Back in September I was in Chinatown with my best friend. We were craving ramen and found this place by change. We both ordered the braised beef ramen with 3 mm noodles. It was the most delicious meal I've ever had. Not only that but the service is fast even if it's a full house. Now, we go there every week or two. I highly recommend this place.
One thing I noticed in Toronto is that there are many homemade noodle shop, and there is one on Spadina Avenue that I enjoyed a lot. Homemade Ramen (中國蘭州牛肉拉面) sells authentic lan zhou ramen (蘭州拉面). Once you enter the shop, you can see a chef at the back pulling noodles non-stop. They make the noodles fresh to order, and they have 6 different noodles to choose from. Each has a different thickness and width.
Came here for dinner and I never knew this place existed in Chinatown. I definitely enjoyed their homage ramen. The noodles are soft and chewy and the portions are big too. Prices are reasonable as well.
My friend recommended this place to me and since then, I got hooked to this place, along with the other people i bring here. A go to for great noodles for a reasonable price. Their cold noodles are a must!
Ben heard from a friend saying that Homemade Ramen 中國蘭州牛肉拉麵 in Chinatown has the best Chinese hand-pulled noodle in Toronto, even better than our favorite, Magic Noodle (see post here). I would say it's a tied!!!. Sesame Pancake w/ Sliced Beef $4.99. This definitely doesn't look like the picture on their menu but I thought it tasted great. The sesame pancake was light while the beef was tender and flavorful.
Had the braised beef ramen noodle, grilled squid and cold spinach dish. Chewy handmade noodle in light broth great to warm up. Prices are decent and restaurant is a comfortable setting.
I tried the Handmade Ramen with Beef and it both flavorful and tasty. The broth was delicious. The noodles are really phenomenal and chewy. The noodles have a really nice texture. You can see the chef make the fresh batch of hand pulled noodles at the back. For the price range, it is definitely worth trying for a mere $7.99 per bowl. Highly recommend it and would definitely go back.
My favourite restaurant in Chinatown. The price is affordable. Food is tasty. Selection are wide. I get to choose the width of ramen from extra thin to extra wide. Also their cold dish 西北涼皮 (xibei chilled noodle?) and dessert Cook Sweet Wine & Milk w/peanut raisin sesame (蘭州雞蛋牛奶膠糖) are especially excellent.
蘭州拉麵 Lanzhou noodles is definitely one of the most loved dishes across China and I am thrilled to find this little shop next to tea 168. I got the beef sliced noodles served with clear bone broth. The province of Lanzhou host one of the biggest Muslim population in China, therefore you would not expect them to serve any pork in any of the dishes. It is worth mentioning that the milk dessert has a strong north west Chinese flavor as there are raisins, goji berries, crushed peanuts and sesame inside. It is milk cooked with sweet ferment rice (jiu niang 酒釀)that the flavors work so well together that I can't describe.
