A snappy upmarket diner at Yonge and Dundas (with entrance from the TTC station via the Atrium) serves good eclectic fare at decent prices by cheerful and efficient staff. And the coffee is bottomless as well... Pictured is the Tilapia Mediterranean which was fresh, hot and tasty. A good place - before / after a movie in the complexes nearby
Nice place in downtown if you plan to have a good beer and snacks. Ambience is ok, but the service is quick. Very nominal in pricing and you get a very good view of the downtown
Pickle barrel has to have one of the most amazing desert bars in Toronto. From puddings to pastries, they are all phenomenal.. Being a vegetarian, my food options were limited, but whatever they were able to make for us, was pretty amazing. Especially the pasta. It's a tad bit on the high side, but I would definitely go again!
Asian nachos and luau chicken salad are an absolute must to try. The salad is extremely filling, I'm never able to finish it. I've tried their quinoa bowls, not my thing a bit too dry.
All of the food was so good we wanted to order two of everything! The fried chicken with jalapeno corn waffles were really a yummy new take on traditional chicken and waffles. The fried pickles were the best I've had. Our service was painfully slow, and was the only down side to the trip there.
Although I haven't been here for a while I can remember the experience I had. My mom and I got lunch downtown one day when I was visiting and we had gift cards to the Pickle Barrel so we decided to give it a try. The entrance to the restaurant is beautiful with a unique and modern look to the interior. There are two floors and we got seated on the first floor more towards the back. Our food came in huge portions, we had a lot to bring home. We also had dessert and shared because it was such a big piece of chocolate cake! I liked this place but there was one thing that bothered me, there is nothing unique about it. It felt like the same experience I would receive at any other modern restaurant and because of that it's not a restaurant I would always love to dine in. The food, service, and ambiance were acceptable but not something I'd be overly enthusiastic about telling other people about. That being said, it was good. I like using the word 'good' for this one.
We were looking forward to the Bruschetta teepee but realized they changed their menu with Rose Reisman dishes. Our server was very melancholy yet provided prompt service. If you like salad, ask for less dressing. They made our salad with lots of dressing. The lobster tacos were ok. Lacked flavour but if you added the garnish that was provided it still lacked some kick. He ordered the Steak with Blue Cheese and I ordered the Lobster & Shrimp Linguine...let's just say I should've ordered the steak too
Amazing. One if our favorite places to dine on a toronto trip. Food is great, selection is amazing. Prices are ok. Never had an issue with service. All in all a 9/10
Average. I've been to Pickle Barrel twice. The first time was better than the second. The first time I went I ordered Mozarella sitcks and Grilled Chicken Angel Hair Pasta, along with a Rum and Coke. The Mozarella sticks were great, while the grilled chicken angle hair was not too great, the chicken was not done properly, but they did replace it so that makes up for it. The drink was watered down. The waiting time was pretty long. Second time around was not much better. The waiter gave us a dirty look after we downgraded our reservevation from 10 people to 6 people. We were told to expect longer wait time for our food because there was a big party at the back. I ordered Spaghetti & Giant Meatball Pasta, food was great, however there was only 1 meatball. The missed my salad.
Overall food is great but service can be improved.
I liked the food here. I've been here twice and so far it's been positive. The first time I had a burger with sweet potato fries and it was great. Rich, flavourful and filling. The price for it was questionable though. The second time i had a beef brisket burger with sweet potato fries again and it was delicious. My friend ordered a tomato pasta and she liked it, but it had tok many large chunks of tomato that she couldnt finish. In general, atmosphere and ambience and nice, service is okay, and food is yummy. Much better than montanas, kelsey's, boston pizza and Turtle Jacks.
It is just an okay average restaurant. This one is better than the one at Yorkdale Mall.
Very nice dinner, get better service. I'm suprised at some of the other reviews but here is my take:
Parking is non-exsistant but certainly this restaurant is in walking distance from many downtown locations/hotels. We were quickly seated but I noted that while we were following the hostess she delivered other diners their menu's and cleaned our table before seating us. The decor is very modern in good shape and well kept. Service was quick but not as attentive as I was expecting, her speach curt, her movements very fast, she was already gone when we finished our food order. She returned at the customary times but never really stopped at the table. My guests medditeriean chicken and my paella were both very tasty, hot, fresh, and artfully presented. Portion sizes were larger than expected. Prices are very reasonable and our drinks were well prepared by the full service bar.
Mixed Review. The hostesses here are TERRIBLE, they stand around talking and then glare at you for having the nerve to interrupt their conversation to ask for a table. I've never had a problem with the wait staff in general, but the hostesses definitely spoil the service before you even sit down. Large menu, and cooked/prepared well, but it seems to be mainly full of food you don't really want to eat... or maybe I'm just not adventurous enough ;) (Try the frozen yogurt, waffles, meatloaf, or fajitas!)
Niiice. Nice leggy waitress (blonde one) on the Friday night was a total eye candy and the aving grace of a restaurant that was full of tourists (and none too good looking) and so-so food at high downtown prices. Not much more to say about here exceot funny looking menus
The food wasnt very special. It looked better on the menu, but we will be back (wearing shades) because they had a couple of exquisite hotties serving. They should keep hiring these beauts and dress them more cutely. The pub in Eaton Centre does and Pickle Barrel will see more of us too if they tried just a little harder.
The Pickle Barrel I used to attend was much better than what it has now become. It used to be a nice place to get very high-end primarily Jewish cuisine. But now it has changed to the same-old cookie-cutter eatery you can find on any block of Toronto. I still recommend it because it is still a nice place to eat at but I strongly urge them to return to their previous menu.
One night we decided to hit up Pickle Barrel at Yonge/Dundas for their Decadent Cheesecake Sampler and it tasted as good as it looks! My favourite was the berry cheesecake. THE MOST DELICIOUS. I love that you can watch the NFL games at Pickle Barrel and I recall watching Philly in their shiny shorts that make their asses look so damnnnnnnn good. I was like OH MY and I had my eyes glued to the screen the whole time. Hahahaha. Pickle Barrel also has decent atmosphere. Apart from the fact that we waited about 20-30 minutes just to get desserts, I was pretty pleased with the place. Pickle Barrel Restaurant Review Food
Honestly the best part of going to Pickle Barrel is not eating the gigantic portions of entrees, my friends and I go to pickle barrel solely for their dessert. The molten chocolate lava cake never fails me, who can resist a hot lava cake with chocolate syrup with whipped cream and vanilla ice-cream?
I came to the Pickle Barrel for breakfast and it was delicious. The portion was a little small, but I left satisfied regardless. It was a reasonable price and the service was fine. I would certainly return again for breakfast or dinner.
Lately, I visited Pickle and Barrel at Yonge street with my friend on her b'day. This restaurant is near to Eglinton Subway station. Restaurant is spacious. You will find a variety of food. We ordered Pasta, Whole wheat burger and a brownie topped with yogurt. Food was fresh and tasty. Staff was nice and friendly. Overall It's worth spending your money there.
I have eaten at Pickle Barrel a several times and have always been satisfied with their food and service. The restaurant was convenient, and the staff was always extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. The portion sizes are huge, so my friend and I ended up sharing most the dishes. They offer a variety of dishes, which are reasonably prized. You must try the Fajitas, Quesadillas and the half bbq chicken.
