dish if I am still hungry.
I've been going here for years!! Absolutely the best Chinese restaurant in the city. If you haven't tried the General Tao chicken, you have not lived!!!!
