Craving for some good Indian food around the ROM got us here which was in a way a good find. The food was yumm! Like anyone who looks for great Indian food around the Bloors or in Toronto in general should go here once. Their seating and ambience is decent. And they have some Indian tracks playing in the background. Must try is butter chicken, paneer mutter, paneer tikka masala, mango lassi, assorted Indian appetizers, Naan.
And is definitely decently prized. They also serve wine and Indian beer which is a plus plus.
Had been to this little gem on a Friday evening.
It felt like a South Indian restaurant and so we decided to order Chicken Chettinad. We were told that this would be a spicy item. So we requested them to make it moderately spicy. It turned out to be a good decision. Perfectly cooked meat and a good amount of spices (Garam masala). The quantity of food was more than enough for 2 people and had generous servings of meat.
Ordered garlic naan and roti along with it. The garlic naan was hot and amazingly light & crispy.
The roti was refreshingly different than the regular rotis you get at other restaurants.
Daal tadka went well with the steam rice. Dal was spicy too.
We were hoping that the desserts would be equally good. But were disappointed with it. The gulab jaamun with vanila ice cream came with coconut decorations!
I personally felt that the dish would have tasted better without the coconut decorations.
Overall we had a good experience. I am surely going to visit again.
I've been looking for a good Indian restaurant in my neighborhood for awhile, and Kothur is great! Authentic food, with a great chef. (The only thing was I felt a tiny bit chilly & the entrance is kind of uninviting / hard to notice.)
We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Lamb. I was particularly happy they had Poori (fried bread), which is kind of a rare menu item. Our waitress was really friendly and took good care of us and the price was reasonable. Recommended.
Visited Kothur for lunch yesterday. The special lunch was not available and it's only on weekends apparently. So opted for a veg biriyani and sizzler.We were duly told that sizzler will take 15mins and we were okay with it.
The place was almost empty.The ambiance was good enough.Biriyani was served in a couple of mins and the quantity was good. It came with raitha as side.The biriyani was good.It was spicy, loaded with veggies and went well with raitha.The sizzler was a bit of a disappointment. It was just grilled veggies.But the butter naan which was served as an accompaniment was one of the softest I have had.To finish off we ordered ice-cream(mango ginger and vanilla).Mango ginger was delicious and vanilla usual fare.
The staff were courteous and ever smiling. The service was good!Hope to be back to try their snack platter and lunch.

We dropped in here last night for a late night snack. I ordered the veggie pakoras ($4) and they were okay. The highlight was the chilli chicken ($7) which had a nice blend of flavour and spice. A delightful late night snack!
Nash and I recently visited Kothur Indian Cusine’s Yonge Street location. As we waited for our meal we were treated to complimentary papadum and hot sauces. I had the Lamb Saag which was boneless lamb cooked with onions, tomatoes and fresh pureed spinach. It was very flavourful and meaty.

We ate our food with garlic naan, treating it like a slice of pizza! I couldn’t resist getting a Mango Lassi to have a break from spices. Our meal at Kothur was flavourful and pleasant! This is a great place to fulfill your Indian food craving.
The lunch here has just ONE option during weekdays.

we have eaten at the downtown restaurant and also catered to a party at home.food was very good with appropriate spice level. price was reasonable a lot of my friends actually asked for the phone number so they could order as well.their mango icecream and rasmalai were especially good. would highly recommend

The service is friendly and they do their best to get the food to you pronto.
The butter chicken isn't the best I've had but with naan it makes a fine dinner when in the area with a craving for Indian.
The food was very well made. The flavors were good and enough spices. I went late night so some of the menu items were unfortunately no longer available. The service was rather slow but there was a large party in the restaurant. I will definitely be back..hopefully at a quieter time.
One of my favourite Indian restaurants in Toronto. A very cozy small Indian restaurant hidden at Yonge and Bloor. I tried this place with a groupon and now my boyfriend and I always come here when we are craving some Indian food. The portions look small, but are very, very filling. The food is very flavourful and are consistently delicious! The waiters/waitresses are always very friendly and helpful with the menu. Pricing is very reasonable for an Indian meal. For all these reasons, this is why we always come back to Kothur!

The ambience isnt the greatest but the food is really tasty. I tried chicken tikka wrap in tawa roti and opted for spicy (i love spicy food). It tasted fresh. The chicken portion was good. The taste and spice reminded me of indian spicy dish. Word of caution- if u cannot handle extreme hot spices do not tell them to make it spicy instead try mild or no spice. Because i love spice, i enjoyed it but just be spice alert when selecting "spicy". The taste no doubt was awesome. Will go again soon. This time to try their dosa.

Great Lunch at a Great Price. We had a very nice flavourful lunch here. The food was freshly prepared and tasty. The price was right for the food we got. The only drawback to this place is the decor and interior is quite rundown. However having said that I am not sure if that just adds to the ambiance in a way. You feel like you have been transported back to some hole in the wall restaurant in some small town in India.
Best Indian in Town. My girlfriend and I consider Kothur our go-to, consistently amazing Indian restaurant. The staff are extremely pleasant and always welcoming; this coupled with the best-tasting butter chicken and naan in the city make Kothur truly the best Indian place in this city. I've been to several other Indian joints along Yonge and none compare--I recommend the onion bahjia and the samosas--followed by the always fresh-tasting and perfectly spiced butter chicken. Rip off a piece of the freshly made naan, dip into the butter chicken sauce and you'll appreciate the quality this little restaurant produces, time and time again.
Came here with one other person on a Tuesday night for dinner. Completely empty, aside from us. Therefore, the service was fast and efficient. Ordered butter chicken, tandoori chicken, chicken biryani, and garlic naan. We were having a very chicken-ey night :P
Food was spicy, as ordered, and came out pretty fast (we were seeing a show at the theatre next door and had to eat fast). Taste was pretty good. Presentation was nice. Good food for a decent price.

Cozy and extremely good food.. We (my mum and I) have been coming to Kothur ever since it opened (we may have been some of its first customers). We had stumbled upon it accidentally (it's easy to miss, hiding as it is behind the pub), fell in love and come back every few months.
It's very cozy, warm and well-decorated - that's the first thing. The second thing is the food. It's great. We've tried most of the menu - the soups, vegetarian dishes, meat dishes, naan, kulfi - and have never been disappointed. The butter chicken is amazing, as is the palak panneer. I also recommend the lemon rice, and the onion kulcha is divine.
The service, it should be said, is quite slow - they do not seem to have very many people available to them. However, every single person we've ever seen there, from the waiters to the owner himself, has been very friendly, as well as accurate with our orders.
It is usually empty, which is unfortunate, as they deserve all of the customers they can get!
Best Indian Food In Toronto. This is the best indian food that I've had in a long time. The service was good and the bhendi masala was to die for. The food came quickly and was well presented. 10/10!
My girlfriend and I are fairly regular customer of Kothur's. We have also brought parents and friends here on ocassion. This is our favorite Indian restaurant and everyone we've brought has raved about it. The food is consistently rich and delicious! Our favorites are the butter chicken and extra spicy lamb vindaloo. Would rate this restaurant 9.5/10 - great value!
Hidden gem on Yonge St.. This was my third visit to Kothur on Yonge St., and pleased to say that it remains one of my favourite restaurants for Indian cuisine. We had the delicious Rasam soup ($2.50), mixed curry vegetables, butter chicken, lamb xacutti, lemon rice, and naan. The lamb was our favourite -- very tender and flavourful. The butter chicken was great, too. The restaurant has a nice decor and peaceful atmosphere, and the service is very friendly. I hope more and more people discover this place and keep it in business. A real gem.
Kothur chicken masala. The chicken masala @ Kothur Indian Cuisine was excellent at it's taste, flavor & authenticity... A must try dish for anyone who likes Asian spices. I would recommend them.
Great Indian food. Having traveled extensively in India, I was interested in my son's take on this restaurant. Everything was of superior quality. Dish after dish was interesting and well prepared. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I used a 50% off coupon for six of us and was pleased that they still treated us very well. We'll be back!

I recently tried this place, i will say one of the best Indian cuisine in downtown.Even, i went there with the deal find coupen, the service was great .Nothing to complain about the service,it was prompt and the waiter were enquiring wether the spice and food was ok and making us comfortable.When v r using the coupens there r sme formalities that v as customers should obey.It is written in the coupen itself that v should provide the coupen once u r in the restaurant, as far as v cant do that v cant complain about it either.V r humans mistakes happens to everybody.

Excellent Indian Cuisine!. This is a small place, too easy to walk passed, but you will be rewarded if you enter. The food is absolutely excellent, the chef makes it exactly how you like it (spicy please), and the service is great. The people are very friendly and just want to serve good food. Highly highly recommended.
AWESOME PLACE. I have been going to Kothur ever since it opened and I must say the food is delicious. the staff are very pleasant and friendly. Im a vegetarian and I have tried out mostly all the dishes on their menu and i haven't been disappointed once! I recommend this place to anyone who wants a cozy ambience with awesome food. Its also not expensive. The lunch specials are a plus.Looking forward to going there again this week.:)

Excellent Food. I recommend this small family owned restaraunt to everyone! I walked in with my family and we ordered 2 veggie dishes and rice. The eggplant was pretty good.. about an 10/10.. the okra was amazing.. 10/10.. and the rice was so large and hearty with nuts, raisins and peas. Overall the food was fairly priced and WAY better than the Host... everything is tasty, arrives promptly, is served hot and in generous portions and comes with a smile.

Great place. Tried this place because of a Groupon type deal that was on a month ago. It was really good, the atmosphere is relatively simple yet it doesn't feel sparce.
We had the some veg. samosas, mulligatawny soup, naan, a paneer dish, butter chicken, and chicken jafrieze (SP?). The soup, naan and jafrieze dish stood out, others were quite good though.
Looking forward to seeing how consistent they are with another visit!

Kothur's food is awesome! I love their Lunch Special - for $13 it's a steal. It comes with rice, Naan, your choice of a side dish, salad, one pakora and rice pudding, and a bowl of vegetable soup. Chicken Korma is their best entrée in my opinion. They have home delivery as well, which makes it so much better.
