For the longest period I did not try burger priest as I always thought how good a burger could be if it’s a chain, for me I always thought it would be like McD or BK. But to my surprise when I tried burger priest for the first time it blew me away. The burgers here are unique in so many ways that I had to write this review.
The first thing was the size of the burger though it was a small burger but the bun was soft as cotton, melt in mouth. The burger patty is made from freshly grounded beef at the store and that freshness is present in the taste. The party just makes the burger awesome.
Next is their unique menu, pairing of beef patty with so many flavours that it’s makes it special.
Also want to call out , if u like big burgers with large patties you might not like the burgers here but if you really love the burgers then you should definitely try this place once.
My favourites is the Red Sea , fiery furnace and Vatican City.
Definitely try their shakes they are worth it.
If you love burgers go n try it.

Place is small but seems to have great fan following. Options are limited but food has a unique flavor.
I'd the "Double Low Priest" and in general it is greasy but very fresh.
Yummy. I would suggest a straight cheeseburger as the priest one can be messy and although quite tasty and unique you don't get to appreciate the wonderful meat as much due to the mushroom mix. Thin and small buns and patties and cheese help get the right taste!
Second time:
Just had the regular cheeseburger and yes, it is better this way to appreciate how well grilled it is. Delish!!
One of the best burger places I've been to in the city. The only downside is the very limited options for vegetarians (only one option: called "the option"). The option is a deep fried cheese filled mushroom between two buns & your choice of veggies. I really enjoyed it, however it may be heavy for some people as it is a bit greasy and cheesy.
I came here with my sister today and ordered the 'Priest' with bacon.
The high priest came with a beef patty, bacon and the 'Option' - a delicious cheese filled portobello mushroom that's deep fried. For me, my burger was pretty big! It was a mini tower.
I had to take the mushroom cap off and let some delicious cheese ooze out, i.e., 'deflate it', before I could place it back on my burger enjoy it right to the last bite.
My sister ordered just a plain burger, and we shared the chili cheese fries.
The chili cheese fries were topped with beef chili and melted cheddar cheese. They were so tasty. I hate chili and I'm not a fan of ground beef. Those fries must have had some magic ingredient in them because my sister and I (almost) finished them.
I understand why others might not appreciate this place because the seating is ridiculous. There are stools, so there is no place to put your coat. The tables barely give you enough room for your meal and other belongings. (I had to sit on my coat and eat with my purse still on me).
You are practically sitting elbow to elbow with a stranger next to you.
Also, it is cash only. There is an ATM right next to the cash register but its still annoying to have that pesky surcharge.
The staff is friendly and hardworking.
For two burgers and chili cheese fries it was just under $30. It's quite steep for a burger joint, but it's worth a little splurge once in a while. The food makes up for any discrepancies.
We have visited this location multiple as this is the closest Burger's Priest for us.
We love the Bacon Double Cheeseburger & High Priest!! We like the Peter's Denial, but the burger is soggy!
Be prepared for long lines during rush hours on weekdays, and brunch-lunch hours on weekends. Seating is very limited.
The best hamburger.
The seats are not comfortable.
Heaven. If there's one thing you should eat before you die, it's the Priest Burger. Deep fried portobello mushroom as a topping?
Amazingly juicy patty, fresh bread, wide variety of toppings. No wonder this place always seems to have a lineup out the door (mind you, it IS very small inside, with minimal seating). But don't let that stop you. Go. Now!!!!
My first burger tasting - "The Priest" - a great comfy food. Not too greasy and party is good. It also includes a piece of "Option" which is a deep fried portabella mushroom and cheese. It definitely adds some texture on the burger. The sitting area is a bit small thou ... Overall it is great to try if you are in the area. Thank you.
I had the privilege of sampling the California Classic at the Burger's Priest at it was De-Lish! I took a bite and the burger literally melted in my mouth. It was jam packed full of flavor. I can't wait to return. http://shugatheroamingreporter.blogspot.com/2014/01/top-5-toronto-must-eat.html
Just got back from 14 days in DR bad food to finding this Jem the BEST! Oh my that was so good! Please open one in Calgary
Great burger, not too big, not too small, melts in your mouth. I got the cheeseburger with everything and added the fried jalapeños!! I could eat three in one sitting only bc the first burger won't last more than 5 seconds in front of me. If you're with a friend order only one order of fries as its enough to share.
The best burger I have ever had in my life! I got the religious hypocrite "Vatican" style and my friend got the Priest. It was amazing! Whoever says its underwhelming and is no different then the "golden arches" does not know good food when it hits them in the face! Will totally go again! Best burger I have ever had!
I like The High Priest - their version of a Big Mac, even the special sauce and little bits of lettuce. I was just reminded how GOOD BP's burgers are when I recently had the worst burger experience of my life at Cam's Place on Yonge Street. I almost wanted to make myself vomit to get it out of my system.
Burger's Priest has an owner who not only cares about his business, he is obsessed with bringing the classic California style burger place to Toronto.
Burger Priest. Stopped in for lunch, heard so many comments over the years...
Fries were alright, 8 out of 10...
Dbl Cheeseburger was greasy. Greasier than it should be... 8.5 out of 10...
Portions were good for the fries...
Burger was a nice size...
I'll try it again
MMM. the Vatican. Love this place, it's gonna make me so fat!!!!
Everything was made extremley fresh (burger, fries, etc). No complaints here.
Sooo good. Really good burger, but yes very bad for your arteries.
The shakes are disappointing...had the strawberry shake and honestly a smoothie from Wendy's was better in consistency.
Fab. Real food, real meat, red meat. This is for real. Great girls eating there.
Good old fashioned burger. Yes there is always a queue, there is not much seating, it is very trendy (I am not) and I was probably 10-15 years older than everyone there..... however it was a really very good cheeseburger, if fact one of the best I have had for a long long time. Worth the visit.
The hype is grounded in reality. It's a great burger place. The High Priest is exceptional. Fries kinda sucked. I heard they're working on those though. Worth it for the burger alone.
The Burger's Priest - A Revolution in Toronto Restaurants. The Burger's Priest is hands down one of the most popular burger spots in T.O. With their mouth-watering patties and their secret menu, the Priest never disappoints their customers. The service is bad only because the restaurant is smaller than its popularity, but the food is what makes the experience outstanding. Try The Vatican!
A superior Burger. The food was well prepared, tasted very good. I could have done without the wall to wall people, but it's understandable given that it's within walking distance from several schools. You know the place is good when even crappy weather doesn't keep the crowds away :)
Too expensive!. I really love this burger, but I don't go as much as I'd like to because it's too expensive.
Fries are blah.
Mmm.... There are a handful of burger joints in this neighbourhood... I prefer The Burgers Priest above all. Fast and delicious, no fuss. There isn't a whole lot of seating available, but who cares! I'll stand and enjoy the High Priest any day!!!
Truly the BEST Burger in Toronto. I've held-off reviewing the original BP location for one reason- I love it SO much, I felt I should hold-off a few months just to be sure I don't exaggerate just how tasty the burgers are.
Folks, if you are craving a simple, high-quality, well-made, juicy burger- trust me, BP is the place to be. These burgers are truly melt-in-your-mouth, simple perfection. I tend to order the Low Priest (a BM-like burger with only one patty instead of two, from the "not so secret" menu you can easily find online), but sometimes a single cheeseburger will do. I honestly find myself thinking of BP burgers almost every day-I cannot get the tasty mosels out of my mind.
When I first tried In-N-Out burgers (Southwest US- CA, NV, TX only), I thought I had found burger nirvana. My trips to Las Vegas ALWAYS hinged on getting the cab from airport to hotel to stop @ In-N-Out to satisfy my craving. I'd always cram another of their burgers into me later in my trip as well. No longer my friends, no longer... I'll probably still get myself an In-N-Out burger in Vegas this April, but it is no longer the central plank of my trip planning. There's no longer any need- Toronto now lays claim to te best burgers in N.America- LONG LIVE THE PRIEST!
Now for the negative.. Unfortunately other reviewers who say the fries aren't great are, most unfortunately, correct. BP fries are not great, they are passable. I have no doubt the genuis(ses) behind this restaurant will eventually solve the fry problem- it's a matter of trial & error. The owner(s) created one of the world's best burgers, surely they will perfect the fry soon...
A quick note regarding multiple reviews I found on this site & others for the original BP location. I've noted several reviews complaing of bad/ surly/ unfriendly service. I have been to the original location dozens upon dozens of times in the last 6 months & have now been to the new location. Not ONCE have I been treated in any way badly- friendly smiles and service is all I have ever gotten. From the girl who takes your order to the cook who hands me my burger with a "thank you" always thrown-in... the order taker today at the new Lawrence location even made chatty small-talk with me. There is simply no truth to these reviews; Friendliness is served equally with delicious burgers at The Priest.
Go to BP... GO NOW, go often & be prepared for juicy, beefy nirvana!
Shocked at the other reviews. One ordered a single cheese burger and complained? Really? The signature burger is a double-double. You failed to order the recommended burger and then complain its too small? Really. The second review the reviewer ordered a high priest and complained that it tasted like a big Mac. You knowingly ordered off the 'secret' menu and complained when you got exactly what you ordered? Offended that these reviewers have chosen to hate on a burger they did not give a fair shake to. The burger's priest makes by a wide margin the tastiest, meatiest, juiciest burger in Toronto. Maybe you got a bad one, but let's be honest, (ive been 30+ times and never had a bad one), you probably just work for another burger place!
After years of worshipping false idols, like the Hero, the King, and the Clown (sorry, Ron!), my eyes have finally been opened to what a REAL burger should taste like! Hallelujah, I have seen the Light!
I headed to a little place called The Burger's Priest. The are several locations, this particular one is at Yonge and Lawrence...
It wasn’t until starting work, where my co-workers often grabbed burgers from South Street or the burger place nearby ( Bamburger ) when I first start ordering them regularly. Then when I was introduced to The Burger’s Priest, my appreciation for a good burger grew exponentially and I was fully converted. There’s a normal menu with the standard cheeseburgers, vegetarian patty (more on this later) a few specialty burgers (chili topping), and then there is the special “secret” menu with over some over the top burger concoctions...
As for the group as a whole The Priest was a unanimous winner. There was a split among the other 4 about second place. 2 had HC while 2 others had Stockyards. The big difference would be that the two who picked Stockyards second thought HC fell well short while the two who picked HC second still loved Stockyards. All agreed that Stack was in last but still made a terrific burger.
I've been thinking about "the Pope" (one of the secret menu choices) since I had it last March, 2012. The delicious beef patties, the soft bun, the "Option" (a cheese stuffed portobello) in the middle and dreaming to returning to the Burger's Priest to grab one. Well, this last Saturday I convinced Edgar that it was time for a return to visit to this "church" to the humble beef burger. Instead of driving to the Beaches we opted to visit the North Toronto location. We walked in and found that it wasn't as tiny as the Beaches location. We even managed to find seating for the three of us. I ordered myself a "Pope"...I know...I had it last time but it was so good and I had been dreaming about the "Pope" not a different burger. This was burger perfection. It lived up to all of my expectations. God, I love the "Pope". It's really heaven on earth. The North Toronto location has milk
The Burger's Priest (3397 Yonge St Toronto , ON) A recent visit to the Burger's Priest made me want to post about my most favourite burger in the city. The HIGH PRIEST is similar to a rendition of the good old Big Mac. The beef is what keeps me loving BP, which is a ultra premium blend of beef and is ground multiple times daily. The rich, flavourful beef literally melts and crumbles into your mouth and is truly the start of the show. Topped with a "special sauce", pickles, American cheese, lettuce and onions, you honestly cannot go wrong. A simple classic executed to perfection!
The patties were seasoned nicely and cooked to a juicy medium. The burger looked unmanageable big at first, but the meat isn't too dense and the bun was nice and light. Put short and sweet, THIS is what a Big Mac is supposed to be.
DA BEST DA BOMB THIS IS THE KING OF BURGERS AND ROCKS HOLY HEAVEN
If you don't go YOU ARE LOSING OUT
This is the in place in all of Toronto so you owe it to yourselves and do not be cheap go portobello
I paid a follow up visit recently with a big BP fan and was very impressed! We ordered double cheeseburgers with all toppings (onion, lettuce, tomato, panko-fried jalapeños, pickles). The burgers are much less greasy than I remembered them from before. And the patties actually had very strong beefy taste. After exploring the secret (online) menu, I might get back to the basics now and start ordering the good ol' cheeseburgers instead.
To be honest, I’ve never been a huge burger girl. It wasn’t until starting work, where my co-workers often grabbed burgers from South Street or the burger place nearby (Bamburger) when I first start ordering them regularly. Then when I was introduced to The Burger’s Priest, my appreciation for a good burger grew exponentially and I was fully converted.
There’s a normal menu with the standard cheeseburgers, vegetarian patty (more on this later) a few specialty burgers (chili topping), and then there is the special “secret” menu with over some over the top burger concoctions. I noticed on this visit that the a few items from the “secret” menu are now posted, however it’s not the entire list. I would recommend ordering from the “secret” menu only on return visits, the classic is a necessity.
I ordered the Priest, which is a cheeseburger with an addition of the Option, their vegetarian patty. The Option is a blend of cheese stuffed between two portobello mushrooms, then breaded and deep fried, basically a bite of crispy, melted heaven. This is on top of their original hand formed patty, that is lightly seasoned, airy and so so juicy. This is the best Burger I’ve had in Toronto, I go out of my way and happily wait in line for this burger.
The BF ordered the High Priest, which is their version of McDonald’s Big Mac, much improved and even more addictive. Next visit, I need to convince him to split a Vatican City (a double cheeseburger, with two grilled cheese buns…for buns).
The patties are cooked in batches, so if you’re part of a large group order, there may a wait time in between if the orders are caught in different batche
Forgive me father for I have sinned. For I have eaten too many Priest burgers. I don't know if I can give a fair review for this restaurant because I've only ever tried one thing there, but the Priest burger is so delicious I can't bring myself to ordering anything else. Every time I go the staff is friendly, and although there is always a line, it's worth the wait. Hail Mary.
Leave it to the priest burger to send you to heaven before sending you to the grave. I recommend this to any burger enthusiast.
