Best food I've had in... for as long as I can remember!
Great portions! Nice people. Good food! Not the most beautiful spot by far but they make up for it in every other way! Would definitely recommend this place for veggie eaters
Veg Heaven at this little gem on Dundas Street West near Bathurst with big portions of fresh dishes to be definitely shared and lingered over such as this tofu & veg bowl, Delicious!
This is one of the best vegetarian restaurants that I've been to. The prices are decent and they serve big portion. You can share one plate with at least 4 people. I love most of their menu.
Nice variety. The menu offers a vegetarian twist on many of the classic dishes (i.e. general taos chicken etc). The imitation chicken is a nice change to the standard tofu as there is a nice texture. The portions are absolutely enormous so watch out when you are ordering.
The food satisfied my craving but left a greasy taste afterwards. Will likely try it again though.
Fantastic vegetarian food. This place is truly heaven sent . It has been my goto place when I am in town since the nineties . The mock peking duck is fantastic ! The braised greens perfectly done . This place is of course vegetarian and vegan friendly , but I would advise everyone to go and try it out . If you are bringing an omnivore and or carnivore with you they will leave feeling completely satisfied ! I promise you ! I must add though if you are a person that puts restaurant decor above food quality then this is not the place for you . If you are with said person advice them to eat with their eyes closed and they will thank you !
Buddha's is the best!. Buddha's Vegetarian Kitchen is the restaurant we've eaten at most frequently since moving to Toronto. The tasty morsels, big portions, and cheap prices are seriously addictive.
The first time we ordered the General Tao 'chicken,' we actually had to grab the menu and double-check that we weren't eating real meat. SO GOOD. The texture of these saucy little love nuggets is incredible -- it reminds us of classic sweet and sour pork. We order the General Tao 'chicken' on every single visit now. If you're getting take-out, ask them to keep the sauce and the love nuggets separate so they don't get soggy.
Our favourite noodle dish is 3 kinds of mushrooms w/vegetables on pan-fried noodles. This is definitely a mushroom-lover's dream dish. Plentiful mushrooms, cooked expertly and full of flavour. Our only gripe about this dish is that the bok choy comes in little bunches which can be difficult to bite through, so we chop them up beforehand.
We usually order these two dishes and it feeds us for two whole days. As other reviewers have mentioned, the portions are enormous and our bill is usually $20.
It's definitely a "hole-in-the-wall" kind of place. Very small dining room with minimal decor, so we usually get take-out. But if we could marry a restaurant, we'd put a ring on Buddha's Vegetarian Kitchen. BAM.
My mom's goto place for Chinese Veg. I remember when I was little, my mom will frequent this place for their imitation duck in particular. Every now and then she likes going downtown to order some vegetarian dishes from this place. Definite recommend for take-out Chinese vegetarian food.
Hot and sour soup...check. Immitation duck (tofu)...check. Three mushrooms with vegis and noodles...check. One full belly, one big smile, and one happy wallet...check. Highly recommended. :)

Singapore-style Curried Noodles + Tofu FTW!!!. I don't always eat lunch in Toronto (now living in Victoria BC), but when I do I go out of my way to eat at Buddha's Vegetarian Kitchen.
Pricey for what you get. Very fresh and tastey vegetarian dishes. I especially liked the tofu.
Best Vegetarian place. I have been coming here for the past 15 years, the qaulity of the vegetarian food has never changed. Their food is so good here, I love everything on the menu. It's so good. The prices are very affordable and not expensive. If you love mushrooms, this is the place to be. The have a large selection of mushrooms you can eat. You can tell it's so freash here. Regardless about the resturant's renovation, the food is so good here. Please give it a try.
Best Veg Chinese takeout in TO. I read some reviews and decided to give this place a try. I have actually gone twice now in the past 48 hours. I LOVE the imitation duck, hot and sour soup (it's SO filling!), and spring rolls! I had the vegetable dish with cashews and that was quite bland but decent overall. The veggies are very coarsely shopped. Today I had #35 the Singapore curry noodles, and by golly the portion is HUGE. It could very well last me a week. Again, it is a little bland so I mix in the hot sauce and sweet and sour sauce the super nice elderly lady at cash gave me. She really does treat customers like family. I walked 30 mins there and 30 mins back today in the cold (too cheap to pay streetcar fare) and it was totally worth it. omnomnom.
ps. I suggest you ask them to go easy on the oil on the spring rolls... my first experience with them, they were literally oozing and dripping of the stuff!
Amaziing. This is my favorite restaurant in Toronto. Since moving to Cambridge, I drive often into TO, paying 40 dollars in gas just to get take out here. The hot and sour soup, the bean curd sheets, mixed gluten, and the chinese mushroom and veggie on fried noodles.
It is sort of like eating in a chinese family's house, and they treat you like family. English a problem for some of the servers, but they still get the orders right, and will recommend their favourites. It is truly worth trying, even for those of us who love our meat.
Very healthy and cheap!. We knew this place for a long time, but this is the first time we really walked in. We ordered a small 3 mushroom tofu soup and 2 spring rolls to start, it came out a big bowl of soup, a lot of vegies and mushrooms but the soup is clear no oil, not too much flavour but you know that is the most heathy food you can eat out at a restaurant. Spring rolls are big, full of vegetable inside, not those you normally get the cheap stuff. very good if you don't mind small dinning area
YUM!. The restaurant looks very austere with its bare white walls and bright fluorescent lights, but the food is amazing and the waitresses are very friendly. I had the imitation duck appetizer and the noodles with three kinds of mushrooms. Btw, the portions are huge. My noodle dish could have fed me for 2 - 3 days.
So long groceries.. My girlfriend wanted to take me to this place and I wasn't exactly enthralled about the idea of a vegetarian only spot, but I warmed to the idea. Upon arrival of this quaint little kitchen off Dundas, I knew I was in for a treat. The dishes are HUGE!
We ordered the hot and sour soup, the three kinds of mushrooms on fried noodles and the spring rolls. We probably could have gotten away with just eating the spring rolls, they were so massive. They should actually be called spring logs, or even spring canons, because of how much punch they pack. Not spring chickens though. That would be weird.
The mushrooms were crazy, the noodles were plentiful and everything was nice and piping hot! Had to giggle upon receiving the bill because you really feel like you are robbing these people blind. Will definitely be going back here.
Cash only.
Buddha's Vegetarian Restaurant is a hidden gem. The food especially the imitation duke is super yummy. The soup is also great and comes in very large portion. It's a perfect place for cheap and delicious chinese food.
Vegetarian Buddhist Chinese food. Portions are huge, prices are low. Slightly on the oily side. My favourites are the imitation duck (made from bean curd sheets), fried taro and sweet potato rolls, and Buddha's special noodles. Droooool!!!!
