Gord and I had a late lunch/early supper today at Milestones. Surprisingly we've never been there.

We sat in the dining room. We sat by the window. The patio was closed because it had been raining.

Gord ordered Cajun Shrimp Creole. He said it was really good. The sauce had a nice snap but wasn't overly spicy. He said he'd get it again.

I ordered an Old Fashioned Burger, with no lettuce or onions, and I got mozzarella cheese instead of cheddar cheese. Plus I swapped my fries for mashed potatoes. It was a good burger and the patty was tasty. The mashed potatoes were good too ... garlicy and a bit dry. I'd get it again.

Rose was our server. She was friendly and took good care of us.

After our Niagara Falls tour we popped into Milestones for a later afternoon chill and drink. Our first pick was too packed, but we managed to find a space on the balcony of milestones. Service was rather awful, staff were umm and ahhh-ing us as they worked out if there was space or not. And then something about if we were dining in or not. But a drink is a drink. I had the Moscow Mule, and the pour wasn’t as small as many big hands may suggest. It was to expectations. Overlooking the Eaton Centre and Dundas Square, Milestones has one of the best views in the city. That’s the main reason its worth checking out. I guess there was a humorous situation reflecting disingenuous service when the server asked where we were from and stopped paying attention after the first person answered. I tutted.

The best Milestones experience I have ever had! Made ongoing changes to the reservation and it was not a problem. Got a text message an hour before to confirm or cancel the reservation. When more guest showed up we were moved quickly to a bigger table. Felt very private. Only downside was the bar was backed up but the drinks were well worth the wait.

Tips
Make reservations (although its a large location reservations are always best)
If you are of age and like to drink try the Summers bee cider sangria!! 10/10
If your a fan of add on's you can have items such as avocado added on to your salads or sides
Great for big groups
EXCELLENT for diary needs (gluten free, dairy free ect)

Really nice brunch. Milestones restaurants are in my opinion one of the most consistent chains around. I was really just in the mood for a cozy atmosphere. Nothing crazy or busy. We sat in a two seater booth (i wish more restaurants had cozy booths!) Our waitress was great. Food came out quick and tasted great! Will definitely return.

Showed up here because I was pushed away from the Jack Astors across the hall. Let me say I enjoyed it here way more, more formal, and you can actually here the people at your table. Ordered the mussels to start and can say they came out very good, even my girlfriend who usually doesn't eat mussels enjoyed them. Also had the braised beef ribs, and those were also very good. Overall a great experience and happy I gave this place a chance once I realized Jack Astors wasn't my scene

Location helps. I'm normally not a big fan of chain-restaurants such as Milestone's or Pickle Barrel, but this one located on the 3rd floor of Dundas square building is an exception. Thanks to the beautiful patio settings that makes you feel like you are eating in the forest of buildings. We got a table with great views out to the squares with beautiful weather.
I ordered a veggie burger combo with yam fries, where my partner got the turkey and bacon sandwich with soup and fries.
Veggie burger was one of the best I had in the city.
Moist and tender, it made me think that I'm actually biting onto a beef pattie - without that wild beefy aroma. Very pleasant taste and a big portion as well.
My partner claimed the sandwich to be amazing as well, but this guy is easy to please so I wouldn't rule out on anything.
But I did get to taste his soup and it was delicious.

Overall, great location and great patio, fairly decent food but not exactly the cheapest place to go.
But then again, it's location, location and location.
I was pretty satisfied afterwards.
Verdict: 7/10

Good Patio, but very slow service.. Good food, good place with fantastic patio, but the service was very slow. It took us more than 15 minutes to wait for our waiter and start ordering and another half an hour to get our food.
Anyway the waiter and waitress are very nice and polite.

My favourite alcoholic drink! Super tasty - you don't really taste the alcohol when you mix the red liqueur on the top. It tastes like a yummy peach slushy! Plus it comes with a super cute animal! I actually have a jar of these animals at home :)

Come for the food, stay for the view. I hate patios and even I found myself drawn to the large patio that overlooks Yonge Street and makes for a very memorable dining experience.

The meals are Canadian inspired (fish, meat, pasta) but have nice twists to them and are well priced for what you get. The service is always friendly and very accommodating.

There are several locations for this popular chain, but this location is one of their best and certainly worth the trip upstairs as they are located on the fourth floor of the massive entertainment complex.

Milestones is now featuring a new Homestyle Chefs’ menu inspired by the worldwide travels of Executive Chef Jason Rosso. I had the opportunity to check out the new menu at their Dundas Square location and was quite impressed by what they have to offer.

We started our evening at the bar section of the Dundas Square location and we were subsequently led to their private dining room for dinner. I absolutely loved the space which featured wood panel walls, a long gorgeous wooden table and beautiful light fixtures. It just felt very warm and rustic – not very chain-like at all!

Without further ado, here’s a look at the Homestyle Chefs’ menu:

A selection of Canapés: Chorizo & Mozzarella Fritters – with smoked paprika aioli
Adobo Prime Rib Poutine – with smoked gouda, Atlantic Smoked Salmon Rosette – with tarragon goats cheese and fried capers
Wild Mushroom & Truffle Bruschetta – on a parmesan cracker
Gouger of Cheddar and Poached Egg Mousseline – in puff pastry

The Wedge Salad – Iceberg lettuce, double-smoked bacon, fresh tomatoes & gorgonzola buttermilk dressing

Winter Root Vegetable Salad – roasted root vegetables with a brown butter vinaigrette, barley, dried cranberries, spicy pecans & feta cheese

Valencia Style Paella – slow cooked shrimp, mussels, salmon, chicken & chorizo sausage on basmati rice

Butter Chicken Risotto – Arborio rice and southern Indian butter chicken sauce

Truffled Tenderloin Medallions – with truffle buttermilk mashed potatoes & gorgonzola peppercorn sauce

Crispy Banana Cream Pie – caramelized bananas, banana cream & warm nutella sauce

Needless to say, we were very well fed! From the canapés we sampled (smaller versions of items offered on the their menu), my favourites were the Chorizo & Mozzarella Fritter and Adobo Prime Rib Poutine. Those fritters were the perfect little bite – nice and crispy on the outside, gooey cheese on the inside, a bit of saltiness from the chorizo and a delicious smoked paprika aioli for dipping. Nothing but love for this tasty appetizer.

The poutine was another excellent starter. I loved the thin slices of prime rib and the smoked gouda was a great choice. I could’ve easily inhaled a full portion of this.

From the dinner portion of the evening, my favourites were the Winter Root Vegetable Salad, Butter Chicken Risotto and Truffled Tenderloin Medallions. As a meat lover, who would’ve thought that I’d fall in love with a meatless salad? I loved each and every component of the winter root vegetable salad. The perfectly roasted veggies paired incredibly well with the briny feta, sweetness from the cranberries and crunch from the pecans. I particularly liked that they added barley as well. Definitely a home run salad!

To be honest, I was a little skeptical about the Butter Chicken Risotto but was pleasantly surprised. The tender pieces of chicken were well cooked and the creamy butter chicken sauce was delicious. The bed of risotto was a great vehicle to soak up every bit of that sauce.

As for the Truffled Tenderloin Medallions, the minute the dish was placed in front of me, I knew I was going to enjoy it. The aroma had me instantly salivating – it’s those truffles!

Have I piqued your interest yet? Check out the Homestyle Chefs’ menu at a Milestones near you!

A few weeks back, I was invited to a media event at the Milestone’s flagship restaurant in downtown Toronto to taste the new homestyle chef’s menu. I was honoured to be part of an elite group of top Toronto bloggers and Milestones’ executive team.

The menu was prepared by corporate executive Chef Jason Rosso who was present at the event to explain each dish and his vision for the menu. The homestyle chef’s menu incorporates his worldly travels and captures Canada’s diversity with dishes such as Valencia style paella and butter chicken risotto. Chef Rosso had travelled across Canada and trained the chefs in each one of the restaurants. It’s true “there is a Chef in every restaurant, it’s time you knew”.

This location is my favourite during patio season overlooking Dundas-Square. The atmosphere of the flagship restaurant is welcoming, fun and upscale. The private room where we had our main meal is a must for large groups and provided the perfect ambiance for a delicious evening.

What we ate and drank:

I started with Milestones’ famous Bellini, which used to be my “girl’s night” staple, followed by an Old Manhattan.

The bloggers and I shared the Chef’s choice of canapés which included the following:

-Prime rib adobo poutine with smoked gouda
-Gouger of cheddar and poached egg mousseline in puff pastry
-Atlantic smoked salmon rosette with tarragon goats cheese and fried capers
-Wild mushroom and truffle bruschetta on parmesan cracker
-Chorizo and mozzarella fritters with smoked paprika aioli
-Tomato gazpacho with dipping bread

My favourite was the prime rib adobo poutine, as the meat was tender, well seasoned and delicious. The second star was the chorizo and mozzarella fritters with smoked paprika aioli, as they were fun to eat and were poppin’ with flavour . These are must have appetizers!

Moving on to the main meal, here is what we tasted for the Homestyle Chef’s menu:

The miniature wedge salad with iceburg lettuce, double smoked bacon, fresh tomatoes, gorgonzola buttermilk dressing with maple bacon and fresh mint.

The wedge salad is normally drenched in blue cheese dressing and can be overpowering. This version still stays true to the original with the iceberg lettuce with a lighter twist to the dressing.

The winter root vegetable salad consisted of roasted root vegetables with brown butter vinaigrette, barley, sweet dried cranberries, spicy pecans and feta cheese. The salad can be a meal on its own. The combination is brilliant and as for the spicy pecans, I can eat a jar of them. They were addictive!

For the main, we had the Valencia style paella with slow cooked shrimp, mussels, salmon, chicken, chorizo sausage on basmati rice. This dish will please seafood lovers!

The second main was the butter chicken risotto with Arborio rice and southern Indian butter chicken.

The last main was the truffled tenderloin medallions with truffle buttermilk mash potatoes and gorgonzola peppercorn sauce.

My favourite was the butter chicken risotto. I never thought to put this combination together, but it works really well! It was creamy goodness that delighted my palette. We had a sample portion and I was stuffed!

With every dish, we were paired with specially selected wines from Constellation brands including the Kim Crawford and the Dreaming Tree wines. The wine paired beautifully with every dish!

And to end our delicious and filling meal, Chef Rosso made a spectacular creation of crispy banana cream pie. This is not on the homestyle menu but hopefully will be. There were caramelized bananas, banana cream and warm nutella sauce. It was not overly sweet and the combination made for a gorgeous and scrumptious dessert.

Milestones knows how to throw an amazing event to showcase their menu. I was stuffed and would be happy to return to to dig into my favourite dishes.

This homestyle menu, currently available across the country, is worth a visit to Canada’s famed chain restaurant. If you have tried their new menu, what was your favourite dish?

*The meal was complimentary but the opinions in the post are my own.

One of my favourite date night spots! Sometimes I will just head in for a Bellini. My boyfriend and I are regulars and have yet to be disappointed. Lovely atmosphere , friendly and courteous staff and again I say the Bellini's are all reasons to check out Milestones. Also make sure to try the Spicy Thai Basil Noodles on their date night menu , it is superb!
