I have been to this place twice. First time I grabbed barbecue chicken which was amazing. Second time I tried all day breakfast which kind of disappointed me. Overall ambience is nice.
Decent prices, good portions, and tasty deli selection. Good spot for a quick bite. Always great chats with my server Dan, good sense of humor keep up the good work.
It was time for a late lunch, and apparently we were in the mood for a deli sandwich. So out comes the trusty Zomato app, and we were able to find the New Yorker Deli, not too far from where we were.
SWMBO ordered the Tuna Melt Combo, with Latkes and Dill Pickles. Since heaping portion of tuna salad on a toasted bagel, with melted cheddar on top. The latkes were a bit crumbly, but tasted good.
I chose the Montreal Smoked Meat Combo with Fries and Cole Slaw. There was plenty of tender smoked meat between two fresh slices of rye bread. Also, there were five different bottles of mustard on the table, so you could choose your favourite. The cole slaw was ok, but the fries were really good; nice and crispy on the outside.

The number one choice for smoked meat in Yorkville, and a charming diner to boot. Owner is very personable and passionate about this business, greets customers and works the meat slicer as well.

Not sure why my fellow reviewers are so negative. I've been 2 or 3 times in recent history. Once for lunch and others for breakfast/brunch. I have always left satisfied and happy. I'm generally known as a hard guy to please, so my satisfaction and returned business is a testament that this place is the real deal for smoked meat in the Bloor/ Yorkville area. I was there today (nov 26) and my smoked meat lunch combo with fries was tender, warm, fresh and delicious. The owner greeted us on the way out and asked my carnivore friend and I if we enjoyed it. We certainly did sir. I live in this neighbourhood and intend on returning. Moreover, I noticed the owner moving slow similar to another posters comment, but I believe that's because he may have a leg or knee injury.. Not because he's lazy. Bottom line, I love this place!!
Great matzo ball soup, just like at home. Mtl smoked meat is fresh and flavorful. Loved the place from the start and will definitely go back

Yummy latkes. The latkes here are delicious and that is what i always get. last time i ventured to try their perogies and those were amazing!!! apparently they are made by hand, with love. very tasty.
We have been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. It is virtually guaranteed you will have a good satisfying, reasonably priced, simple meal. Two of us had the chicken pot pie and salad with house dressing. One of us had the chicken club sandwich and one of us had the whole wheat chicken wrap. All of our choices were well prepared and delicious. The service was efficient and without fault.
The New Yorker Deli is a good example of a common theme amongst my peoples. It's one of those restaurants that they've never eaten at, but know where it is, and have always wondered. I think wondering is over-rated, I prefer to go in and chowdown. That's
Juicy smoked meat sandwiches where the meat's piled high and the bread is super fresh. Potato latkes. Vernors. The service isn't that great, but the food is good and the prices are decent. Bonus: Saw Kim Cattrall here once.
