cash only is my only -ve feedback. they shud have debit/credit payment option
Woooooohooooo loved the ice creams woooooohooooo Woooooohooooo
This place is adorable beyond words with delicious treats. How can you resist?
According to me, this place is among the best dessert shops in Toronto. They have a lot of variety of shakes, ice creams, sundaes -yet to try a lot of them.
They have a cool seating outside and the interiors are pretty nice to.
Very cute retro vibes, it's brightly lit in different colors. The menu is written in chaulk on a black board. There isn't much seating available but it wasn't too busy when we went in. There is also a games room in the back- nothing too exciting just a few game machines.
Lots of options to choose from -milkshakes, ice cream, waffles, hot beverages.
They do not accept visa/debit only cash which was a nuisance for some.
Hot chocolate: delicious wish it was in a bigger cup instead of a little tea cup.
Icecream milkshake: thick and flavorful especially the ferrero rocher one.
Staff: I have to say the staff was very efficient, she was really kind and went out of her way to make my drink just how I wanted it.

Total VFM!! located in Little Italy, this place mostly caters students and no wonder the price at which the waffles are, they attract them. Had the Belgian waffle with chocolate and Cream. Less than $10. Going back for more!!
near my home, long business time. fancy flavor. welcoming waiter and you can enjoy your ice cream in cozy seat. They have many food you can choose
This place is bomb. it's like stepping into an Archie comic and hanging out with the gang at the local burger and shake joint. The seating and interior is retro, colourful and just awesome. They have a variety of options like ice cream cookie sandwiches, ice cream scoops in cups, cones or waffles, banana splits, milk shakes, smoothies, frozen yogurt and Belgium waffles! I have no idea how I finally settled on a scoop of bordeaux cherry in a waffle cone but it was delicious and I'm itching to go back and try everything else :)
Great selection of ice creams and a good vibe. The waffle cones are made fresh, on the spot. Tried the mango and the raspberry sorbet - the mango was the best! The ice cream is not cheap though. Ended up paying $8.50 for two scoops in a waffle cone...that's a little too much! But it's a must try for Toronto.
I had a double scoop in a cone... cappuccino and cookies and cream. The cappuccino was by far my favourite. The prices were not bad. The person who served me was really nice and seemed to answer my questions and generally serve me. It's a really cool place to be.
Apparently, The Big Chill‘s been around for over a decade and is an old fixture in the College and Bathurst area in downtown Toronto. After an amazing meal at DaiLo (you need to try this place!), we headed for dessert here. It was a chilly night but it was warm inside this ice cream parlour.
Great service and tasty ice cream and fresh cones made on site. Always a hit for the whole family. The retro decor is fun, the restaurant is always clean.
Mmm ice cream! The ice cream portion is pretty big but I find that the taste is bland. If you do visit just get ice cream in a waffle cone and you'll be set. Lineups out the door are the norm but it moves fast
The Big Chill. Try the Watermelon Sorbet, you won't regret it :) Banana fudge was good too...taste like banana medicine (so you know its good lol)
Great sherbet. I usually prefer ice cream but was swayed by their huge selection of sherbets in interesting flavours. I had the watermelon and it was by far the best sherbet I've ever eaten, my mouth is watering just remembering it. We don't live in the area so we've only been once, but I highly recommend trying the sherbets.
Great atmosphere - like an old time diner style. Lots of seating - both indoor and outside. Great selection of ice cream with favorites being the exotic Ginger (with real little chunks of ginger) and coconut. Delicious!
The ice cream waffle at The Big Chill was the best I’ve had recently. I would love to bring my friends here and can’t wait to try the other ice cream concoctions on their menu, that is, if I can manage to steer myself away from their amazing waffle.
cute ice cream shop lined with an abundance of cow figurines throughout the store. The walls are colored with bright green and watermelon theme colors.
Two ever visits from this place, and the same flavour ordered up on both occasions. I have never been to an ice cream parlour before I stepped into the whimsical entry of The Big Chill. Nothing like I would have thought that would come out of in the pages of Archie's Comics, An unevenly lit space, mis-matched props, and an extensive menu for the sweet tooth. The many, out of the usual Waffle cone, is their Ice Cream Sandwiches, Roll Cakes, Cake Pops, Banana Splits, and of course, they got you, my lactose-intolerant (dietary or not) folks, Non-dairy and Sherbert Ice Cream!
The Big Chill is a dandy go-to after a meal in the area, open until 11PM, this is easily an after-dinner spot. Grab a cone (cash only), and if the weather persists, take a walk around the area. College Street is such a nice area to walk along.
They crispiest Waffle Cone that I've come across, these have definitely been freshly made. They also provide you with the delightful (free) option of a dollop of Whipped Cream on top, and of course, a tasty mini Oreo for a friend.
Cheesecake Raspberry
...in a Waffle Cone ($5.90)
...in a Plain-Jane Cone ($3.40)
I couldn't go else where. They do this so dang good.
A no brainer for a visit, you are bound to find one out of the 31 Flavours that you'd swoon over.
Treat yourself to an Ice Cream Cookie sandwich at The Big Chill. Your inner child will thank you!
I loved their adorably quirky, diner-style decor (they really love cows, by the way) and ordered the Salted Caramel Ice Cream Cookie sandwich.
It was perfection!
They also boast a Waffle and Sundae menu – which I intend on checking out extensively, the next time I’m in Toronto.
The Big Chill is a small yet very colorful ice-cream parlor on the corner of Manning Ave & College St. It's situated in Little Italy, and they only take cash. However, there's a BMO right across the street from the ice-cream parlour so that's convenient. They have a decent selection of ice-cream flavors but what caught my eyes was their fresh waffle cones (made to order).
The Big Chill offers other kinds of desserts beside ice cream such as cookies, banana split, crepes, ice-cream sandwiches, and sundaes.
The overall space was bright, colorful, and very reminiscent of an old-fashioned ice cream parlor of the past.
I ended up getting two scoops of black raspberry cheesecake. I may be petite, but I sure love food and definitely sweets ;) I am not exactly sure of the price but I paid a little under $7.00 for the ice-cream cone ($5.95 for two scoops + tax). The reason for the higher price was due to the hot and fresh waffle cone. I believe that the regular cone or in a cup is substantially cheaper. I am not a huge fan of waffles, but the one from The Big Chill was really good and crispy.
My SO got one scoop of their coconut ice-cream flavor, which had some coconut shavings. The coconut flavor wasn't very strong but it was still a nice treat if you like coconuts.
Additionally, the service was quick and friendly for the few times that we have been there. Summer is officially over, but the weather has surprisingly been rather lovely last week. Let's hope that it stays that way for a little while longer.
Old and retro in style- The Big Chill is a fine option for Ice Cream in the neighborhood. I wouldn't go anywhere else. With over 30 flavors to choose from, you'll find one you will love and have the option to get it in a cup or waffle, plain, or sugar cones like usual.
There are a few seats outside and more inside. In the summer it gets busy, seats are scarce!
A sweet treat if you're walking around, perusing Little Italy- it's a go to if you're looking for Ice Cream!
Great place for those with a sweet tooth! I love the restaurant's colorful ambience. I had a crepe with nutella and banana. It was simply delicious! The best part about The Big Chill is that it's open till 12am, unlike all the other desert places in the area.
