Consistently great! I have to admit, I almost always go for the lamb/veal (can you blame me?) Last visit, on the insistence of the chef, I finally tried the halloumi - crispy exterior, squeaky inside.
A great place to go with friends - enough novelty for the adventurous, but nothing that will frighten the picky eaters!
I am German and i was really surprised to find an actual Döner place in the middle of Toronto - I just had to try it. And I have to say what you get is pretty authentic, just like in Germany. I had the veal & lamb Döner and added some cheese, with a Club Mate - absolutely perfect combo.
I didn't wait long, the Döner was tasty, crunchy and fresh! Only tiny critique i have is that the Pita's at home are even more full than here.
But the comparably high price is definitely worth it!
Just like the Doners I had in Berlin. Definitely worth making a point to stop in.
Food was delicious and well priced, plus huge portions. The staff was friendly. The place has a trendy ambiance. And if you go, make sure to check out the bathroom (definitely an odd thing to say, but you probably won't be disappointed).
I thought I would never have a Döner unless I was in Germany. I live in a rural area of the state of Vermont and had the opportunity to take a trip to Toronto. Seeing how diverse the city was, we decided we should try and find a place and we found the right place. I hope to return here again the next time I am in Toronto.
I had been looking forward to this and today I finally had a chance to visit and try out their Döner, and all I can say is that it was delicious and that my expectations were in no way disappointed. Coming from northern Germany where Döners indeed tend to be differently "assmbled" as compared to the (stereo-?)typical Berlin Döner (the former: a large, thick pita bread is chopped in half and then stuffed with massiv amounts of meat shaved in larger sized strings, sauces and "toppings"; the latter: a thinner style flatbread square, the meat , which is of a finer, perhaps crumblier cut, is placed on it with the sauces and vegetables in the centre and then it is simply folded once into a triangle shaped filled slice), I found Otto's Berlin Döner to be exactly what I expected from a Berlin-style Döner. The sauces may have been a little bit different, but, hey, even in Germany the sauces vary significantly from Dönerbude to Dönerbude, that's another thing to be expected.
The meat itself (I tried the veal/lamb) had a very tasty spicing, and the flavours of the aforementioned sauces neatly complemented the meat and added the right amount of juiciness to it.
We had a side of fries which we found to be very tasty, too. However, we like our fries salty, and for us they were ideal, however, I can see that they might easily seem too salty for the tastebuds of other people.
And pricing-wise it was fine. Go to any of the popular burger-chains in the GTA and you'll pay somewhere around $25-40 for 2 people each having a meat main, side of fries and beverage, and, depending on your choice of beverage, you will end up pretty much exactly within that span when going to Otto's Berlin Döner.
Also, keep in mind that I don't think one should expect it to be a "restaurant" with restaurant-like service - my impression was that it is more of a snack bar. There was deep house playing, the seating is cozy but, perhaps, "lo-fi", and, perhaps due to the location at Kensington Market, the crowd can be quite animated. Thus, the ideal place if you're aiming to grab a quick tasty and saturating snack and flush it down with a chilled brew when you're on the way to/from a Blue Jays game, on the way to the club/a party on the weekend, or simply during lunch time or after work. This is what this place is attempting to be, this is what I think it has achieved, and that's why it's getting 5/5.
best place to eat in Kensington and that is a massive statement! best sandwich on Earth! Doubt me- i'll see u in the streets brah
Hands down the best Doner I have had. Anywhere. Currywurst was spot on and great selection of German beers. This is now going to be a must stop when I'm in the area. If you haven't been here your missing out.
The best Döner in town, it is a German as it gets, and this is coming from a European. Love it, the food is fantastic and the beer reminds me of home. <3
For a German a feeling of coming home. Great food.
Just one remark for the rather super-international staff (French, Aussie,...), you do not out cabage sprinkles on a currywurst but that’s something you can easily take off and forgive. :)
The girl behind the counter was super nice and lovely! I went last night and the veal/lamb döner could totally rival the one I had in Düsseldorf - which was the best one I had in Germany after trying 5 places (Berlin and Köln included).
Super delicious! Will definitely be coming back!
(Wish they would stay open longer than 9pm though! They would make a killing with the drunk, hungry, post bar crowd)
Best döner I ever eat, little bit spicy but that’s ok beer helped me
Veggie Doner was awesome and the disco bathrooms were a total hit for the family. It's a must add for your visit to Kensington Market.
Great place doing well in a dicey area. Been there a couple of times, wish the other customers were nicer to each other and the staff. Food/beer options are great.
Best Döner in Canada. I live in Canada for 7 years now and finally found Canadas Döner heaven.
Food is amazing. Only complaint is that they need to open later. The amount of times I’m drunk at midnight craving a teller is ridiculous. That said I can’t really fault them for closing early. Phenomenal food. Makes you feel like you’re in Europe. Delicious!
Had the lamb doner, it was totally awesome. Very decent portions for the price, super tasty and fills you up.
Great food, Great beer, Great vibe!
One of my favourite spots in Kensington.
My best friend who just moved to Toronto took me there to try the best Döner in town and i was not disappointed, I had a chicken Döner with feta cheese and it was really good! I am from Berlin and have had a lot of Döner there :-) the Otto's one can easily compete! Mahlzeit!
Just ordered delivery for the first time today and I am blown away. I have never had such delicious takeout, EVER! I ordered the Curry Vegan Soup (12oz Soup containing broccoli and white cheddar cheese along with carrots, cauliflower and celery.) A small Doner Teller topped with Chicken, Veal & Lamb, filled with; Leaf Lettuce Red Cabbages, Tomatoes, Onions and Cucumber and a crispy french fries and couscous!
Fantastic taste, portions, packaging, sauces and service!

Found this restaurant a few years ago and we stop into Otto's whenever we are in the neighbourhood and absolutely love it! Doner are fantastic as are the Teller boxes. Definitely recommended
Wunderbar Herr Droeske! I thought you , yr staff & the food was just fabulous. I loved the veal/lamb doner for it was fulled with terrific vegetable toppings & garlic sauce. So nice to chat with you about Deutchsland & you have such a great selection of bier as well.
I'm so glad I happened to see yr place - bitte do check out the Fuzz box on the Danforth one day -nova Scotia style donair to compare to yr own .
I will defiantly be bringing my family n friends
Used to eat here all the time, one would say, to much, you just couldn't get the combo of flavours anywhere else. Now I'm on the other side of the world, and I just want Ottos Doner.... for sure one of the cooler spots in Toronto, food and staff alike.
FANTASTIC FOOD, and BEER! Highly recommended. Great service too! And nice little patio.
The food was amazing! late night eats, will go back whenever I'm downtown! Also, great selection of beer on tap!
Better than all the Döners I have eaten in Berlin! :) Very nice place and they have Mate!
Loved the food! I just wish the servers would bring your food to the table considering you already left them with a tip and the place is not that big, but the food itself was really good. Will comeback for sure
