This offshoot of Mercurio on the Southeast corner of Bloor and St.George is a bright restaurant / café / bar with a patio during clement weather, interior space divided into a "dining"area"and a café space, serving breakfast, lunch and early dinner (it closes at 19:00). The counter service has delicious sandwiches, sweets, cakes as pictured. The coffees are great as well. A great place to loiter long!
Food and Coffee - 5!! Atmosphere - 5!! Service - a bit confused.
Fresh and Delicious croissants and lattes. My only criticism is the awkwardness of the seating situation and the ordering/serving situation. Very strange as another reviewer has commented. The restaurant was empty, but we are told that if we are just having coffee, we may only sit in certain rows....
Then we are to guess which order is ours at the counter and pounce on it. I can understand giving your own order, but geez...with servers standing around yacking with each-other, they couldn't simply deliver your order? I haven't tried to cross a restaurant with a full coffee and food since I was a waitress in my teens 30 years ago. The food and menu looked amazing!! Nice place for a Sunday brunch.
Stopped here during a morning stroll around the city. I got an egg salad croissant and peanut butter cookie. My boyfriend just had a black coffee.
Everything was really yummy. Good service, cute little place. I would go back if I was in the area again.
This is a cute little place to go for a coffee or anything to eat.
I ordered a matcha latte and the Nutella cookie.
I was expecting the Nutella cookie to be a little softer and chewy, with perhaps some Nutella in the middle of it but they failed in that regard. The chocolate-hazelnut taste did not shine through. On the other hand, the matcha latte I ordered was really good
The food they were serving there looked delicious.
I sat outside in the patio with my friends and it was beautiful. It was like a mini oasis because there were stone statues and flowers everywhere, and it was really peaceful.
This is the perfect place to go relax and enjoy a coffee.
I love this place.
The perfect location for a nice cozy study spot or a lunch meeting or a date or whatever floats your fancy. The coffee is great. The food is great. But it's the atmosphere that takes the cake - you feel like you've been teleported into a warm sanctuary free from the urgent hustle bustle of city life. It's got a warm community feel, and the baristas are so friendly! A must-visit place for those wandering around U of T.
Ceasar Salad with Chicken. So.... This is a $15 cease salad with chicken. Is it worth $15 dollars? I don't know about that but, it is good.... Really good. The expresso I had while I waited to take out the salad was the best one I've had since my 3 week visit to Portugal last summer. Service was great, fast and courteous, I had my salad in under 10 minutes. Overall? Nice spot and yes.... The salad was worth every penny of the $15. Next time I'm in this part of Toronto, I'll be back.
Great service. I visited here with a friend, on a Tuesday at 1pm. It was packed, but we still managed to get a table within 5 minutes. Very quick and friendly service. I only had a latte and was very pleased with it. I would visit again for a latte or coffee when in the area.
Good food, good location, great patio. Great place if you are in no hurry. The service needs improvement.
We are here today for lunch with my colleagues and service was okay the food was yummy but over priced 4 of us ..
Go to u of t lunch spot. Quick and easy lunch spot close to U of T campus. The food is tasty and interesting, and the service is efficient.
Best Cappuccino I have had in a LONG while.... In my search for good espresso in the city, I have returned numerous times to this spot. Always busy, food is good but overpriced. A tiny side salad for $7 is typical. Cappuccinos are worth every penny. Haven't found another that compares in the area. The latte art is beautiful as well. The real deal!
Just went for coffee. Just stopped by for a coffee. Everyone was very friendly, a little condescending with the "young lady" thing but there was smiles and friendly service all around. I had a flavoured latte and it was pretty good. The cranberry shortbread was good too but not very buttery. The stir sticks in the bucket have been used (I did not notice this until it was too late).. lol. I'd go back.
I love the spacious Italian feel of this great Breakfast, Lunch spot. Wicked coffee, really good pastries. Best are their zucchini shoestrings. I also love the philosophy. Have a read of the photograph. In the summer they have a stunning patio.
L'espresso is quite a good café and really conveniently located, which means it's always packed. The staff do manage to keep the orders coming fast, which is to their credit, but sometimesI just look at the queue inside the door (at times out the door)and just keep on walking. When I have the time to site andenjoy a nice cup of coffee and a pastry or panino, then this place is a no-brainer.
