Brunch is meal that my wife and I look 👀 forward to whenever we have time to spend together. So I had to look for a new place to try, and I found the Rosedale Diner.
A small but quaint place that gives you a homey feeling. The portions given is well worth the price. The staff was very friendly and quick to respond when you need something.
As for the food it was delicious 😋. My wife ordered the Peameal bacon 🥓 eggs Benedict. Eggs cooked perfectly runny, the holandais sauce was smooth, and the fries burnt just right. And myself I had my favourite Fried Chicken 🍗 and Waffles. Buttermilk & amaretto waffles with maple 🍁 spicy 🌶 syrup which you will find under the waffle as a delicious surprise. And the chicken 🐔 was yummy crispy and juicy. Dip the chicken in the syrup, it’s absolutely delicious 😋.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant. And I would definitely come back again.
After watching an episode of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives on Food Network I just had to go hunting for the RD.
And disappointed was I not!
A nice, cozy restaurant with great friendly service. The staff were so friendly and helpful that i forgot my phone in their restaurant and the next day when I called them they right away remembered me and had kept it safe and sound. Thanks guys!!
The food here is amazing. It's portions are enough for two people. The prices aren't too high and saying that their not too low either but whatever it is - it's totally worth it.
Had the duck poutine and the sticky pork ribs. Both lived up to their reputation. The duck poutine was rich and full of flavour. The ribs were messy but had a great sweet taste as well.
The RD is must go to place.
I don’t venture North of Bloor that often, but recently I had dinner with my friends at Rosedale Diner. I went for their Prix Fixe menu and started with the Duck Liver Paté served with pickled red onions, delicious fruit chutney that I spread on crostini. I think I could keep eating that chutney!

To pair with my meal I had the Paloma: grapefruit, tequila, soda, lime and salt. My main was the Steak Frites: a flat iron steak, compound butter and asparagus. I loved the garlicy butter and the steak was very tender. The fries had just the right amount of salt.
My friend Karol had the Duck Poutine which was made with duck confit, Quebec cheese curds, duck gravy and crackling. The prix fixe came with dessert and I opted for the creme brûlée, a classic finisher.
The Prix Fixe starts at $29, and with a large selection of flavourful entrees and mains, the Rosedale Diner is both a satisfying and value meal.
I've been here twice for brunch and both times, ordered the chicken and waffles. I don't eat eggs (preference, not allergy), so this usually means I'm a bit limited in my brunch options. The chicken and waffles was delicious, but both times, I found the music to be far too loud for a mid-morning/ noontime diner. The service was decent; nothing over the top and the waiters came by often enough to get us anything and checked in on us once we had our food.
The diner is a really cool building with a great façade and fun interior. The tables are a little close, so I would recommend eating out with friends you don't mind rubbing elbows with (literally!)
I found the price of $16 for chicken and waffles to be a little much, but otherwise have no real complaints!
This place was featured on "Diners Drive Ins and Dives," with TV food hostest "Guy" so.. Went to try it out. Their steak and lamb special were absolutely delicious. There was nothing to complain about.
Food and server: 4.5
Speed of service: 2.5
Therefore overall score: 3.5
We decided to try the Summerlicious lunch menu at the Rosedale Diner today. We arrived at 1 pm, and only one table in the restaurant was occupied. We thought that service would be reasonably quick, but we were wrong. About 20 minutes for the appetizer to arrive, and another 20 minutes for the main. The server apologized, saying that the kitchen was swamped with orders from the patio. Too long, in my opinion.
The food, however, was very good. I had the Israeli Hummus appetizer and the Smoked Brisket Sandwich. The hummus was "authentic", and the brisket was flavourful. I finished with a very delightful Chocolate Brownie.
SWMBO chose to start with the Brie a la Shum, bringing together a nice combination of baked brie and rhubarb preserve. The next course was Duck Poutine, maybe not as hot as it should have been@, but still tasty. For dessert she had the Creme Brûlée, which she said was one of the best she has ever had.
All in all, a very mixed result.
An Amazing Institution. The Rosedale Diner is like your favourite sweater on the perfect autumn afternoon- cozy, familiar and it makes you feel good. The atmosphere, decor, friendly staff and fun music all contribute to the Diner being one of my favourite places in Toronto. I have been here countless times over the years and every time end up staying way longer than I expected so I can enjoy the whole experience- homemade desserts, delicious fresh coffee and often a good chat with my server. I have always loved my meal at the Diner and it has hands down the best burger I've ever had. My husband often eats the hearty pasta or sticky pork ribs, and I have probably tried every cocktail on their list.
Take my word for it- go for a gorgeous stroll in this beautiful neighbourhood and end at the Rosedale Diner. You won't regret it.
If you watched DDD and come to try their poutine au canard, I believe you would love the rebel poutine at rebel house down the street as well.
Get over yourselves, people.. The most recent review from @rayj is ridiculous. If a restaurant doesn't "cater" to your vegetarian needs (and note the "cater" rather than serve what's on their menu), then go somewhere else. I see this crap all the time. Lots of restaurants serve solely meat or vegetarian items, and I wouldn't expect, once I've sat down at a place and perused the menu, that there should be particular options that serve me. If you don't like it, leave, and don't feel the need to bash the place online to justify your unmitigated anger. The Rosedale Diner has been a staple of the Rosedale neighbourhood for over thirty years, and has remained consistently tasty and friendly to its regulars (I'm one of them, I know). If only there was an urbanspoon or a yelp for terrible, entitled customers, which Rosedale has no shortage of. As a Rosedale resident for over two decades, I can state honestly that this neighbourhood has some of the whiniest people I've ever come across, and the fact that the Rosedale Diner has stayed alive in a neighbourhood this snobby says a lot. The food is overall excellent, and the servers are overall very nice. All of you who feel the need to complain about a place for not catering to children (seriously?) or that you had to move tables? It's a ma-and-pa restaurant. Get over yourselves.
Great Spot. Headed here for lunch from a recommendation. Glad we did. The service and the food was great. Maea walked us through the menu and helped with the decisions. Look for the burger menu and the brisket sandwich. Don't forget to check out the patio in the back!
Great spot!. This place really is a gem. The service was excellent (friendly, attentive, and good knowledge of the menu) and the ambiance is great – small and cozy, great music/playlist, and was not too loud so we could enjoy the music and the conversation at the same time.
The food was delicious, all 4 of us enjoyed our meals (dijonnaise chicken, sticky Asian ribs, Moussaka, Seafood linguini). Our friends had "outstanding" homemade hummus, and for us, the chicken vegetable soup and beet & goat cheese salad really hit the spot. Drinks were also outstanding, someone at the bar makes a "mean" manahattan!
It was our first time here, and will definitely be back for dinner (and would love to try their brunch!) Looks like we found a new spot!
Loved this place!! Not sure what the bad reviews were about. My husband and I went here for a date-night recently using a Groupon. I was a bit hesitant because of some of the not-so-good reviews, but this place was absolutely fantastic! No idea what people were complaining about. Food, service and atmosphere were all excellent!
Food: the duck confit is fantastic (crispy skin, slightly sweet demiglaze, great veggies on the side), and the sticky asian pork ribs + frites were excellent! Large portions-- we took some home
Service: attentive, friendly and helpful. We did not find it slow, as some people have said.
Atmosphere: great! equal parts bistro, diner, and college-living-room. Reminds me of bistros I used to go to in Montreal. Upbeat-- not noisy-- but probably not the place for a quiet dinner-- perfect for conversation, however.
Loved it!
Rosedale Diner. I went there Saturday night for dinner with my boyfriend. We shared the calamari starter. The sauce combination was amazing but it could have been crispier. I had the fish and chips with a Mediterranean coleslaw and he had crispy salmon with brussel sprouts and quinoa. Both were absolutely delicious. Proportions are definitely worth your money. We shared the chocolate hazelnut ice cream and lattes. Service was excellent. Server gave me the bigger spoon for dessert. Atmosphere was impeccable. We sat out back in the patio and I loved how it was so cozy and simple. It was great to hear the dishes being made in the kitchen, see them being put out and smelling them come out into the patio. Will definitely remember to go back.
Great food. Good service. Expensive "loose leaf" tea thats actually tea bags. They dont know the difference. Music. Lame.
Ignore the bad reviews!. Trendy, loud, dimly lit, delicious.
Despite reading a number of scathing reviews online, I went LPC for my friend's birthday dinner. The macaroni and cheese was rich and delicious, the mussels were perfect, the fries were not too salty, and the service was EXCELLENT.
My only complaint was that at 7:30 pm it was already too dark in the restaurant.
Surprisingly amazing! Had dinner here to use a coupon from groupon. The menu on the website already sounds amazing. They topped it off with a set course that my gf got for just a little over the price of 1 dish. The staff are amazing in explaining every dish to you and what wine goes great with your choice of meal. They also have daily specials that the restaurant does not put in the menu. Like amazinh duck confit wasnt amazing already they had to add a whole sea bass served with risotto to the menu. Come here for a first date or just for dinner, the restaurant atmosphere is cozy. Small place with big tasty food!! Will come back for sure!!!
New menu is great. Wine selection is quite extensive. Try the chocolate and chipotle ribs. Duck liver pate has great flavour. Very consistent quality and service.
Cute spot, good service. I quite enjoyed the feel of this place. The two front window seats are adorable, but unfortunately I was too tall to cram into one!
The food was excellent, and the servers were very attentive. They brought a carafe of water to our table when we told them we weren't having wine.
The poutine was delectable but perhaps not the best choice for dinner... :)
Tapas?. Loved the place 10yr ago, it was more of a french bistro.
Asian sticky ribs are awesome. Agree with all previous reviews. Great dining experience. Wonderful location, atmosphere and service. Menu varied and excellent. Asian sticky ribs were great as were all other menus items had by our party. Outstanding value.
My choice for Winterlicious!
Just like a New York bistro...
Happyness is sticky ribs for dinner. With a bottle of a tin roof merlot...
Marvelous lamb shank!. Marvelous lamb shank
Good times, good friends, great food. Braised lamb poutin!
Congratulations. You got it right!
The Rosedale Diner is neighbourly little place where the high quality of the cooking is out of all proportion to the restaurant's unassuming size.
Nothing Finer than THIS diner!. The Rosedale Diner is an absolute landmark...every item on the menu is full of flavor and prepared just right. From their iconic Rosedale burger served in a pita to amazing starters like my favorite, the Brie a la Shum (hello garlic!) every choice is the right one. The service is friendly and at times entertaining, your server keeps you having a good time- especially when you order their city-famous mojito and countless other cocktails (most recently the banana Popsicle martini!) You'll do yourself a favor by going to this Yonge Street landmark....100% thumbs up!
I am not in rush to return to Rosedale diner as lunch was expensive and out of my budget at the moment. I spent almost $40 (before tax) for a drink, salad and a poutine. However when I do return, the ribs and poutine will be on my list again.
We made an 8pm reservation and the restaurant was packed. it's a tight little spot, so be prepared to get cozy to the people at neighbouring tables. this family-run restaurant has graced many "best of" lists, and has certainly secured a spot with us!
On Friday night I went for dinner with my best friend at Rosedale Diner located in midtown Toronto. We have been drooling for the poutine au canard for weeks and finally we were able to satisfy our craving. This was our very first time at this diner but we saw a deal for the diner and when we were scanning through the menu our eyes immediately landed on this poutine. This is what was written on the menu. "Off-the-bone duck confit and Quebecois cheese curds, frites, demi-glace gravy." Now tell me after reading that don't you want to make a trip to there as well. Believe me it will be worth it. The duck confit was so tender and went perfectly well with the mountain of cheese curds and fries drenched in delicious finger licking gravy. My mouth is watering all over again just thinking about it. Next we had the chicken dijonaise with beans and frites. It wasn't that great. Think it tasted a bit sour don't know if it was from the dijon sauce but I do give points for the moist chicken. It was
Great: Moules Frites
Good: Baked Brie
This is a really cute spot. The staff are great and the food is even better. I highly recommend getting the baked brie and moules frites. The mussels were so good. The baked bries is good to share with a friend. It has a perfect combination of brie and sweetness from the apple marmalade. The foods portions themselves are fairly generous and food itself is very flavourful. The layout of the restaurant is fairly narrow but it can accommodate larger groups in the back. It's perfectly located within walking distance from the TTC. I definitely plan on returning to this place in the future.
