We had been to Kingsway Fish & Chips several years ago, and we decided to go again. The restaurant seats about 100, which is fairly large for a place that serves primarily fish and chips. It was more than half full when we arrived after 6:30 pm, and the number of diners declined as we had our meal. There are a few nostalgia photos on the walls, and a few collections of tea pot displays. Along with the tan and teal blue decor, the restaurant has a cozy feel.

We both ordered the Fish & Chips ($15.99) which comes with halibut. For $1 less you could get the haddock. It also came with a small dollop of creamy coleslaw. There were other combinations available with fish, fries, salad and slaw, but we went with the basic offering.

The batter was light and crispy, and the fish properly cooked and flaky. The fries were nicely done too.

Our server was pretty good at keeping the orders straight. Ours was not complicated, but we noticed her taking the order for the next table of six, each with a different order, without writing it down, and remembering who ordered what.

When it was time to pay, if you needed the credit card machine, they had no trouble finding it, because they attach a helium balloon with a smiley face to it. Easy to find.

Fast service, hot food. Lightly battered haddock or halibut. Generous portions of both fish and chips. Chips are hot and crispy, Coleslaw good too. The real surprise was a selection of beers from Great Lakes, including Canuck, a great IPA. Bonus.
