A pretty decent spot to hang out with some good people.. food was good nothing to extraordinary. But if you want some good Italian food in a nice place to eat this place will do it for you.
Very good. A few of us hit Archeo's patio for lunch. I was very happy with my orrechiette and my wife was very happy with her burger as were the others. I also like the patio. I guess being at the distillery already gets them some mad points. I'll definitely be back some day.
First time visit. Had the strip lion with a caesar. Nothing special about their salad. The steak was tender and well prepared. The restaurant had some old charm to it akin to the distillery district. Worth a shot. 80%
2 courses a hit, dessert a miss. I visited Archeo during the Winterlicious festival and enjoyed a 3 course prix fixe lunch for only $15. It was amazing value for money. I started with an arugula and pear salad--generous portion size, and nice clean flavours. This was followed by a dinner-plate sized pizza with pesto, chicken, red pepper and caramelized onions. The onions were the star of the dish--absolutely delicious. Dessert was the one miss. Billed as pavlova, it was a crunchy little meringue with a dobbet of whipped cream sitting on some grilled pineapple. The flavours were good, but the meringue itself was very hard--I seriously considered asking for a steak knife. As it was I had to do surgery with a spoon and fork to break it into small enough pieces to eat. Glad it didn't shoot off my plate!
Although my waitress was excellent, my one complaint is that I didn't appreciate the extensive discussion about whether or not they could accomodate a single diner, and where they were going to put me, particularly since the restaurant was at least half empty for the entire hour that I was there. I realize that restaurants want to be as full as possible during Winterlicious, but a bit more sensitivity would have been appreciated.
My companion and I shared a Caesar salad and wild mushroom pizza. The salad was "ok". It lacked zing despite the double smoked bacon. The crouton was actually a crostini and we had to break it up with pur fingers. However, the kitchen was kind enough to split the salad between two plates. The pizza was truly wonderful! Lovely thin and crispy crust, flavorful mushro and cheese with a few delightful crispy matchstick frites (fries).
Sunday brunch is shared from The Boiler House at a cheaper price. Can't go wrong there!!
Amazingly huge and tasty antipasto app. I ordered the pulled pork special with homemade BBQ sauce and guatemole on a lightly toasted bun. Delicious :P Sweet potato fries are out of this world.
Meals portions and quality far out weigh quality of service. If service was managed this restaurant could be a 4 star trattoria.
Overall, our experience at Archeo was very enjoyable. Our server was attentive and personable. I also enjoyed how involved the on duty manager was. He was helping expedite meals to tables, refilling water, and ensuring everyone was comfortable. The only mishap of the night was when the manager came around to refill our waters and accidentally refilled two sparkling waters with regular water. Not the end of the world! I will definitely be checking out Archeo after Winterlicious is over to see what their regular menu has to offer.
I came here with friends after attending the Christmas Market in the Distillery District and I will definitely be back!
I absolutely loved the interior. The space is evocative of a trendy art gallery with its open concept, high ceilings, and enormously framed pictures. The food was delicious! My friends and I shared the bruschetta to start and it was very fresh and flavourful. I opted for the burger and fries. The burger was medium rare, juicy, and tender. Our server recommended the fries, which were also very good.
Service was exceptional. Our energetic server had a lot of suggestions for us and made sure we were well taken care of.
