Top grade fish. Simple sushi done very, very well. Consistently amazing, ND sushi is the bomb.
Very very good sushi! It's actually all about the experience here. They bring the dishes out on these beautiful plates with wonderfully arranged prices of sushi. And the quality and taste is incredible. As someone who eats a lot of sushi I was very impressed.
ate veggie tempura and assorted sashimi A. also drink a small bottle of warm home sake. Sashimi is very fresh and yummy. The price is a little bit higher than other Japanese restaurant.
Sushi here is great! Not cheap but good quality. Good lunch specials and the service is great. The tempura box was really good. Spicy salmon avocado roll was great and the hamachi was pretty decent too.
This was my second time coming here, and this place is a very good and care so much about what you see and get on your plate. My friends and I (6) came here on a Saturday night and were welcomed and served with a polite and conscientious service. The food was prepared very quickly and was displayed beautifully. The vegetable roll and edamame are very good along with their dumplings and sashimi, will be returning when mid-terms arrive. :)
I was craving for good quality sashimi and I found this through zomato. I tried to make a reservation for 6pm at about 5pm, but was told that the place would be busy and cannot take my party of 2 in. I made a 7pm reservation instead. Since I had nothing to do anyway, I arrived there at 6pm and found an empty table for two at the patio. I was seated. (Word of advice, don't refuse reservation unless all your tables have been reserved in advance. This could drive people away.)
I've never been to a Japanese restaurant that has a patio. So this was a pleasant surprise.
My friend and I ordered a 10-piece sashimi, blue ocean roll, grilled mackerel, spicy tuna roll and grill squid. They were all excellent. I liked the blue ocean roll the most, which has fresh scallop and avocado in it. Mmmm... So delicious. Best of all, everything was very reasonably priced.
I'm definitely coming back!!
ND Sushi & Grill is a tiny shop and the sign is hidden by the big tree in their patio. The restaurant is located next to McRamyun (review here) so it won’t be easily missed! The chefs and servers are Japanese and as always, they are extremely attentive and friendly.
The decoration in ND Sushi & Grill is not of a traditional Japanese restaurant, however it was really modern and chic. There is also a patio at the front and I believe the restaurant is allowed to serve alcohol on the patio as well, perfect for hot summer days! When I got here at 5PM, the restaurant was empty but slowly, more people came in so I recommend making reservations in advance!
Great place. We tried seven or eight different dishes and shared them all so the both of us could get a good idea of what the chefs could create. We were not disappointed with any of them. I am a sashimI lover and the next time I am in the neighborhood I check out their offerings on that side.
Fresh. I've ordered almost everything on the menu. Everything is fresh and flavourful. Staff were polite and attentive.
Wow. I have been here three times, and eaten here twice. I have to say, this is among the best sushi I have had. I have not been to Japan yet, and so far, I would say this is excellent. The service is a little lacking and yet I would return. The quality of the food is outstanding. We had the sashimi salad, the assorted sushi A, and The rice is perfection; the quality of the fish is also perfection. Everything compliments each other. The sashimi is so delicious it melts in your mouth. The only problem is that they have set the standard pretty high and now I refuse to settle.
Recommended. This place is very good! Guys, if you need a date suggestion for sushi in toronto. Go here. You're welcome.
Quaint little restaurant on Baldwin street. By the appearance outside would have never known about this place. They really have to do away with that generic white sign outside. Had lunch during the rush so service was likely slower than off hours but prompt and pleasant.
Food was presented very nicely and of high quality. Will definitely come back here...it's not your generic sushi place.
Servers and staff appear to be all Japanese which shows in the attention to detail. As example my nabe yaki udon was so light and well balanced.
No salt lick here.
Shellfish and chicken. Raw egg on top!! Just like in Japan. Crisp Chinese cabbage all swimming in a flavorful broth. Best udon in Toronto by far at this price for lunch. Come early
Amazing!. I'm a vegetarian, so I often do not have many choices beyond the usual yam roll, avocado roll, etc. ND Sushi had unique options that were absolutely delicious. The inari and vegetable futo rolls were my favourites. The combo of the sweet gourd and salty shitake mushroom in the futo roll was unlike anything I've had before and so good! And the "meaty" texture and sweetness of the inari roll was awesome. This is hands-down the best veggie sushi I have found in Toronto so far.
The interior of the restaurant is nice and intimate -- a romantic atmosphere for a sushi date. We went on a Friday night and the small dining room quickly filled up with a line out the door by the time we left, so reserve a spot if possible.
I'll definitely be coming back for more, likely on a Monday or Tuesday night when the you can bring in your own bottle of wine for free (on other nights, a $10 corkage fee applies). Overall, an excellent experience.
Excellent food - sashimi was melting in my mouth. Service was perfect - respectful, attentive, Quick, friendly. The place is very clean and the prices are very good - excellent value for money. I will definitely be back!
Solid sushi place. Definitely good food... fish was super fresh, great service, nice atmosphere. we overheard several convos while we were eating re: nd sushi vs. japango. imo... japango still wins. but nd totally worth a try!
It takes a while and comes out of order but it was totally amazing and well worth the weight.
Have been eating here since they opened on laird, visited the new location in baldwin village and I am glad the quality of the experience has only increased.
Fresh sushi, good service, interesting dishes and a cute, cozy place. Prices are reasonable, if not the lowest in the city.
I work near by and me and a few of my co-workers goes there for lunch time to time!
I recommend spicy rainbow roll~ it is very delicious!! :D
ND Sushi is Fabulous. Our favourite Japanese restuarant. Tast, delicious, creative and very fresh. Enjoy. Henry & Marcia
Excellent Sushi. Went with a buddy of mine, had 4 rolls, the Blue Ocean, Spicy Rainbow, Dragon and Dynamite.
The blue ocean was really good, I've never had a scallop based roll. Dragon and dynamite were pretty good as well, your standard rolls, but they do make them quite large, 2 of us were full after splitting 4 rolls, lots of filler and just enough rice. The rolls stayed together well.
The highlight of the meal was the spicy rainbow roll, while most sushi restaurants use a spicy mayo to get the bite into their spicy rolls, they had a chili oil here, it was amazing, one of the best rolls I've ever had.
Definitely would recommend this place, it isn't your discount all you can eat sushi restaurant, but a very good upscale place.
Great sushi!. Got take out a few nights ago and I'm still thinking about it. Great spicy salmon roll! A bit more expensive than some of the other sushi places and a bit less on the menu in terms of maki combos/boxes/specials, but you get what you pay for in quality and the size of the rolls. Highly recommended!
Good Sushi in Leaside. Like other reviewers, I wonder why they bill themselves as fusion cuisine. Having said that, I did enjoy my meal on a recent Saturday night & would recommend this restaurant to Leasiders as an acceptable alternative to Mikado and Fukui Sushi (both also good sushi places).
Dined alone while wife was away on a recent Saturday. Restaurant was quiet when I arrived at 6PM and was no busier when I left at 7:15ish. The decor is muted & the restaurant "feels" very clean. Free WiFi is offered- super for solo diners with iPads!
Service was attentive without being over-attentive. Waitress described each piece of nigiri on my assorted plate & checked-in on me one time as I ate- perfect.
Ordered the assorted nigiri sushi plate, an order of gyoza & a bottle of Coke. Gyoza was excellent, as good as they should be. The assorted nigiri was great- tuna, unagi (fried eel), butterfish, salmon & another two types of fish. All were excellent- fresh-tasting and visually appealing. The six pieces of California Roll were also excellent.
I will be eating here again. The food was very good & visually appealing, the restaurant is clean & the service was great.
Fusion??. I was expecting a euro/japanese fusion experience (based on the description from their website and from other reviews) but it must have been for their set menu only because all the a la carte items appear to me that they are just "regular" Japanese food items and not "fusion". Anyway, onto the actual food, I am pleased with the quality of the sashimi. The assorted sashimi came with regular tuna, toro, salmon, hamachi and 1 other type (that one was forgettable). It was only $20 and the fish was really fresh. That day they also had sockeye salmon sashimi and we ordered that too and it was great. I am undecided whether I would go regularly or not even though their sashimi and sushi are decent. The atmosphere was pretty "dead" for a Saturday night too. I will likely give it another try and probably try their set menus instead.
Very nice. Good service and great food. I love how they have glass bottles of soda. Not the small ones but a regular size 355ml bottle. Coke from a glass tastes amazing. The bill was less than I thought too!
Diamond in the rough!. ND Sushi & Grill is a real East York gem! Don't let the unexpected location fool you - this is Japanese-European fusion done right! The crab salad, black cod and spicy rainbow roll were exceptional... and you must try the dessert spring roll - what a treat! I'm new to the East York area and plan to come back often. WELL worth the money!
Some original dishes, reasonably priced, definitely worth a try as there aren't many good Japanese restaurants in the area. Great quality sushi except for butterfish...
UPDATE - went back again and butterfish was fine, might have been just a bad day?
Fresh & tasty sushi for a good price. Recommend the Avocado rolls and Sashimi lunch. Soup and salad round the meal out nicely.
We are both huge smoked salmon fans, and this did not disappoint. AMAZING.
We first ordered agedashi tofu. It was very crispy and fresh when it came to our table.
This place did not look like an authetic japanese restaurant at all from the outside but it was served by japanese and the food was surprisingly good.
On Thursday, my friend Stella and I caught up over dinner at ND Sushi & Grill (3 Baldwin Avenue). This restaurant is a quaint place located in a pretty charming neighbourhood not a far walk from St. Patrick subway station.
SMOKED SALMON SALAD WITH PLUM DRESSING $9
We are both huge smoked salmon fans, and this did not disappoint. AMAZING.
MAGURO TATAKI
Albacore tuna, sesame shoyu $8
We were also super impressed with this dish! The fish was so tender and delicious, and the flavours all went so well together. So far, a very strong start to our meal.
SPICY SCALLOP ROLL
Scallop, crunch tenkatsu, avocado, tobiko, scallion $9
I don’t think I had ever had scallop in a sushi roll before, so we decided to try this out. Our first two dishes were so exquisitely presented that I immediately noticed how the sushi rolls aren’t really given the same attention. Regardless, I really enjoyed this, and having the soft scallop there was interesting. I didn’t notice any of the crunchy tempura pieces though. Also, I felt like sushi roll came apart a little too easily for me.
HOUSE ROLL
Imitation crab, salmon, tuna, hamachi, tamago, cucumber, avocado, tobiko $15
This is probably the most massive sushi roll I’ve ever encountered, haha. It was a messy eat but super satisfying with all of the different ingredients it contained.
Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner here and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. I do think I’m more interested in the non-sushi-roll dishes here though, and would love to try more of their cold or hot dishes as well as their dessert menu.
