It's been quite some time since I had sushi that didn't come from the supermarket, and Sushi One was a pleasant re-introduction back. Good prices, nice ambience dining in at lunchtime, flavourful sushi rolls, quick service...I'll be coming back!!
Working in Koreatown, sushi places are a dime a dozen. Sushi Moto, Nome Ikazaya, Sushi One, My Sushi, the both now-closed Spring Rolls and Sakura, just to name a few. With Sushi One being the closest, this usually is the place of choice for my AYCE sushi fix. It's worth noting that Sushi One recently brought back AYCE, but it's restricted to dinner hours only (4:30 - 10 pm).
Walking in you'll notice the modern decor, along with seasonal accents and a clean dining area. Staff are fairly friendly and the washrooms are in the basement.
One thing I love about this place is the plating. Ordering a bunch of rolls almost guarantees it will be plated with an intricate garnish, usually consisting of flowers or slitted vines. Rolls are tasty, the korean kalbi ribs are fantastic, and the the shrimp tempura is surprisingly light yet crispy. Over the course of coming regularly, I have had zero issues regarding with food here.
Overall a great place to eat yourself dead, leaving little to be sought after.
Its a small store but offers great sushi. The restaurant is usually packed with people specially on the weekends. They have both sit in or take out option.
The lunch menu for all you can eat is quite large. It's 17.99 on Monday to Thursday. The food is served quickly. The employees see also nice and friendly. The quality of the food is what you would expect for ayce.
The lunch specials here are a good price. I would recommend getting that instead of ayce.
This place is my go to take out sushi place. It is right around the corner from my place, and it's usually pretty busy. I do eat in from time to time, but for the most part I do take out.
If you're going for lunch try to be there before 12pm because it fills up fast, and for dinner anything after 6pm and you're pretty much going to have to wait for a table, and there isn't much space to wait (hence why I usually do take out).
The restaurant itself is pretty small, but they manage to fit in quite a few tables. That being said, you don't really feel like you are sitting on top of each other. The tables along the wall with the benches have partitions so it's a bit more private. It has a cozy/some-what romantic feel to it (more so at night when the lights are dimmer). It also has a cute patio on the front for the summer.
The staff are relatively friendly, helpful, and attentive. The sushi chefs seem like a lot of fun. Occasionally when I walk in (usually when it's not too busy) they will yell something, I have no idea what they say, but I'm going to assume they are welcoming me into the restaurant. Anytime I've dined in the service was pretty quick. For take out, my average wait time for two rolls is anywhere from 10 min - 20 min, when it's really busy. I also tend to pick up my order, it's quicker, and for me it's right outside, and it gives me a chance to grab some snacks/drinks.
I've eaten quite a few different items off the menu and I've also done the AYCE. I tend not to do AYCE, cause I suck at eating a lot at once, and my eyes are always bigger than my stomach and I end up rolling out of those places way too close to the edge. My usual order consists of a miso soup, spicy salmon roll and a dynamite roll. The miso soup is always pipping hot, with small chunks of tofu, diced scallions, and some seaweed, which all make for a tasty soup. The spicy salmon roll definitely has a bit of a kick to it, but I don't find it over overbearingly spicy. The dynamite roll has nicely fried tempura shrimp, which adds a nice bit of crunch to the roll. The rolls themselves are done beautifully, nice and secure, they don't fall apart when you pick them up (nothing worse than picking up a piece and having the innards fall to the plate). I've also had the bentos boxes, some special rolls, seaweed salad, tempura apps, chicken katsu, gyoza, the list goes one, and honestly I've been happy with anything I've ordered. I wouldn't go as often as I do if it really wasn't good.
My favorite. I love sushi. this place is the best in the neighborhood. great choices for ayce. they have increased prices but its still worth it. love the green, red and black dragons. definitely try the golden crunchy roll (deep fried)- unhealthy goodness :) sushi pizza has a little too much rice for my liking- but i still order it every now and again. I must say that the service is okay- nothing special.
Great Lunch Spot. Great place to have lunch, if its not busy. Quality and speed greatly decrease once the restaurant is full. Sushi pizza, avocado or salmon is great.
What happened today? Almost 30 min. waiting for food ....
Kitchen issue? Or they're fishing?
Definitely a bad lunch experience.
Love this place! I used to go downtown for sushi but found sushi one! Great food, nice atmosphere and reasonable price. Everytime I go, I had to wait for about 10min because it is packed!!
I strongly recommend this place.
Good AYCE. Not the best but quality and variety are at 7.5/10. Nice atmosphere, quick service. 14 for lunch; 20for dinner + additional 2 dollars for weeneds/holidays.
Definitely good food and good fast service. I agree that the scallop roll is not so good a lot of mayo and very sweet. The short ribs were however really good and I enjoyed all of the various rolls and sushi! AYCE too.
Nice sushi place!. Great sushi, fast polite service, very good value for $$$. Highly recommended!
The sushi isn't all that but the sides are amazing! (all you can eat dinner) this place has the best short ribs I've ever tasted!
This was a take out / delivery order. Came very quick - food was very fresh and no stomach ache!! ;-). Portions are nice but make to ask for extra sauces. Highly recommended. Driver self tipped too high...
Quite possibly the best sushi I've ever had. Tuna Pizza and Rainbow Rolls were top notch. Can't wait to try this place out again,
Very inexpensive, fresh, delicious, friendly service and clean dining area. Overall, one of the best, as well as cheapest Sushi experiences I have ever had!
Best in town!. You really get your money's worth in here. Foog is great and fresh, and service is very good too. I go there once a week!

AYCE Japanese restaurants are a staple in any Toronto neighbourhood. The vast menu of cooked and raw items is able to appease every taste bud. Of the many Japanese restaurants in North York, Sushi One is my go to for an AYCE option.
Atmosphere: While my little brother was visiting during March break, we continued our tradition of over-indulging on sashimi with a visit to Sushi One. Arriving at 7pm on a Monday, the last thing I expected was for the restaurant to be packed. It was a full house. Our timing was terrible and it seemed like every table had just settled into their meal. We decided to wait it out, getting hungrier before an AYCE meal felt like the right course of action. There was one couple before us and we both got our tables at the same time after 20 minutes. The restaurant doesn’t have an area to wait, so the 20 minutes were passed standing between two tables of diners.
Service: Service was fine, not exceptional but got the job done. Our table for two became very crowded very quickly. We had to rearrange and stack plates ourselves throughout the meal. There is a service call button, which we did use a few times to place another order and to get the bill. One thing I really liked about Sushi One is the attention to presentation. Both our orders of sashimi arrived nicely plated.
Sushi One’s lunch AYCE is a great deal at $12.99, an extra dollar for Friday-Sunday. Sashimi is not included but the maki, rolls and sushi selection is on par with dinner. Sushi One also offers great $6.99 lunch bento specials. For dinner, my favourite take out orders are the Chirashi or Gold Sushi dinner set.
